An Integrated Model of CSR Perception and TAM on Intention to Adopt Mobile Banking

  • The purpose of this paper is to (1) evaluate a proposed conceptual model based on integrated Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); (2) compare the differences between Vietnam and South Korea regarding the effects of consumer perception of CSR activities and technology acceptance on intention to adopt mobile banking. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted to analyze the data collected from the field survey questionnaires administered to a convenience sample of Vietnamese and Korean banking customers. The results showed that there is a difference between South Korea and Vietnam with regard to intention to use mobile banking services. While the effects of social responsibility and environmental responsibility on trust, trust on perceived usefulness, perceived risk on intention to use, perceived usefulness on intention to use were significant in the context of Vietnam but those effects were not significant in South Korea. Therefore, this study has attempted to fill this gap by empirically examining some of the important factors influencing the adoption of m-banking from the Vietnamese and Korean customers' perspectives. Finally, practical and theoretical implications for both banks and researchers in the m- banking context are also discussed in the concluding section.

The Effects of Franchise Firm's Reputation on Trust and Loyalty (외식프랜차이즈 기업의 평판이 신뢰와 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - Recently, the food service franchise market is experiencing rapid growth and competition is intensifying. Therefore, consumer choice has expanded, and reputation management has become important as a strategy for survival of corporations. Based on previous studies, this research proposed the theoretical framework about the structural relationships among reputation, trust(cognitive trust, affective trust), and loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology - This study examined the structural relationship between reputation, trust, and loyalty from the customer's perspective. Based on comprehensive validation procedures across nine food service Franchise firm types, This study found support for a five-dimensional scale with the following dimensions: Customer Orientation, Employer Brand, Reliable and Financially Strong Company, Product and Service Quality, and Social and Environmental Responsibility. In order to verify the research purposes, research model and hypotheses were developed. The data were collected from 227 food service franchise consumers through online survey. The data was analyzed with SPSS 24.0 and Amos 23.0 statistical program. Result - The results of the study are as follows. First, customer orientation, reliable·financially strong company and product·service quality have significant impact on corporate cognitive trust. And employer brand, product/service quality and social·environmental responsibility have significant impact on corporate affective trust. Second, cognitive trust and affective trust have significant impacts on consumer loyalty. Conclusions - The implications of this study are following as: From the theoretical perspective, this study considers trust as two dimensions such as cognitive and affective, not a single dimension, and identify what dimensions of franchise firms affect consumers' reputation perception and in turn lead cognitive and affective trust, and loyalty. This study also provides several managerial implications. In the franchise market where competition is intensifying, it is very important to analyze the attitudes of consumers in order to gain an advantage in competition with other competitors. In this study, it is meaningful that the study was conducted on consumers who have experience using a restaurant franchise company. Also, reputation is necessary to pay attention to the company because it is an important variable that strengthens with customer through confidence in food service franchise business, and leads loyalty and consumer consumption. Therefore, marketers should develop marketing strategies considering various reputation factors.

The Impact of Corporate Image on Employees' Alturistic Behavior in Franchise Industry: Mediating Role of Organizational Trust and Affective Commitment (프랜차이즈 기업이미지가 종업원의 이타적 행동에 미치는 영향: 조직신뢰와 정서적 몰입의 매개역할)

