How do learners discover the topic in team project-based learning?: Analysis of Learners' Creative Activity in the process of selecting the topic

  • Team project learning is a type of Project-Based Learning, which is an effective learning method for developing collaborative competency and interpersonal communication skills, as well as for developing cognitive competency such as critical thinking, creative thinking, and analytical skills. This research, conducted to analyze learning activities, focuses on students' creative thinking and activities in TPBL(Team Project-Based Learning). A qualitative approach including a reflective journal based on the 6 stages of TPBL, was adopted for this purpose. In this study, 69 reflective journals on the three stages (developing a theme, researching, theme-making) of 23 undergraduate students were categorized on the basis of three criteria: divergent thinking factors, convergent thinking factors and affective factors. The results show that the participants' journals demonstrated twenty-eight activities from nine cognitive factors and nine activities from three affective factors were derived from reflect journal. This finding indicates that more appropriate instructional strategies are needed for students to enhance their creative thinking skills and activities

스토리텔링을 활용한 과학과 STEAM 프로그램 개발 (Development of Science STEAM Program Using Storytelling)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of creative thinking activities and scientific attitude through the use of storytelling in the STEAM program for elementary students. For the purpose of this study, a teaching plan and worksheet for students using storytelling in STEAM was developed and applied. The results of this study are as follows: First, the change in students' creative thinking activities by applying the STEAM program using storytelling has statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Second, the improvement in the scientific attitude score has statistically meaningful difference(p<.05). Third, according to the analysis of a questionnaire used to evaluate the program, students had a positive perception of the STEAM program and gained higher level of satisfaction about the lesson. Therefore, using storytelling STEAM program applied in this study might be useful to improve creative thinking activities, and can be expected to improve scientific attitude and should be widely applied to gifted education.

  • 수학교육에서 창조적 사고력을 기르는 것이 중요하며, 이에 관한 연구의 집적이 필요하다 이 연구는 수학교육을 통해 다양하고 확산적인 사고활동을 촉진하여 창조성의 육성이 가능하다는 것에 대하여 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 초등학교 수학교육에서 창조적 사고력을 길러줄 수 있다고 생각하는 교구에 의한 조작 활동 및 문제해결과 문제 만들기 학습 지도 방법을 통한 학생들의 다양하고 확산적인 생산에 대한 실제 사례를 들면서 논하였다. 수학교육에서 창조성의 육성은 초등학교 단계의 어린 시기부터 실시하는 것이 바람직하다고 생각되며, 이를 위한 다양한 교재 및 학습 지도 방법에 대한 개발·연구의 집적이 필요하다고 생각한다.

창의성과 과학에 대한 태도 함양을 위한 창의적 사고기법 적용 효과 (The Effects of Application of Creative Thinking Technique for Development on Creativity and Attitude toward Science)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the application of a creative thinking technique for development on the creativity and attitude toward science of the students in elementary school. In order to better assist students' levels of creative thinking process, creative thinking techniques were reorganized based on the features of creative learning content in science textbooks. Furthermore, related units from an elementary science textbook were analyzed to map out the lesson plans. The findings of the study were as follows. First, the creative thinking technique developed in this study could be applicable to teaching-learning activities. When a creative thinking technique is applied, that should carefully be selected in consideration of all the creativity elements to be covered in class, and that should be used in a manner to be covered in class, and that should be used in a manner to be appropriate at learner level. Second, the utilization of the creative technique turned out to have a good impact on boosting the creativity of the elementary schoolers. Third, the utilization of the creative technique turned out to exert a good influence on fostering the school children's attitude toward science.

계산적 사고 향상을 위한 창의적 스크래치 프로그래밍 학습 (Creative Programming Learning with Scratch for Enhancing Computational Thinking)

  • 최근 계산적 사고(Computational Thinking)의 중요성에 관한 인식이 확산됨에 따라 초중등학생들을 대상으로 계산적 사고 능력 향상을 위한 교육 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스크래치를 활용한 창의적 프로그래밍 학습을 설계하고 해당 학습 활동이 중학교 1학년 학생들의 창의성 잠재력 및 계산적 사고 능력 발달에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 연구 결과, 학습자들의 창의성 잠재력은 유의하게 증진되었으며, 계산적 사고 능력의 토대가 되는 프로그래밍의 기본 개념과 원리를 습득하였음을 확인하였다. 특히, 창의성 잠재력의 하위 요인 중 창의적 성격 및 아이디어 생성 행동 요인에서 유의한 향상을 보였다. 계산적 사고의 경우 프로그래밍의 기본 개념인 순차, 반복, 조건, 이벤트 처리 및 연산자에 대한 개념 이해 수준이 높게 나타났다.

