Maritime English vs Maritime English Communication

  • Success of communication at sea is directly linked with clear and complete delivery and receipt of the target message between interlocutors. It can be said that speakers' effective delivery of their intended message and listeners' precise decoding and accurate understanding are the keys to successful maritime communication. From this perspective, the scope of maritime English education and training needs to be reconceptualized and expanded into the area of communication itself, beyond the simple acquisition of, and familiarization with, IMO Standard Maritime Communication Phrases (SMCP). Therefore, in order to make learners' acquisition of marine communication knowledge more feasible, and the knowledge learned more practically applicable, training on effective and clear oral delivery should be also considered within the frame of maritime English education. Thus, critical training elements to realize this goal need to be suggested as guidelines. In this presentation, the theoretical background on this will be introduced in terms of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) and Lingua Franca Core (LFC), which are the current mainstream forms of English communication in the international business context. Based on this, six key training elements will be discussed; that is, speech rate, word groups, pauses, nuclear stresses, consonants (including consonant clusters), and vowels (specifically long and short vowels). Finally, the practical pedagogical methods of each element, and its actual application into a real ESP classroom, will be suggested.

12주간 적용 가능한 코어, 신경근 훈련의 동적 안정성 효과 (Dynamic Stability Effect of Applicable Core and Neuromuscular Training for 12 Weeks)

  • Recently, core and neuromuscular training(CNT) is emerging as a clinically relevant tool to improve neuromuscular control and to prevent sports injuries. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a 12 weeks CNT program on the dynamic stability after drop landing. The subjects attempted drop landing onto the force platform on single foot from a 40 cm height distance. The collected data was used to calculate the dynamic stability index. The Dynamic stability index was derived by measuring the medial-lateral stability index(MLSI), anterior-posterior stability index(APSI), and the vertical stability index(VSI). In comparison to the control group, the MLSI and APSI showed no difference, yet, it resulted in higher VSI. The results of this study suggest that CNT is worthwhile to be considered as a way to improve neuromuscular control and to prevent traumatic injuries. However, the results are taking into consideration to discuss the limitations of CNT and suggested future approaches.

비디오 감시 시스템을 위한 멀티코어 프로세서 기반의 병렬 SVM (Multicore Processor based Parallel SVM for Video Surveillance System)

  • 최근 지능형 비디오 감시 시스템은 영상 분석 및 인식기술 등의 보다 진화된 기술 개발을 요구하고 있다. 특히, 비디오 영상에서 객체를 식별하기 위하여 Support Vector Machine(SVM)과 같은 기계학습 알고리즘이 이용된다. 그러나 SVM은 대용량의 데이터를 학습시키기 위하여 많은 계산량이 필요하기 때문에 수행시간을 효율적으로 감소시키기 위하여 병렬처리 기법을 적용할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는, 최근 사용이 증가하고 있는 멀티코어 프로세서를 활용한 SVM 학습의 병렬처리 방법을 제안한다. 4-코어 프로세서를 이용한 실험 결과, 제안 방법은 SVM 학습의 순차처리 방법과 비교하여 2.5배 정도 수행시간이 감소됨을 확인하였다.

Dynamic instability and free vibration behavior of three-layered soft-cored sandwich beams on nonlinear elastic foundations

  • The purpose of the present work was to study the dynamic instability of a three-layered, symmetric sandwich beam subjected to a periodic axial load resting on nonlinear elastic foundation. A higher-order theory was used for analysis of sandwich beams with soft core on elastic foundations. In the higher-order theory, the Reddy's third-order theory was used for the face sheets and quadratic and cubic functions were assumed for transverse and in-plane displacements of the core, respectively. The elastic foundation was modeled as nonlinear's type. The dynamic instability regions and free vibration were investigated for simply supported conditions by Bolotin's method. The results showed that the responses of the dynamic instability of the system were influenced by the excitation frequency, the coefficients of foundation, the core thickness, the dynamic and static load factor. Comparison of the present results with the published results in the literature for the special case confirmed the accuracy of the proposed theory.

  • Obejectives : Slow-motion strengthening trainings build up muscles better than any other type of training, these exercises focus on balancing and strengthening the muscles in the anatomical center of the body - the core - which includes the back, hip and abdominal muscles. Methods : We had a concept of 'core', and compared core muscles with 12 meridian tendino-musculature based on Thomas Myers' myofascial meridian. Results : It has been suggested that the core muscles correspond to meridians of foot- three Yin and foot- three Yang. The study of core muscles strengthening exercise and movement therapy is requred.

