PURPOSES : This paper presents a mix design method for using steel slag as an aggregate for asphalt mixtures. METHODS : Steel slag has a different density and absorption rate than natural aggregates. The asphalt content was calculated according to the steel slag characteristics, and the formula for aggregate-gradation correction was presented. RESULTS : The asphalt mix was designed using the proposed equations. Using the proposed mix design method, it was possible to design the asphalt mixture according to the target-usage amount of the recycled aggregate. CONCLUSIONS : The suggested method can be used for asphalt mix design using aggregates with different densities and absorption rates. It is expected to contribute to quality improvement by ensuring accurate calculation of mixing ratios for steel slag asphalt mixtures.
For quantitative analysis of nano-crystal structure, we reported the accuracy improvement method of lattice parameters measured from electron diffraction. For calculation of Au lattice parameters used as a standard crystal structure, it was considered two different acquisition methods (detector and enegy-filter) and three different calculation methods (conventional, least-square and regression fit). As a result, the measurement reliability could be enhanced by using CCD camera which gives higher performance, while energy-filtering did not affect the improvement the camera constant accuracy. Also, the accuracy of lattice parameters could be improved up to $10^{-4}$ order by regression fitting with correction formula. Finally, it is expected that the combination of regression fitting and intensity extraction from energy-filtered precession electron diffraction gives a solution of quantitative structure analysis for unknown nano-crystals.
The present study investigated various sales training programs used by apparel companies and compared each other in order to provide an important information for developing effective training programs for professional salesperson. Sixty eight companies were used and grouped into four categories based on brand characteristics : domestic national brand(DNB), casual brand(CB), foreign brand(FB) and domestic designer brand(DDB). Data were collected from the managers in charge or training salesperson by both questionnaires and personal and telephone interviews. Data were collected during July in 1998, and analyzed by using ANOVA, Duncan\`s multiple range test, and Chi-square test. Since the sample size was small, Yates\` correction formula was used to maximize statistical validity in non-parametric procedure of Chi-square test. The main purpose of sales training indicated by the companies were to satisfy customers and to maximize the profit. Significant differences were found among the groups in the importance level of training contents such as knowledge, and customer relation, training methods, place, and duration/frequency of training at training center.
In this paper, expandable bobbin type multiple integrated coupled-inductor applied 4-paralled switching rectifier was proposed. To design the proposed inductor easily, inductance designing formula was derived through magnetic circuit analysis of the 4-paralleled integrated coupled-inductor. Furthermore, to verify practicality of the proposed inductor, it was applied in 600W class 4-paralleled interleaved switching rectifier, and the steady-state characteristics of the proposed inductor and discrete inductors were compared. Consequently, it was showed that the proposed inductor can replace the conventional discrete inductors with alternative electrical characteristic standard, hence miniaturization of the SMPS can be achieved. From the test result, test circuit with the proposed inductor showed maximum 97.1% of power conversion efficiency and under 18W of power loss where the circuit with discrete inductors showed 96.7% and 20W respectively.
Purpose: The current study aimed to evaluate the reliability for the combined refractive power when a spherical lens and a cylindrical lens were overlapped in a trial frame. Methods: The refractive powers, central thickness and peripheral thickness of spherical trial lenses and cylindrical lenses with negative power were measured. The combined refractive power of the spherical and cylindrical lenses was measured by auto lens meter. Measurement was repeated by changing the insertion order, and their results were further compared with the calculated combined refractive power. Results: There was no correlation between the variation of central and peripheral thickness in trial lenses and that of the lens power. Among 79 trial lenses, 3 trial lenses wasn't met the international standard. The refractive power calculated by Gullstrand's formula that could compensate vertex distance had smaller difference with the estimated power when compared with that calculated by thin lens formula however, it was significantly different from the estimated power. The refractive powers were generally apparent regardless of the insertion order of a spherical lens and a cylindrical lens: thin lens formula > actual measurements > Gullstrand's formula. The error was only found in cylindrical power calculated by Gullstrand's formula when inserted a spherical lens inside and a cylindrical lens outside however, the error was found in both of cylindrical and spherical powers calculated by Gullstrand's formula when inserted as a opposite order. By comparing actual measurements of equivalent spherical power, the accuracy was higher and the possibility of over-correction was lower when inserted a spherical lens inside and a cylindrical lens outside. Conclusions: From the results, those were revealed that the combined refractive power is influenced by the factors other than the vertex distance and the refractive power varies in accordance with the insertion order of a spherical lens and a cylindrical lens. Thus, it can be suggested that the establishment of standard for these is neccesaty.

