  • We have made an investigation on the radial and azimuthal wave modes of full halo coronal mass ejections (HCMEs). For this, we consider 24 HCMEs which are simultaneously observed by SOHO and STEREO A & B from August 2010 to August 2012 when they were roughly in quadrature. Using the SOHO/LASCO C3 and STEREO COR2 A & B running difference images, we estimate the instantaneous apparent speeds of the HCMEs at 24 different position angles. Major results from this study are as follows. First, there are quasi-periodic variations of the instantaneous radial velocity with the periods ranging from 24 to 48 mins. Second, the amplitudes of instant speed variations are about a third of the projected speeds. Third, the amplitudes are found to have a weak anti-correlation with period. Our preliminary identification from SOHO observations shows that there are several distinct radial and azimuthal wave modes: m=0 (radial) for five events, m=1 for eleven events, m=2 for three events, and unclear for the other events. In addition, we are making a statistical investigation on the oscillation of 733 CMEs to understand their physical origins.

  • In this study we have made a statistical investigation on the kinematic classification of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) using about 4,000 SOHO/LASCO CMEs from 1996 to 2015. For this we use their SOHO/LASCO C3 data and exclude all poor events. Using the constant acceleration model, we classify these CMEs into three groups: Acceleration group, Constant Velocity group, and Deceleration group. For classification we adopt four different methods: Acceleration method, Velocity Variation method, Height Contribution method, and Visual Inspection method. Our major results are as follows. First, the fractions of three groups depend on the method used. Second, the results of the Height Contribution method are most consistent with those of the Visual Inspection method, which is thought to be most promising. Third, the fractions of different kinematic groups for the Height contribution method are: Acceleration (35%), Constant speed (47%), and Deceleration (18%). Fourth, the fraction strongly depend on CME speed; the fraction of Acceleration decreases from 0.6 to 0.05 with CME speed; the fraction of Constant increases from 0.3 to 0.7; the fraction of Deceleration increases from 0.1 to 0.3. Finally we present dozens of CMEs with non-constant accelerations. It is found that about 40 % of these CMEs show quasi-periodic oscillations.

  • Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) plans to develop a coronagraph to measure the coronal electron density, temperature, and speed using four different filters around 400 nm, where strong Fraunhofer lines from the photosphere are scattered by coronal electrons. During the total solar eclipse occurring on August 21 across USA, KASI will organize an expedition team to demonstrate the coronagraph measurement scheme and the instrumental technology. The observation site is in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA. We plan to build two coronagraphs without occulter to improve signal to noise ratio. In addition, images of white light corona, wide field background, and all sky are planned to be taken with DSLR cameras. We will present the preliminary results of the expedition.

  • The recent study of Chae et al. (2017) found a one-to-one correspondence between plasma blobs outflowing along a ray formed after a coronal mass ejection (CME) and small X-ray flares. In the present work, we have examined the spatial configuration and the eruption process of the flares that are associated with the blobs by analyzing EUV images and magnetograms taken by the SDO/AIA and HMI. We found that the main flare and the successive small flares took place in a quadrupolar magnetic configuration characterized by predominant magnetic fields of positive polarity, two minor magnetic fragments of negative polarity, and a curved polarity inversion line between them, which suggests that the formation process of the blobs may be similar to that of the parent CME. We also found that the successive flares resulted in a gradual change of the quadrupolar magnetic configuration, and the relevant migration of flaring kernels. The three-dimensional geometry and the property of the current sheet, that is often supposed to be embedded in an observed post-CME ray, seem to keep changing because of mutual feedback between the successive flares and the temporal change of the magnetic field configuration. Our results suggest that the observed post-CME rays may not reflect the characteristics of the current sheet responsible for the impulsive phase of the flare.

  • Temporal bone CT scan side skull fracture. In addition to the confirmation of the ossicles, such as fractures and dislocations, temporomandibular facial fractures, deformities surgery helps to establish a science plan. Cochlear implant surgery has been performed in the state before and after identifying purposes. Test methods are being implemented by the Conventional direct axial and Direct coronal scan, the basic method of Temporal bone CT. Helical scan is a fast Volumetric data obtained compared with the Conventional scan, the patient reduced the dose, and there are some advantages, such as reduced Beam hardening streak artifacts caused by dental fillings. This study is a comparative analysis by dose reduction for patients with a dose according to the conventional scan method and then effective from 2015 by helical scan method performed in 2014 through the retrospective survey, which was then optimized for the purpose of inspection.

