  • This paper present a new disk-type piezoelectric transformer. The input side of the transformer has a crescent-shaped electrode and the output side has a focused poling direction. The piezoelectric transformers operated in each transformer's resonance vibration mode. The electrodes and poling directions on commercially available piezoelectric ceramic disks were designed so that the planar or shear mode coupling factor ($k_p,\;k_{15}$) becomes effective rather than the transverse mode coupling factor ($k_{31}$).

  • In this paper, we investigated the optical coupling characteristics for $K^{+}$ ion-exchanged diffused channel waveguide by using coupled-mode equations. In this case, the optical-power-dividing was observed at the waveguide-type optical coupler with 3[$\mu\textrm{m}$] line-width and, 6[$\mu\textrm{m}$] separation between channel waveguides in which interaction lengths were 1 and 3[mm], respectively, On the basis of that we deformed simulation for $Ag^{+}$ ion-exchanged diffused channel waveguide. As a result of simulation, the optical-power-dividing was shown at the waveguide-type optical coupler wish 3[$\mu\textrm{m}$] line-width, 6[$\mu\textrm{m}$] separation between channel waveguides and 0.11[mm] interaction length.

Fabrication and Characteristics of Transformers for High Power Density SMPS (고밀도 SMPS 용 변압기의 제조와 특성)

  • We designed the flyback planar transformer, which had 8W capacity, with 70V input voltage and 8.2V output voltage for the establishment of design method and the confirmation of application possibility. The numerical value of inductance measured under the switching frequency of 120 kHz was 1650 ${\mu}H$, which was the inductance efficiency of 85~87% against theoretical value. The A.C. resistance of primary and secondary coil was 4.2 ${\Omega}$ and 0.25 ${\Omega}$ respectively. On the other hand, the quality factor for each wound numbers showed quite a high value of 158 and 75 respectively. And the Coupling Factor was 0.96~0.97 under 120 kHz switching frequency. And the shape of the output wave of the planar transformer at 70V input voltage was a stable square wave.

  • In this paper, we investigated the electric and acoustic properties of piezoelectric composites, which were fabricated using polymer and piezoelectric ceramics, when the volume fraction of PZT varies. Practically, the shrinkage rate of polymer is an important factor in ultrasonic transducer fabrication. When 10 wt% filler A was added into polymer(Epofix), the lowest shrinkage was resulted. The electromechanical coupling factor($k_t$) of the fabricated piezoelectric composites showed its highest when the volume fraction PZT was 0.6. It decreased if the volume fraction was higher than the value. The relative permittivity and acoustic impedance of piezoelectric composites decreased linearly when PZT volume fraction was decreased. The lowest acoustic impedance was 3.2 when the volume fraction of PZT was 0.2.

  • Coupling rubber pad are important components in railway vehicles. It can be used for reduce shock, vibration and noise. Simple tension, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear test were performed to acquire the coefficient of rubber material which were Mooney-Rivlin and Ogden model. The finite element analysis was executed to evaluate the behavior of deformation and stress distribution by using the commercial finite element analysis code. Useful life evaluation are very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability of the rubber components. In this paper, useful life prediction of rubber pad for railway vehicle were experimentally investigated. Accelerated heat-aging test for rubber material were carried. Compression set results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot.

  • The growth and characterization of $In_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}As/In_{0.5}Al_{0.5}As$ narrow-gap inverted high electron mobility transistor structures, developed as a candidate material for spin-injection devices, are presented in this study. We have grown samples possessing surface $In_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}As$ channels of different thicknesses (30 nm and 60 nm) both with and without a thin 3 nm $In_{0.5}Ga_{0.5}As$ cap layer by using molecular beam epitaxy. We then investigated the in-plane transport properties as well as the Rashba spin-orbit coupling constant of the two-dimensional electron gas confined at the heterojunction interface.

  • We investigated the preparation and guided-mode properties of $Ti:LiNbO_3$ waveguides which were fabricated by Ti in-diffusion. The diffusion method to reduce the Li out-diffusion was proposed. The optical guided-mode and propagation loss based on butt-coupling pigtailed with PMF-input were measured. How to improve the polishing grade of waveguide endfaces is newly proposed in this paper. To show the mode propagations, the BPM simulations of channel waveguide are described.

  • It was investigated that space charge characteristics of EPDX/LPE laminates as a function of interfacial condition. There were no effects in charge accumulation characteristics at EPDM/XLPE laminate samples which were pasted with silicone oil and silicone grease. But when the crosslinking coagent (TMPTA) was pasted in laminate samples, there was no space charge in interface of EPDE/XLPE laminate and no effects in the laminate sample pasted with silicone grease dissolved crosslinking coagent. In the coupling agent pasted EPDhyXLPE laminate sample, space charge was accunlulated in XLPE side caused by coupling agent.

  • In this paper, we manufactured Pb($Ni_{1/2}$ $W_{1/2}$)$O_3$-Pb($Mn_{1/3}$$Nb_{2/3}$)$O_3$-Pb($Zr_3$Ti)$O_3$ceramics with variation of milling time and investigated its dielectric and piezoelectric properties. Density was increased with the increase of milling time because the sinterability of specimens were improved with the decrease of particle size. The highest value of electromechanical coupling factor was 0.518 at milling time 5hour. The highest values of mechanical quality factor and dielectric constant were 1566, 1590 at milling time 4hour, respectively.

  • Electrical resistivity and piezoelectric properties were investigated in Lead Zirconate-Titante(PZT) with Nb$_2$O$\sub$5/dopant, fabricated from conventional mixed-oxide powders and molten salt synthesis. The resistivity and electromechanical coupling factor(K$\sub$p/) were increased with increasing Nb content. The reason for increasing of the electrical resistivity below the Curie Temperature(TC). It is believed that the Curie Temperature(Tc). It is believed that the p-type electrical conduction in PZT is due to lead vacancies. The electromechanical coupling factor(K$\sub$p/) and piezoelectric constant d$\sub$33/ were improved. This behavior can be explained as a compensation effect and Nb$\^$5+/ can serve as a donar and contribute electrons to the conduction process. As a result, the optimized Nb$_2$O$\sub$5/ dopants on the PZT specimens were 0.75 wt%.
