The electrocoating for automotive bodies is pigmented with a mixture of titanium dioxide and kaolin. In this study, the effects of titanium dioxide and kaolin contents in coating on electrodeposition process, drying, and surface properties such as surface roughness, gloss, impact resistance and corrosion resistance were investigated. Titanium dioxide and kaolin in coating do not have a decisive effect on curing reaction during drying and corrosion resistance but on gloss, surface roughness, impact resistance and electrodeposition process of coating. According to its size and shape on coating surface, pigment contents increased during drying process. However, the contents of kaolin and $TiO_2$ in coating didn't affect the corrosion resistance on zinc phosphated substrate, and the curing properties.

We carroed our to measure the variations of potential with current density (polarization curves) for poly(ethyleneterephthalate). The results were particularly examined to identify the influences on corrosion potential and corrosion rate of various factors including temperature, pH, exposure time, salt, and enzyme. The Tafel slope for anodic dissolution was determined by the polarization effect depending on these conditions. The optimum conditions were established for each case. The second anodic current density peak and maximum passive current density were designated as the relative corrosion sensitivity$(I_r/I_f)$. The mass transfer coefficient value$(\alpha)$ was determined with the Tafel slope for anodic dissolution based on the polarization effect with optimum conditions.
This study was investigated to control the corrosion and scale at the cooling water system in steel works. Laboratory and field tests were performed for the indirect cooling water system of plate mill. Throughout the experiment, various factors such as leakage of pipes, heating rate and capacity, and the reaction between existing and substitute inhibitors were carefully monitored. The results showed that the harmful effect of high temperature could be minimized, and satisfactory corrosion/scale controls were effectively achieved using inhibitor, even at the increased temperature of $80^{\circ}C$. The batch and field tests in the gas scrubbing cooling water system of blast furnace and cooling water system of corex plant indicated that the new inhibitor was more effective for the prevention of corrosion and scale than the existing one.
Mechanical and chemical tests were performed on $Zro_2 \cdot SiO_2$ glass fibers manufactured by the sol-gel method and E-glass fibers-reinforced cement composites in order to investigate the interactions between glass fibers and cement matrices. Chemical attack leads to corrosion of the glass fiber surfaces. In the corrosion reactions, the surface of $30ZrO_2 \cdot 70 SiO_2$ glass fibers developed a densified concentric layer, which consists of glass corrosion products with much higher Zr and lower Si than the fresh glass fiber. The layer of reaction product is regarded to stiffen the cement matrices and provide a useful improvement to the mechanical properties. The addition of $ZrO_2$ content increases the corrosion resistance of glass fibers in cement by forming a passivating layer on the surface of glass fibers.
In order to examine the possibility of practical at low-temperature environment curable cement mortar with chloride and nitrite as cold resistance admixture for rebar corrosion prevention. As a result, chloride was used using nitrite complex in low temperature environment and corrosion performance of rebar was improved and mortar strength was promoted. The ratio of nitrite than chloride applied more than twice, corrosion of the reinforcing bars will not occur even in low temperature environment, cement hydration reaction will be promoted and mortar will prevent freezing damage.
The corrosion behavior of aluminum and mild steel in hydrochloric acid medium was studied using a nicotinic acid hydrazide as inhibitor by potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique and gravimetric methods. The effects of inhibitor concentration and temperature were investigated. The experimental results suggested, nicotinic acid hydrazide is a good corrosion inhibitor for both aluminum and mild steel in hydrochloric acid medium and the inhibition efficiency increased with increase in the inhibitor concentration. The polarization studies revealed that nicotinic acid hydrazide exhibits mixed type of inhibition. The inhibition was assumed to occur via adsorption of the inhibitor molecules on the aluminum and mild steel surface and inhibits corrosion by blocking the reaction sites on the surface of aluminum.
Some feasibility studies are conducted to produce an advanced ceramic coating, which reveals superior chemical and mechanical strength, on metal base structure used in chemical plant. This advanced coating on metallic frame can replace ceramic delivery pipe and reaction chamber used in chemical plant, which are operated in hi-temperature and corrosive/erosive environment. An dual spraying is adopted to reduce the residual stress in order to increase the coating thickness and the residual stress is estimated by in-situ manner. Then new methodology is tried to form special coating of yttrium aluminum garnet(YAG), which reveals hi-strength and low-creep rates at hi-temperature, superior anti-corrosion property, hi-stability against Alkali-Vapor corrosion, and so on, on iron base structure. To verify the formation of YAG during thermal spraying, XRD(X ray diffraction) technique was used.

The failure of a Zn-plated carbon steel pipe that served as a fire sprinkler was investigated in terms of the pipe's corrosion products. The pipes leaked through holes formed beneath the tubercles. The formation of oxygen concentration cell involves colonization of metal surface by aerobic bacteria or other slime formers, and anodic reaction beneath tubercle is accelerated by the presence of SRB, leading to the formation of hole beneath tubercle.
ACSR of the catenary wires is corrosion degradation progressed by the effect of atmospheric pollution. ACSR which consists of galvanized steel stranded aluminum. The inside of Steel Reinforced is hot-dipped zinc coating steel wire and it takes charge of tension. If ACSR is exposed in atmosphere, the galvanic corrosion is occurred because it is contacted with aluminum. It is occurred the chemical reaction rapidly so that the local a defect is also occurred. If the catenary wires are exposed in atmosphere of pollution conditions, it may cause to reduce the mechanical strength by corrosion degradation and may cause to damage the wires by micro cracks. Accordingly, this study presents the effects of mechanical properties through the corrosion of ACSR.
The high alkaline property in the concrete pore solution protects the embedded steel in concrete from corrosion due to aggressive ions attack. However, a continuous supply of those ions, in particular, chlorides altogether with a pH fall in electrochemical reaction on the steel surface eventually depassivate the steel to corrode. To mitigate chloride-induced corrosion in concrete structures, finely grained mineral admixtures, for example, pulverized fuel ash (PFA), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and silica fume (SF) have been often advised to replace ordinary Portland cement (OPC) partially as binder. A consistent assessment of those partial replacements has been rarely performed with respect to the resistance of each binder to corrosion, although the studies for each binder were extensively looked into in a way of measuring the corrosion rate, influence of microstructure or chemistry of chlorides ions with cement hydrations. The paper studies the behavior of steel corrosion, chloride transport, pore structure and buffering capacity of those cementitious binders. The corrosion rate of steel in mortars of OPC, 30% PFA, 60% GGBS and 10% SF respectively, with chloride in cast ranging from 0.0 to 3.0% by weight of binder was measured at 7, 28 and 150 days to determine the chloride threshold level and the rate of corrosion propagation, using the anodic polarization technique. Mercury intrusion porosimetry was also applied to cement pastes of each binder at 7 and 28 days to ensure the development of pore structure. Finally, the release rate of bound chlorides (i.e. buffering capacity) was measured at 150 days. The chloride threshold level was determined assuming that the corrosion rate is beyond 1-2 mA/$m^3$ at corrosion and the order of the level was OPC > 10% SF > 60% GGBS > 30% PFA. Mercury intrusion porosimetry showed that 10% SF paste produced the most dense pore structure, followed by 60% GGBS, 30% PFA and OPC pastes, respectively. It was found that OPC itself is beneficial in resisting to corrosion initiation, but use of pozzolanic materials as binders shows more resistance to chloride transport into concrete, thus delay the onset of corrosion.
