  • In this study, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polypropylene glycol (PPG)-based polyurethane dispersion resin for wound coating was synthesized. And the physical properties of the sample were coated on the surface of the film sample and the leather (Full-Grain) to study the physical properties change. In the case of tensile strength, PUD-PA1, which reacted with the least amount of PVA, showed the highest resistance at 2.00 kgf/㎟. Likewise, the rate of elongation was measured as high as 554% for PUD-PA1, which reacted with the least amount of PVA. The abrasion resistance measurement result showed that as the PVA response increased, the strength of the surface decreased to 36.77 mg.loss.

  • This experiment was conducted to study on forage utility of Diplachne fusca L. which live in reclaimed saline land of midwest region of Korea. The primary experiment was conducted to know on germination characteristics of Diplachne fusca L. according to storage condition after seed harvesting, light, temperature, flooding depth, salinity and soil covering. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The germination percentage, average days to germination, germination rate and coefficient of germination were not different in existence of light, combination with existence of light and storage condition, but those were higher different in storage condition. 2. The germination characteristics were more higher on the condition of alternating temperature than constant temperature, and it was the highest on the condition of alternating temperature with $35/25^{\circ}C$ and constant temperature with $35^{\circ}C$. 3. There were apparently significant in germination percentage, average days to germination, germination rate and coefficient of germination according to flooding depth. The germination characteristics of D. fusca L. were the highest on the wndition of flooding depth with Ocm and did not germinate on the condition of flooding depth more than 3cm. 4. There were apparently significant in germination percentage, average days to germination, germination rate and coefficient of germination according to salinity. Germination characteristics were the highest on the condition of salinity with 0.2%. There was more than 30% of germination percentage on the condition of salinity with 1% SO Diplachne fuaca L. was suitable to cultivate in reclaimed saline land. 5. The germination percentage, average days to germination, germination rate and coefficient of germination were significantly difference between soil covering. So Germination characteristics were the highest on the condition of soil covering with 0.2cm. But they scarcely germinated on the condition of more than 1cm of the soil covering.

  • In this study, we analyzed the combustion characteristics of four different floor covering materials(wood, monorium, laminatedpaper, and varnish-laminated paper) with regard to their ignitibility, thermal characteristics and flame retardancy by using an ignition temperature tester, a dual cone calorimeter, a thermogravimetric analyzer and limited oxygen index, for their fire risk assessment. According to the result, monorium had the lowest ignition temperature of $325^{\circ}C$ and the laminated paper and the varnish-laminated paper promptly ignited before 7s. Further, the wood showed the largest total heat release of $100MJ/m^2$, and the varnish-laminated paper showed the highest peak heat release rate. From the thermogravimetric analysis, it was shown that all specimens underwent rapid weight loss at $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$. The limit oxygen indices of the laminated paper and the varnish-laminated paper were in the range of 20~21%, while it was 34% for wood. This study enabled us to confirm that wood, laminated paper and varnish-laminated paper have a relatively short ignition time and are easy to burn but they all have low heat release. In contrast, wood showed the lowest fire risk among them and had excellent flame retardancy but with high heat release.

  • The social trouble to the durability of concrete rises recently because the embedded rebar corrosion influences concrete structures to deteriorate structural capacity. And also, the rebar corrosion causes crack of concrete, decrease of steel section and separation of covering concrete. In the result, the bond strength of concrete and embedded rebar decreases, which causes deterioration of the structure behavior in reinforced concrete. In this study, the relation of bond strength and bond-slip was understood to evaluate capacity deterioration of reinforced concrete, and experiments were carried out by compressive strength and embedded rebar condition in the rebar corrosion rate.

