Study on preparation of chitosan microcapsule

  • Unstable cosmetic active ingredients could be degraded rapidly by chemical and photochemical process. Particularly, some of active ingredients like retinol are known to cause skin irritation when applied on the skin excessively. Therefore, it has become a very important issue to encapsulate cosmetic actives for the stabilization and skin protection. This study was performed in order to prepare a chitosan microcapsule containing liposoluble cosmetic actives and to investigate the stabilization effect of actives when chitosan microcapsule was applied in cosmetic formulation. Chitosan, deacetylated form of chitin, has been of interest in the industrial applications due to its biocompatibility, biodegradability, non-toxicity, antimicrobial activity and also used as a wall material of capsule. Retinol was used as a core material and was stabilized by a wall of chitosan and antioxidants. The chitosan microcapsule containing retinol(CMR) was prepared by using coacervation method and W$_1$/O/W$_2$ emulsification techniques. The CMR has 0.5~10.0 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size distribution and a long-term stability of more than an year inside the cosmetic formulation(O/W). Remaining retinol percentages at 45$^{\circ}C$ after 8 weeks in the CMR dispersion were 15.6%(pH 4.0), 59.8%(pH 6.0) and 65.0%(pH 6.0 with antioxidant) respectively. Retinol stability when added CMR inside a ONV emulsion was better than that of ONV emulsion added non-capsulated retinol. As a result, remaining retinol at 45$^{\circ}C$ after 8 weeks in O/W emulsion added non-capsulated retinol and O/W emulsion containing CMR was 12.7%, 70.5% respectively. It appeared that chitosan treated microcapsule may be used for a potential encapsulation method of unstable active ingredients.

  • Aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry is becoming a major source of the dentists practice and source of income. Patients are demanding dentists to improve and enhance their appearance and function by means of aesthetic contouring and orthodontics and are willing to pay for such services. This creates a challenge for the dental profession to gain more knowledge and skill in this important area of their practice. Ceramic and composite veneers provide a comprehensive solution to the dentition that are severely hypoplastic or deeply stained by the ingestion of tetracycline during tooth development. A large number of dental materials and new techniques are now available that will render extremely satisfactory and beautiful solutions to these previously unsightly dentitions. This presentation will present the most commonly used dental materials and techniques of fabrication of composite and porcelain veneers. Using clinical cases, the step by step cavity preparations.Impression taking, laboratory fabrication, clinical try-in and cementation materials and techniques and repairs of broken veneers as well as long term follow up will be presentedesented

화장품 구매행동과 영향 변인 연구 -의복관여도, 연령, 얼굴만족도를 중심으로- (Make-Up Purchase Behavior and Influential Factors -Focusing on Clothing Involvement, Age, and Face Satisfaction-)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in cosmetic purchase behavior according to clothing involvement, age, and face satisfaction. Subjects of this study were the females in Seoul and Kyonggi, who were 20's and 40$.$50's. Questionnaire was used as major method of gathering data. The data were collected from Sep. to Oct., 2003 and analyzed by using SPSS 10.0 with various techniques such as the factor analysis, reliability analysis, mean, percentage, cluster analysis, ANOYA, Duncan test, t-test. Cronbach's $\alpha$ and X$^2$-test. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The cosmetic purchase behaviors were categorized in 4 different factors by the factor analysis;'fashion pursuit' purchase, 'conspicuous pursuit' purchase, 'brand pursuit' purchase and 'rational pursuit' purchase. 2. The consumers were classified into four groups by clothing involvement; 'high clothing involvement' group, 'low fashion involvement' group, 'middle clothing involvement' group and 'low clothing involvement' group. 3.'High clothing involvement' group was the highest in 'fashion pursuit' and 'conspicuous pursuit' purchase factors, 'Low fashion involvement' group was the lowest in 'fashion pursuit' purchase factor. Conclusionally, 'fashion pursuit' and 'conspicuous pursuit' purchase behaviors were setting more aggressive as clothing involvement was getting higher. 4. The differences in cosmetic purchase behavior according to the age revealed that 40'$.$50s' basic cosmetic purchase behavior was more 'brand pursuit' oriented than 20's. 5. The result of differences in cosmetics purchase behavior according to the face satisfaction was no noticeable difference.

텍스트 인식 기법에 기반한 화장품 성분 자동 분석 시스템 (An Automatic Cosmetic Ingredient Analysis System based on Text Recognition Techniques)

  • 임산부나 피부질환자 등 화장품 성분에 예민한 사람들이 있다. 또 화장품으로 인한 부작용을 경험하는 사람들이 있다. 이를 피하기 위해, 쇼핑 시에 일일이 화장품에 유해 성분이 있는지 검색하는 것은 번거롭다. 또한 본인에게 잘 맞는 기능성 성분을 알고 기억하는 것은 새로운 화장품을 구매할 때 도움이 된다. 사진 촬영을 통해 현장에서 즉시 화장품 성분을 알 수 있는 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문은 화장품에 표기된 성분을 촬영해 즉각적으로 화장품 성분을 알 수 있는 스마트폰용 애플리케이션 <화안>을 소개한다. 본 시스템은 효과적인 텍스트 인식 기법을 적용하여, 카메라를 화장품 성분에 비추거나 앨범에서 화장품 성분 사진을 불러올 경우, 해당 화장품의 성분을 자동 인식 및 자동 분류하여 그 화장품의 성분을 현장에서 즉시 제공한다는 점에서 기존의 시스템에 비해 효과적이고 편리하다. 이 시스템이 널리 활용된다면, 일상생활 속 화장품으로 인한 피부 질환을 예방하고 본인에게 맞지 않는 화장품 구매를 줄일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