  • 최근 들어 초등학교의 수학교육 개선을 위해 다양한 방향으로의 연구들이 진행되고 있는데, 이들이 공통적으로 관심을 가지는 주제들 중의 하나가 학습자의 사고 활동, 특히 수학 학습과 관련된 사고 활동을 활성화시켜 창의적인 수학 학습 활동을 촉진시키는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 학습자의 사고 활동에 관련된 많은 심리학적 연구들을 기초로 하여, 아동들의 창의적 사고 활동을 구성하는 기본 요소들, 그리고 그 요소들의 본질을 밝히려고 시도하였다. 그리고 초등학교 수학 교수-학습에서 이러한 사고 유형들을 형성, 활성화하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있는 수학 문제들을 구체적으로 제시하였다.

과학기반 심화융합영재 프로그램이 초등 과학영재의 창의적 사고활동과 정서지능에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Science based Enrichment STEAM Gifted Program on Creative Thinking Activities and Emotional Intelligence of Elementary Science Gifted Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science based enrichment STEAM gifted program on the creative thinking activities and emotional intelligence of elementary science gifted students. The study subjects were two science gifted classes of the 5th grade of local Office of Education in B Metropolitan City. One class including 20 students was experimental group and the other including 20 students was comparison group. For the purpose of study, the lesson unit 'The world of light through science' was practised, the science based enrichment STEAM gifted program was applied to experimental group, whereas comparison group was taught traditional gifted lesson. The results of this study were as follows. First, science based enrichment STEAM gifted program influenced significantly the improvement of the creative thinking activities of elementary science gifted students. Second, science based enrichment STEAM gifted program was showed to enhance the emotional intelligence of elementary science gifted students significantly.

귀추를 이용한 가설 설정이 과학 탐구 능력과 창의적 사고 활동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Hypothesis Formulation using Abduction on Science Processing Skills and Creative Thinking Activities)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of hypothesis formulations using abduction on science processing skills and the creative thinking activities. As the subject, 2 classes in the $6^{th}$ grade of B elementary school located in Busan were selected. Through the pre/post inspection design between experiment and comparison class, the units of science courses in the second semester of $6^{th}$ grade '1. A change in the weather' and '2. Various gases' were applied. The results were as follows: Firstly, the test on science processing skills showed that there was not statistic meaningful differences between the two groups. And, in the sub-parts, there was not statistic meaningful differences between the two groups. Secondly, it was observed that it would have a meaningful effect to improve the creative thinking activities of students who performed hypothesis formulation using abduction. Especially, through this, the experimental class gave a positive effect on the 'Fluency' and 'Elaboration', one of lower categories of the creative activities. The results of 'Flexibility' and 'Originality' in the experimental class were higher than those of students in the comparative class. However, according to statistical analysis, this result is meaningless. Thirdly, on the survey about the hypothesis formulation using abduction, many students thought that this learning method was very interesting and helpful to study science. In addition, it was observed that the ability to use abduct thinking was improved more than ever before.

공공도서관 무한창조공간 프로그램과 창의성간의 관계에 대한 평가 연구 (A Qualitative Evaluation Research on the Relationship Between Creative Thinking and an Infinite Creative Space Program)

  • 본 연구에서는 공공도서관의 무한창조공간에서 시행하기에 적합한 프로그램을 개발하고, 프로그램의 시범운영을 통하여 창의성 증진의 효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 충북에 소재한 J도서관의 무한창조공간에서 '그림책 제작활동' 프로그램을 운영하고, 이 프로그램에 참여한 초등 3~6학년 학생 18명을 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서 창의성을 측정하기 위하여 사용한 것은 Torrance가 개발한 TTCT(The Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking) 언어검사도구이다. 그 결과, 첫째, 프로그램 전 과정을 통해 환경과학에 대한 흥미 및 중요성에 대한 인식이 향상되었고, 둘째, 브레인스토밍 등을 통해 주어진 문제에 대한 해결방안을 도출하는 경험으로 문제해결능력이 향상되었으며, 셋째, 환경과 관련된 전문지식을 이야기로 풀어내는 스토리텔링 능력이 향상되었다. 넷째, 창작활동을 통해 참여자 개인별 창의력이 향상되었을 뿐만 아니라 다섯째, 참여어린이들의 창작활동 결과물을 책으로 발행함으로써 어린이들의 자존감이 향상되었다.

적정기술기반 공학설계에서 디자인 사고의 적용을 위한 대학생들의 설계활동 분석 (An Analysis of the Design Activities in Appropriate Technology based Engineering Design in order to utilize the Concept of Design Thinking)

  • The concept of the design thinking can be effective in engineering design process especially in developing the appropriate technology product. In this paper we analyze the student's design activities during the 'Creative and Integrated Design Academy for the other 90%' to solve the problems in the developing countries from the perspective of the design thinking. Based on this analysis we propose the direction of the creative and integrated design activities to solve the appropriate technology products and also the direction of the future engineering design process.