  • In this study, a deformation mechanism map of metallic nanocrystalline materials(NCMs) using the phase mixture model is proposed. It is based on recent modeling that appears to provide a conclusive description of the phenomenology and the mechanisms underlying the mechanical properties of NCMs. The proposed models adopted the concept of a 'phase mixture' in which the grain interior and the grain boundaries are treated as separate phases. The volume fraction of this grain boundary 'phase' may be quite appreciable in a NCM. Based on the theoretical model that provides an adequate description of the grain size dependence of plasticity covering all grain size range from coarse down to the nanoscale, the tensile deformation response of NCMs, especially focusing on the deformation mechanisms was investigated. The deformation mechanism map is newly proposed with axes of strain rate, grain size and temperature.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for machine recognition of phonemes in continuously spoken Korean. The proposed algorithm is a static strategy neural network. The algorithm uses, at the stage of training neurons, features such as the rate of zero crossing, short-term energy, and either PARCOR or auditory-like perceptual linear prediction(PLP) but not both, covering a time of 171ms long. Numerical results show that the algorithm with PLP achieves approximately the frame-based phoneme recognition rate of 99% for small vocabulary recognition experiments. Based on this it is concluded that the proposed algorithm with PLP analysis is effective in phoneme recognition.

  • Multi-Spectral Camera(MSC) is a main payload on the KOMPSAT-2 satellite to perform the earth remote sensing. The MSC instrument has one(1) channel for panchromatic imaging and four(4) channel for multi-spectral imaging covering the spectral range from 450nm to 900nm using TDI CCD Focal Plane Array (FPA). The compression method on KOMPSAT-2 MSC was selected and used to match EOS input rate and PDTS output data rate on MSC image data chain. At once the MSC performance was carefully handled to minimize any degradation so that it was analyzed and restored in KGS(KOMPSAT Ground Station) during LEOP and Cal./Val.(Calibration and Validation) phase. In this paper, on-orbit image data chain in MSC and image data processing on KGS including general MSC description is briefly described. The influences on image performance between on-board compression algorithms and between performance restoration methods in ground station are analyzed and discussed.

  • We have performed a set of high-resolution simulations of nuclear star-forming ring that results in an inward gas migration from the galactic disk. Our simulations consider gas heating/cooling, star formation, and supernova feedback. The galactic potential was obtained from a snapshot of a 6.3 million particle simulation of a galactic disk at 1 Gyr, which manifests spiral arms and pseudo-bulge. The potential was modeled with a combination of 3-dimensional spherical (for the pseudo-bulge) and 2-dimensional cylindrical (for the disk) multipole expansion technique. With such a potential model, one can easily set up various realistic 3-dimensional potential models by slightly changing the expansion coefficients. We have performed a set of simulations with a few million gas particles covering the central ~6 kpc of the disk for different pseudo-bulge sizes and non-axisymmetry, and we report the dependence of the gas inflow rate, size of the star-forming ring, and star-formation rate in the ring on the size and strength of the non-axisymmetry in the bulge.

  • The creep deformation behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloy was examined in the temperature range from 573 to 673K (0.62 to 0.73 Tm) under various constant stresses covering low strain rate range from $4{\times}10^{-9}\;s^{-1}$ to $2{\times}10^{-2}\;s^{-1}$. At low stress level, the stress exponent for the steady-state creep rate was ~3 and the present results were in good agreement with the prediction of Takeuchi and Argon model. At high stress level, the stress exponent was ~5 and the present results were in good agreement with the prediction of Weertman model. The transition of deformation mechanism from solute drag creep to dislocation climb creep could be explained in terms of solute-atmospherebreakaway concept.

  • The progressive contamination of water resulted from man's activity and the use of fertilizers is not restricted only to surface water, but also the shallow groundwater is affected. This type of groundwater contamination is mainly restricted to areas composed of permeable, nonconsolidated sediments forming a shallow aquifer. The chloride and the sulfate resulted from man's activity and the use of fertilizers were measured to study the variations of the groundwater contamination. In general, (1) When water level rises, the rate of groundwater contamination becomes less and when water level declines, the rate of contamination is increased. (2) The highly contaminated season is the early-summer and the less contaminated season is the winter or after rainy season. (3) The groundwater in weathering zone without covering layer. (4) The degree of contamination of wells is increased with the increase of well depth and lowing the water table, because of increasing contaminated water from enlargement of the area of influence of the well.
