  • The mechanical properties of fiber reinforced porous concrete for use as a planting material were investigated in this study. Changes in physical and mechanical properties, subsequent to the addition of carbon fiber and silica fume, were studied. The effects of recycled aggregate were also evaluated. The applicability as planting work concrete material was also assessed. The results showed that there were no remarkable changes in the void and strength characteristics following the increase in proportion of recycled aggregate. Also, the mixture with 10% silica fume was found to be the most effective for strength enforcement. The highest flexural strength was obtained when the carbon fiber was added with $3\%$. It was also noticed that PAN-derived carbon fiber was superior to Pitch-derived ones in view of strength. The evaluation of its usage for vegetation showed that the growth of plants was directly affected by the existence of covering soil, in case of having the similar size of aggregate and void.

  • The techniques of dimensional analysis and statistical regression analysis is applied to existing voluminous data available from tests covering a wide range of slab properties, which then leads to an equation to predict the punching shear strength of slabs.

  • In this paper we study some nonpositively curved Riemannian manifolds acted on by a Lie group of isometries with principal orbits of codimension one. Among other results it is proved that if the universal covering manifold satisfies some conditions then every nonexceptional singular orbit is a totally geodesic submanifold. When M is flat and is not toruslike, it is proved that either each orbit is isometric to $R^k\timesT^m$or there is a singular orbit. If the singular orbit is unique and nonexceptional, then it is isometric to $R^k\timesT^m$.

  • Using Ahlfors' covering surface method, some properties on the strong Borel direction of algebroid function of finite order are obtained. The main object of this paper is to prove existence theorem of a strong Borel direction and the existence of filling discs in such direction which briefly extends some results of meromorphic function.

  • The impedance matching properties of infinite planar arrays of rectangular waveguides with dielectric plug loading and sheath covering are studied here. The effects of several involved parameters on the impedance matching of the phased array antenna are investigated by calculating the reflection coefficients numerically. The improvement of impedance matching and the appearance of forced surface wave resonances are also discussed.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to introduce and study new subclasses of analytic functions which generalize the classes of Janowski functions with respect to k-symmetric points. We also study certain interesting properties like covering theorem, convolution condition, neighborhood results and argument theorem.

  • Biharmonic curves are a generalization of geodesics, with applications in elasticity theory and computer science. The paper proposes a first study of biharmonic curves in spaces with Finslerian geometry, covering the following topics: a deduction of their equations, specific properties and existence of non-geodesic biharmonic curves for some classes of Finsler spaces. Integration of the biharmonic equation is presented for two concrete Finsler metrics.

  • We have examined the photometric evolution of elliptical galaxies, using stellar evolutionary models covering the wide ranges of metallicity and mass, and the different IMFs (simple IMP & time-dependent bimodal IMF). The model with a time-dependent bimodal IMF can reproduce the observed integrated magnitudes and colors at all wavelengths. The computed model shows that the star formation in elliptical galaxies is still going on, although the number of newly born stars is very small. The chemical evolutionary effect is clearly seen in the C-M diagram of computed elliptical galaxies.