  • To determine the thickness of coronal hard structure the minimal distance between pupal surface and outer surface of crown was measured by means of Bowley gauge on extracted first molars. Upper(28 teeth) and lower(24 teeth) were carefully collected from 30-39 years of age and male. The teeth were split mesio-distally through central pit. On the split surface various part which are deeply related in cavity preparation were measured (schematic drawing). The results were as follows: A : Distance from mesio-cervical enamel to pulp chamber surface. upper $2.63{\pm}0.19$(mm) Lower $2.18{\pm}0.27$(um) B : Distance from mesial chamber ceiling to mesial surface upper $2.75{\pm}0.34$ Lower $2.62{\pm}0.31$ C : Distance from mesial chamber ceiling to occlusal surface upper $3.82{\pm}0.51$ Lower $3.49{\pm}0.50$ D : Distance from distal chamber ceiling to occlusal surface upper $4.28{\pm}0.69$ Lower $3.90{\pm}0.52$ E : Distance from distal chamber ceiling to distal surface upper $2.79{\pm}0.45$ Lower $2.41{\pm}0.40$ F : Distance from disto cervical enamel to pulp chamber surface upper $2.49{\pm}0.24$ Lower $2.39{\pm}0.25$.

  • An endodontically treated tooth is likely to be brittle than a vital tooth. Internal structure of the tooth has been weakened due to a significant removal of dentin by coronal access, canal preparation. There are many controversies concerning with various methods of reinforcing an intact anterior tooth that has endodontic treatment. In this experiment, 128 extracted maxillary anterior teeth were endodontically treated, and prepared with 4 methods of restorations; Composite resin filling with zinc phosphate cement, composite resin filling without zinc phosphate cement, composite resin filling with post, and metal crown with post. An Instron testing machine was used to measure the fracture loads of the specimens. The means of the failure loads for the 4 groups were compared by F-test statistically and the failure modes were observed. The results were as follows; 1. There were no statistically significant difference between the failure loads of the four methods of restoration. 2. Teeth without post were fractured in a horizontal or oblique plane through upper or middle third of the root. 3. In the posted teeth, fractures were occurred around the post. 4. In the metal crowned teeth with post, the fracture were occurred around the post or coronal area.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to assess the accuracy of preoperative cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), when justified for other reasons, in locating the apical foramen and establishing the working length. Materials and Methods: Six electronic databases were searched for studies on this subject. All studies, of any type, were included if they compared measurements of working length with preoperative CBCT to measurements using an electronic apex locator (EAL) or histological reference standard. Due to the high levels of heterogeneity, an inverse-variance random-effects model was chosen, and weighted mean differences were obtained with 95% confidence intervals and P values. Results: Nine studies were included. Compared to a histological reference standard, CBCT indicated that the apical foramen was on average 0.40 mm coronal of its histological position, with a mean absolute difference of 0.48 mm. Comparisons were also performed to an EAL reference standard, but the conclusions could not be considered robust due to high levels of heterogeneity in the results. Conclusion: A low level of evidence is produced suggesting that preoperative CBCT shows the apical foramen to be on average 0.40 mm coronal to its histological position, with a mean absolute difference of 0.48 mm.

  • To derive coronal temperature, electron density and nonthermal velocity, we have analyzed high resolution spectra (e.g., Fe XII 338.3, Fe XII 352.1, Fe XIV 334.2, Fe XIV 353.8, Fe XV 284.2, Fe XV 321.8, Fe XV 327.0, Fe XVI 335.4, and Fe XVI 360.8) taken from AR 6615 by SERTS (Solar Extreme Ultraviolet Rocket Telescope and Spectrograph). Important findings emerging from the present study are as follows: (1) Temperature estimated from Fe XVI 335.4 and Fe XIV, 334.2 is $\~2.4\times10^6 K$ and no systematic difference in temperature is found between the active region and its adjacent quiet region; (2) Mean electron density estimated from Fe XV is $\~3\times10^9 cm^{-3}\;and\;\~10^{10} cm^{-3}$ from Fe XII and Fe XIV; (3) Mean density of the active region is found to be higher than that of the quiet region by a factor of 2; (4) Nonthermal velocity estimated from Fe XV and Fe XVI is $20\times25 km\;s^{-l}$ which decreases with increasing ionization temperatures. This supports the notion that the nonthermal velocity declines outwards above the transition region.