The environment and biological studies of tritium have been carried out in the advanced countries since the mid 1950's. In the case of a potential tritium exposure, the usual procedure is trifium bioassay (as HTO) in human urine in order to determine the amount of tritium deposited in the body called tritium body burden. The maximum permissible body burden(MPBB) of tritium in total body is about $30{\mu}Ci/{\ell}$ for body tissue. In the bioassay, the most common investigation level for detection of tritium in urine is 1/10th of MPBB. For this bioassay project, the first priority is given to obtaining a quench correction curve. This consideration is necessary because of the variability in color of human urine specimens. Quenching effect in this case mainly is caused by the absorption of scintillation light flashes by the urine sample. By the least squares method on the statistical basis, an estimated formula for quench correction curve was determined to be Y = 0.771 + 1.836 ${\tmes}10^{-4}$X, where the efficiency(Y) was ranged from about 12% to 31% in the liquid scientillation counting. In this paper, a brief theory concerning the biological half-life of tritium and the retention formula to apply to systematically distributed tritium are described.
The fundamental period is an important parameter for seismic design and seismic risk assessment of building structures. In this paper, a simplified theoretical method to predict the fundamental period of masonry infilled reinforced concrete (RC) frame is developed based on the basic theory of engineering mechanics. The different configurations of the RC frame as well as masonry walls were taken into account in the developed method. The fundamental period of the infilled structure is calculated according to the integration of the lateral stiffness of the RC frame and masonry walls along the height. A correction coefficient is considered to control the error for the period estimation, and it is determined according to the multiple linear regression analysis. The corrected formula is verified by shaking table tests on two masonry infilled RC frame models, and the errors between the estimated and test period are 2.3% and 23.2%. Finally, a probability-based method is proposed for the corrected formula, and it allows the structural engineers to select an appropriate fundamental period with a certain safety redundancy. The proposed method can be quickly and flexibly used for prediction, and it can be hand-calculated and easily understood. Thus it would be a good choice in determining the fundamental period of RC frames infilled with masonry wall structures in engineering practice instead of the existing methods.
The previous expression for the diffracted neutron intensity by a highly oriented polycrystalline is modified using the Kunitomi's formula of the crystal reflectivity The method of studying the preferred orientation in metals with white neutron is proposed utilizing the above formula and the fact that the real position of the diffraction of certain grain in the sample can be found by the comparison of the smaller angle part of the maxwellian curve of the calculated intensity of neutrons diffracted and the experimenal curves. The most probable wavelength of thermal neutrons from the reactor is found by the measurement of the neutron spectrum with the correction for the crystal about the multiple reflection and the absorption of neutrons and turned out to be 1.025 $\pm$ 0.001$\AA$. The preferred orientations of some electric steel sheets, mostly with the cube-on-face orientations, are investigated by the present method. The orientations of most grains relative to the rolling directions are found to be within 5 degrees. It is found the most of theories for large crystals may be extended to highly oriented polycrystalline materials without extensive modification.

In this study, the epoch adjustment model was developed to correct GPS precise point positioning result to be suitable for the current geodetic datum of Korea which is tied at past epoch statically. The model is based on the formula describing crustal movements, and the formula is composed of several parameters. To determine the parameters, the data gathered at 14 permanent GPS stations for 10 years, from 2000 to 2011, were processed using GIPSY-OASIS II. It was possible to determine the position of permanent GPS stations with an error range of 16mm and the position of check points with an error range of 12mm by appling the model to GPS precise point positioning result. It is considered that more precise model could be calculated by using GPS data of more permanent GPS stations.

In "The region of the body in which abdomen pain manifests(腹痛有部分)" of "Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑)", the abdomen is divided into the upper abdomen(大腹), umbilicus area(臍腹) and lower abdomen(小腹), which are in turn assigned to 3 Yins of greater yin(太陰), lesser yin(少陰) and reverting yin(厥陰) respectively to explain the causes and treatments of abdomen pain according to their locations. Meanwhile, the present Korean medicine tends to issue herbal formula without considering the cause of regional abdomen pain and the aspect of cold and heat(寒熱), deficiency and excess(虛實) in the symptom. This fragmentary treatment may bring out a serious failure. For the correction of this problem, the literature study on "The region of the body in which abdomen pain manifests(腹痛有部 分)" of "Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑)" was carried out to obtain the following conclusions. In "The region of the body in which abdomen pain manifest (腹痛有部分)" of "Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑)", it turned out that the use of herbal formula for the abdomen pain was the integrated one of herbal formulas for the abdomen pain in the external contraction such as cold damage yin condition(傷寒陰證) and cold in the middle condition(中寒證) and that the cause of abdomen pain was the explanation of diverse internal causes for the abdomen pain. And it was also found that the assignment of the upper abdomen(大腹), umbilicus area(臍腹) and lower abdomen(小腹) to 3 Yins had the locational and meridian meanings of 3 Yins according to internal causes and external contraction to get the basis of abdomen pain treatment in dividing it into 3 Yins.