화장품용 유화 제조기술 최근동향 (Recent Emulsion Technology in Cosmetics)

  • Emulsions are mixture of immiscible liquids in which one is dispersed in all over the other. They have been applied to many applications including cosmetics, foods, drug delivery system (DDS), fine chemicals, and chemical separations. Especially, emulsion technology is one of the most useful technique to formulate cosmetics such as eye cream, foundation, and foam cleansing. In general, the emulsions can be generated by mechanical agitation of two immiscible fluids. However, the emulsions obtained by conventional method have limited in stability, monodispersity, and complicate process. We describe here preparation techniques of representative cosmetic emulsions such as liposome, liquid crystal emulsion, nanoemulsion, multiple emulsion, and pickering emulsion. Furthermore, various factors which can control the physical properties of each cosmetic emulsions are briefly discussed.

  • The fabrication, characterization and manipulation of nanosystems brings together physics, chemistry, materials science and biology in an unprecedented way, Phenomena occurring in such systems are fundamental to the workings of electronic devices, but also to living organisms. The ability to fabricate nanostructures is essential in the further development of functional devices that incorporate nanoscale features. Even more essential is the ability to introduce a wide range of chemical and materials flexibility into these structures to build up more complex nanostructures that can ultimately rival biological nanosystems. In this respect, polymers are potentially ideal nanoscale building blocks because of their length scale, well-defined architecture, controlled synthesis, ease of processing and wide range of chemical functionality that can be incorporated. In this presentation, we will look at a number of promising polymer-based nanofabrication strategies that have been developed recently, with an emphasis on those techniques that incorporate nanostructured polymers into devices and that exploit intrinsic polymer properties.

  • The problem of detecting individual differences of chemically similar liquids remains to be unsolved for various areas of the natural sciences, such as medicine, biology, nutrition, and cosmetics 1. This problem is of crucial importance for the cosmetic sciences, including perfumery and aromatherapy. For example, some certain subtle differences of smell and taste between chemically similar liquids are very difficult to detect by using conventional methods of analysis, such as gas chromatography (GC) and the like (except under unique advanced techniques that are expensive, time consuming, and are not readily available). However, a trained human nose and! or mouth of a perfumer and/ or taster can detect differences of that kind. There are two conventional ways to make a fragrance.(omitted)

유방하 횡절개를 이용한 최소침습 심장수술 (Minimal Invasive cardiac Surgery ; Small Submammary Incision)

  • A cosmetic incision for minimal invasive cardiac surgery is described. Through a small submammary skin incision combined with partial low sternotomy some kinds of cardiac operations are possible without extra-difficulty but with excellent cosmetic effect, No special instruments nor techniques are required. By this method routine cannulations for cardiopulmonary bypass as well as aortic cross clamping bicaval snaring and venting of cardiac chambers are possible, We performed 5 cases of open heart surgeries using this approach which includes two cases of atrial septal defect closure one case of ventricular septal defect closure one case of pulmonic valvotomy and one case of mitral valve replacement.

스킨헬스케어를 위한 미용 왁싱 이용 실태 및 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on State of Usage and Awareness of Cosmetic Waxing for Skin Health Care)

  • 본 연구는 미용 왁싱 이용 실태 및 인식을 조사하여, 미용 왁싱 산업의 기초자료로 제공하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 광주·전남지역의 230명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료의 통계처리는 SPSS ver. 21.0 프로그램을 활용하여 분석하였으며, 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조사대상자의 일반적 특성에서 연령은 20대가 가장 많았고, 결혼여부는 기혼, 직업은 전문직이 가장 높았으며, 월 평균 소득은 200만원 미만, 최종 학력은 고졸 가장 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 왁싱 시술에 대한 인식과 조사대상자의 일반적 특성에 따라 차이는 직접 경험해 본 제모법은 면도와 왁싱이 높게 나타났고, 왁싱에 대한 인지 경로는 지인, 왁싱을 시술받는 것에 대한 인식을 분석한 결과는 긍정적으로 나타났으며, 그 이유는 왁싱 시술을 하면 위생적이고, 깔끔하다고 생각하기 때문(위생, 건강)이 높게 나타났다. 왁싱 시술 장소는 미용 전문샵(네일, 피부, 헤어 등)이, 왁싱 시술 이유는 피부 위생에 효과적이기 때문이 가장 높게 나타났다. 왁싱 시술을 주로 하는 부위는 겨드랑이와 팔, 다리이고 시술 빈도는 월 2회, 시술 계절은 봄이 가장 높게 나타났고, 시술 만족도를 분석한 결과는 매우 만족하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 국가경제발전의 새로운 성장 동력으로 관심을 받고 있는 뷰티산업의 일환으로 미용 왁싱 산업이 동반 성장하기를 기대해본다.