  • Purpose - Previous studies about corporate image generally explore how corporate image affects a company's effectiveness from the consumer view. However this study attempts to explore the impacts of corporate image (reliability, friendly, corporate social responsibility, and innovation) on employees' altruistic behaviors in the franchise industry context. This study also examine whether organizational trust and affective commitment play a mediating role in the relationship between corporate image and employees' altruistic behaviors. The authors developed several hypotheses to achieve these purposes. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected from employees in food-service franchise companies located in Seoul, Korea. Among a total of 363 questionnaires distributed, 294(response rate of 81%) questionnaires were returned. After excluding 18 invalid respondent questionnaires, 276 valid questionnaires(response rate of 76%) were coded and analyzed using frequency, confirmatory factor analysis, correlations analysis, and structural equation modeling with SPSS 21 and SmartPLS 3.0. Result - The findings of the study are as follows: First, friendly, CSR, and innovation had positive effects on organizational trust, but reliability did not have a significant effect on organizational trust. Second, reliability and friendly of corporate image had positive effects on affective commitment, but CSR and innovation did have a significant effect on affective commitment. Third, organizational trust and affective commitment had positive effects on employees' altruistic behaviors. Conclusions - The aim of this study is to investigate the franchise corporate image as a significant influencing factor of employees' altruistic behaviors. The data were collected from only employees from franchising companies. The findings might vary from position to position. Future studies need to collect and compare data from managers. Future studies need to consider other variables that affect employees' altruistic behaviors. For example, leadership and market orientation might influence employees' attitude and behaviors. Also, future research should include other variables and it may have limitations in sample representative because of sampling franchise corporate in Seoul. Future studies will include franchise corporate all over the country. Future studies can also consider other variables (e.g., job performance and turnover intentions) to measure employee performance at the level of individuals and identify the impact of employee performance on business performance at the level of corporate.

Market Reaction for KRX SRI Index Revision (KRX SRI Index 구성종목 신규편입 시점의 주가반응에 관한 연구)

  • In today's fast-paced capitalistic society, a primary concern is whether to invest capital in any way to increase profits. In recent years, many companies have emphasized ethics and practiced corporate social responsibility activities. These activities are not only required to have at the end of the company. Bringing the ultimate goal of profit maximization is one way to contribute to the development of society and the economy. Investors are aware of corporate social responsibility activities and have begun to reflect this in their investments. We studied the behavior of a newly incorporated company's stock price on the KRX SRI Index using a scale that indicates the level of social responsibility for companies in the domestic stock market. Socially responsible investment involves an excellent company that looks out and looks for additional effects on the stock price of imports and improves the reliability of investors through an event study. The results show that the company we examined has a positive impact on the market. This study confirms the hypothesis that additional stock market reaction will occur when superior companies are newly incorporated in the KRX SRI Index and gain investors' trust. The results demonstrate that becoming a newly incorporated corporation in the KRX SRI Index is positive information to investors.

Effects of Integrity, Ability, and Benevolence on Trust Buildup in Information Technology Environment (정보기술환경에서 무결성, 능력, 배려 요인이 신뢰에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석)

  • We study how the three antecedents of trust such as integrity, ability and benevolence affect trust building, based on the articles extracted from the New York Times during 1981-2010. Major findings are that the ratio of negative impact on trust from integrity is 86%, whereas the ratios of positive impact on trust from ability and benevolence are 70% and 71% respectively. Statistical tests show that the hypothesis that the negative impact of integrity on trust build-up will be higher is supported, but the most unstructured benevolence related hypotheses are not confirmed due to small sample sizes. Based on the study, we suggest that the future direction of IT application should accommodate benevolence factor seriously to fulfill corporate social responsibility.

Effects of Crisis History & Crisis Information Disclosure on Corporate Trust among Chinese Consumers: Focus on Corporate Ability Crisis & CSR Crisis (위기 이력과 위기공개 타이밍이 중국 소비자의 기업 신뢰에 미치는 영향: 기업 능력 위기와 CSR 위기 중심으로)

  • Negative perceptions about corporate social responsibility (CSR) crises and repeated crises are increasing. It is necessary to examine the effects of a proactive strategy of disclosing crisis information against the negative perceptions. The research is intended to analyze ability-based trust, and benevolence-based trust by crisis type, crisis history, and timing of crisis disclosure. In this regard, a 2 (crisis history: present vs. absent) x 2 (crisis type: corporate ability crisis vs CSR crisis) x 2 (timing of crisis disclosure: stealing thunder vs thunder) between-groups design experiment was conducted. Research results show crisis type and crisis history have significant interaction effects on ability-based trust. In the CSR crisis, the case with crisis history shows lower ability-based trust than the case without crisis history. Timing of crisis disclosure showed significant interactions with crisis history and crisis type. The stealing thunder strategy heigntened ability-based trust and benevolence-based trust against the CSR crises and the cases without crisis history more than the corporate ability crises and the cases with crisis history. Considering that the stealing thunder strategy is more effective with the CSR crises than the corporate ability crises, the research results suggest that future CSR crisis responses should prepare active disclosure of crisis information before news media disclosure of such information.

