Objective : To identify the inhibitory effects of Commiphora Myrrha (CM) on monosodium urate (MSU)-induced gout model in rats. Materials and Methods: After pretreatment with CM-I (125mg/kg) or CM-II (50mg/kg) for 7 days followed by ones injection of MSU solution. the various indicators related to gout were measured on hematological and serum level including joint inflammation, Also, it was studied whether FBM directly inhibits the activity of xanthine oxidase in vitro. Results : As a result of this study, CM didn't show cytotoxicity in Jurkat cells, but it showed significant inhibition of activity of xanthine oxidase in vitro. CM slightly inhibited joint inflammation induced by MSU though not with statistical significance. CM partially decreased MSU-induced albumin, globulin, AST, ALT, BUN, creatinine. WBC, platelet count and ESR level and significantly decreased MSU-induced uric acid in serum. Conclusion : These results suggest that CM has therapeutic effects that are applicable to prevention and treatment of gout, and should be further investigated.

The Miller algorithm is employed in the typical pairing computation such as Weil, Tate and Ate for implementing ID based cryptosystem. By analyzing the Mrabet's attack that is one of fault attacks against the Miller algorithm, this paper presents au efficient fault attack in Affine coordinate system, it is the most basic coordinates for construction of elliptic curve. The proposed attack is the effective model of a count check fault attack, it is verified to work well by practical fault injection experiments and can omit the probabilistic analysis that is required in the previous counter fault model.

Purpose This study aims to understand the inclinations of young job seekers towards "hidden champions" - small but competitive companies that are emerging as potential solutions to the growing disparity between youth-targeted job vacancies and job seekers. We utilize machine learning techniques to discern the appeal of these hidden champions. Design/methodology/approach We examined the characteristics of small and medium-sized enterprises using data sourced from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Youth Worknet. By comparing the efficacy of five machine learning classification models (i.e., Logistic Regression, Random Forest Classifier, Gradient Boosting Classifier, LGBM Classifier, and XGB Classifier), we discovered that the predictive model utilizing the LGBM Classifier yielded the most consistent performance. Findings Our analysis of the relative significance of preference determinants revealed that industry type, geographical location, and employee count are pivotal factors influencing preference. Drawing from these insights, we propose targeted strategic interventions for policymakers, hidden champions, and young job seekers.
Radiation detection systems working at high count rates suffer from the overlapping of their output electric pulses, known as pulse pile-up phenomenon, resulting in spectrum distortion and degradation of the energy resolution. Pulse tail extrapolation is a pile-up correction method which tries to restore the shifted baseline of a piled-up pulse by extrapolating the overlapped part of its preceding pulse. This needs a mathematical model which is almost always nonlinear, fitted usually by a nonlinear least squares (NLS) technique. NLS is an iterative, potentially time-consuming method. The main idea of the present study is to replace the NLS technique by an integration-based non-iterative method (NIM) for pulse tail extrapolation by an exponential model. The idea of linear extrapolation, as another non-iterative method, is also investigated. Analysis of experimental data of a NaI(Tl) radiation detector shows that the proposed non-iterative method is able to provide a corrected spectrum quite similar with the NLS method, with a dramatically reduced computation time and complexity of the algorithm. The linear extrapolation approach suffers from a poor energy resolution and throughput rate in comparison with NIM and NLS techniques, but provides the shortest computation time.

This study attempts to explore the difference of innovation sources between high-tech industry and mid-tech industry through patent analysis. After extracting 119 corporates, commonly surveyed in 2007 HCCP(Human Capital Corporate Panel) and 2005~2006 Korea Innovation Survey, their patents applied for the Korean Intellectual Property Office in 2007~2012 are analysed mainly through negative binomial regression model. Analytical results shows that external information source could be opposite effects to technological innovation depending on technological level and industrial characteristics. The current results are still bounded in the statistical significance, mainly due to the limited observations and information.