The Effects of Consumer's Corporate Association on Self-image Congruence, and Satisfaction in Food Company: Moderating Role of Consumer's Trust (식품기업에 대한 소비자의 기업연상이 자아이미지 일치성 및 만족도에 미치는 영향 : 신뢰의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effects of consumer's trust on the relationships among consumer's corporate association, self image congruence and satisfaction in the food companies. The survey was administerd to 215 consumers living for Seoul in Korea. The results indicated that the proposed model fit to the data well(${\chi}^2$(df=113)=221.565, GFI=.889, CFI=.960, RMSEA=067). The finding showed that consumer's corporate ability(${\beta}=.323$) and corporate social responsibility(${\beta}=.454$) among corporate association have a significantly positive effect on their self image congruence and self image congruence significantly positive effect on consumer satisfaction(${\beta}=.339$). In addition, consumer's corporate ability was significantly positive effect on their satisfaction(${\beta}=.373$). Also, this study found moderating effects of consumer's trust on the relationship between corporate association and consumer satisfaction, the results indicated that significant relationships varied to consumer's trust level. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

  • Recently, some fashion retailers have initiated sustainable actions in the form of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to address consumers' social concerns. This study intends to combine the concept of CSR motivation attributions with brand extension literature in order to examine how consumers' trust of a parent brand affects their CSR motivation attributions and ultimately their attitudes towards parent-brand CSR activities and sustainable extension lines. A self-administered online survey was conducted using scenarios describing a fast fashion retailer introducing a sustainable line. Data from 303 female U.S. consumers, aged between 18 and 34 years, were used for the statistical analysis. Data analyses were conducted using SPSS 21.0 for descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and regression analysis. The results revealed that all hypotheses were supported. The findings show that consumers' trust of a parent brand has an indirect impact on positive attitudes towards the parent brand's CSR activities as well as the sustainable extension product line, mediating positive evaluations of the brand's social CSR motivations. In addition, this study suggests consumers' prior trust of the parent brand is a variable that affects consumers' evaluation of CSR motivation sincerity. Marketing suggestions and thoughts based on the findings of this study were provided.

  • Companies engaged in the enterprise, while still at the start will have social responsibility. But recently, more and more companies will shorten the life expectancy of a corporate environment and is also rapidly changing. In this study, the longevity of global enterprises through the company's longevity factor analysis, that has continued to gain corporate answer. DuPont's global corporate giant Siemens and the longevity of the two factors in analyzing the factors that change the business portfolio, risk management, and continuous research and development, trust management, environmental management and other factors have been described. This ongoing internal and external environment analysis and core competencies by strengthening the implementation of responsible management as the core of the upcoming general management are appearing.

CSR and Firm Reputation from Employee Perspective

  • This research focuses on the importance of corporate social responsibility in building the company's reputation. Experts have studied CSR as an antecedent of a company's reputation, but the mechanisms underlying this process are rarely explored. Therefore, to fill this research gap, we demonstrate CSR's implementation combined with organizational justice based on discrepancy and equity theory. This study involved 210 employees in a family company. The study's analysis method uses Structural Equation Model (SEM), SmartPLS, with a five-step measurement and analysis procedure. The variables in this study are CSR implementation, organizational justice, employee trust, firm reputation, organizational objectiveness, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and job performance. The results found that some of the direct relationships stated were not significant, but all demonstrations of indirect links were substantial. Besides, optimal CSR and organizational justice provide a reliable and positive domino effect in increasing the role and consequences of employee trust and firm reputation. The findings in this study confirm that upstream-downstream job performance causality can be successfully achieved if job satisfaction has been realized, job satisfaction can be achieved if organizational commitment can also be recognized, and organizational commitment can be developed. Reflection and influence, rather than organizational attractiveness becomes essential.