The incidence of blindness resulting from diabetic retinopathy has significantly increased despite the intervention of insulin to control diabetes mellitus. Early signs are microaneurysms, exudates, intraretinal hemorrhages, cotton wool patches, microvascular abnormalities, and venous beading. Advanced stages include neovascularization, fibrous formations, preretinal and vitreous microhemorrhages, and retinal detachment. Microaneurysm count is important because it is an indicator of retinopathy progression. The purpose of this paper is to apply data mining to detect diabetic retinopathy patterns in routine fundus fluorescein angiography. Early symptoms are of principal interest and therefore the emphasis is on detecting microaneurysms rather than vessel tortuosity. The analysis does not involve image-recognition algorithms. Instead, mathematical filtering isolates microaneurysms, microhemorrhages, and exudates as objects of disconnected sets. A neural network is trained on their distribution to return fractal dimension. Hausdorff and box counting dimensions grade progression of the disease. The field is acquired on fluorescein angiography with resolution superior to color ophthalmoscopy, or on patterns produced by physical or mathematical simulations that model viscous fingering of water with additives percolated through porous media. A mathematical filter and neural network perform the screening process thereby eliminating the time consuming operation of determining fractal set dimension in every case.

An experimental and theoretical study was carried out to estimate the foaming characteristics in the pultrusion process of phenolic foam composite. For the experimental study, a lab-scale pultrusion apparatus was constructed. Methylene chloride(CH2Cl2) was used as a physical blowing agent, glass fiber roving was used as reinforcement and the polymer used was a resol type phenolic resin. Pultruded products were observed to count bubble size by a SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy). For the theoretical study, a model for bubble growth in a gradually hardening resin was considered and solved for a few foaming conditions.

The mobility of water in set yogurt during fermentation was studied using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxometry. The spin-spin relaxation was analyzed using a 2-fraction model, resulting in 2 spin-spin relaxation time constants $T_{21}$ and $T_{22}$. Both $T_{21}$ and $T_{22}$ exhibited rapid changes between 2 and 4 hr of fermentation, coinciding with the drop in pH and the rise in lactic acid bacteria count. The spin-lattice relaxation time $T_1$ increased over the fermentation period. Both $T_1$ and $T_2$ showed an increase in the mobility of water upon gel formation during fermentation. Water redistribution within the gel matrix due to casein aggregation and structure forming may be responsible for the changes in mobility.
Powder compaction is a continually and rapidly evolving technology where it is a highly developed method of manufacturing reliable components. To understand existing mechanisms for compaction, parameter investigation is required. Experimental investigations on powder compaction process, followed by numerical modeling of compaction are presented in this paper. The experimental work explores compression characteristics of soft and hard ductile powder materials. In order to account for deformation, fracture and movement of the particles, a discrete-finite element analysis model is defined to reflect the experimental data and to enable investigations on mechanisms present at the particle level. Effects of important simulation factors and process parameters, such as particle count, time step, particle discretization, and particle size on the powder compaction procedure have been explored.
Laboratory information system (LIS) is a key tool to manage laboratory data in clinical pathology. Our department has developed an information system for routine hematology using down-sized computer system. We have used an IBM 486 compatible PC with 16MB main memory, 210 MB hard disk drive, 9 RS-232C port and 24 pin dot printer. The operating system and database management system were SCO UNIX and SCO foxbase, respectively. For program development, we used Xbase language provided by SCO foxbase. The C language was used for interface purpose. To make the system use friendly, pull-down menu was used. The system connected to our hospital information system via application program interface (API), so the information related to patient and request details is automatically transmitted to our computer. Our system interfaced with fwd complete blood count analyzers(Sysmex NE-8000 and Coulter STKS) for unidirectional data tansmission from analyzer to computer. The authors suggests that this system based on down-sized computer could provide a progressive approach to total LIS based on local area network, and the implemented system could serve as a model for other hospital's LIS for routine hematology.