JRTR 연구용원자로에 대한 최종 확률론적 안전성평가 (A Study on the Final Probabilistic Safety Assessment for the Jordan Research and Training Reactor)

  • This paper describes the work and the results of the final Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) for the Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR). This final PSA was undertaken to assess the level of safety for the design of a research reactor and to evaluate whether it is probabilistically safe to operate and reliable to use. The scope of the PSA described here is a Level 1 PSA, which addresses the risks associated with core damage. After reviewing the documents and its conceptual design, nine typical initiating events were selected regarding internal events during the normal operation of the reactor. AIMS-PSA (Version 1.2c) was used for the accident quantification, and FTREX was used as the quantification engine. 1.0E-15/yr of the cutoff value was used to deliminate the non-effective Minimal Cut Sets (MCSs) when quantifying the JRTR PSA model. As a result, the final result indicates a point estimate of 2.02E-07/yr for the overall Core Damage Frequency (CDF) attributable to internal initiating events in the core damage state for the JRTR. A Loss of Primary Cooling System Flow (LOPCS) is the dominant contributor to the total CDF by a single initiating event (9.96E-08/yr), and provides 49.4% of the CDF. General Transients (GTRNs) are the second largest contributor, and provide 32.9% (6.65E-08/yr) of the CDF.

다양한 유형의 불안정한 하중이 젊은 성인 여성의 스쿼트 시 코어와 하지 근활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Different Types of Unstable Loads on Core and Lower Extremity Muscle Activity During Squatting in Young Adult Women)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different types of unstable loads on core and lower limb muscle activity during squatting. Methods: Nineteen subjects (all females) with resistance experience but no unstable resistance experience participated in the study. Subjects performed squats under three load conditions, and core and lower limb muscle activity was measured during eccentric and concentric contractions. Results: During the eccentric contraction, core and hip flexor activity was significantly higher with the aqua bag than with the barbell or resistance band, and for the quadriceps, the resistance band was significantly higher than the barbell. During the concentric contraction phase, core and hamstring muscle activity was significantly higher with the aqua bag than with the barbell and elastic band (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Squats with an aqua bag increase core and biceps brachii activation and can be recommended as a training method to improve trunk stability.

최근 3년(2021-2023) 교원 중점 추진 방향 탐색 (Exploring the Direction of Teacher Training for the Past Three Years (2021-2023))

  • 이 연구의 목적은 최근 3년(2021년, 2022년, 2023년) 교육부 교원양성 연수과에서 발표하는 교원 연수 중점 추진 방향을 분석하여 미래 사회에 교원 연수의 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 최근 3년 교원 연수 추진 배경은 변화된 것이 없었다. 최근 3년의 교원 연수 추진 배경은 교원 전문성 신장, 미래 환경 대응, 교원 연수 질 제고, 교육정책 추진력 확보이다. 추진 배경 세부 내용도 최근 3년 변함이 없다. 둘째, 최근 3년 교원 연수 비전의 경우 교원 연수체제 혁신이다. 이를 위하여 2021년에는 미래 교육환경 변화 선도를, 2022년에는 미래 공교육 선도를, 2023년에는 개별 학생 맞춤형 교육지원을 비전으로 하고 있다. 연수 목표의 경우 2021년에는 교원 생애 단계에 맞는 지속적 전문성 신장과 미래 교육환경에 부합하는 교원 핵심역량 제고를, 2022년에는 미래 교육체제에 적합한 교원 역량 강화와 교원 연수 내실화를 통한 사회적 신뢰 확보를, 2023년에는 미래 교육체제에 적합한 교원 역량 강화와 교원 연수 내실화를 통한 교실 수업의 변화에 두고 있다. 최근 3년 교원 연수 중점 추진 방향은 3가지이다. 첫째, 맞춤형 연수지원, 둘째, 미래형 연수체제 강화, 셋째, 교원 연수 내실화이다. 이 세 가지는 최근 3년 모두 유사하다. 결론적으로 최근 3년 교원 연수 중점 추진 방향에는 큰 변화가 없었다.

  • Key factors enhancing transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing are of great interest to researchers and executives because training transfer and knowledge sharing activities are remarkable predictors of organizational growth. This study investigates the core motivations for boosting transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing. To empirically test the impacts of employee training, servant leadership and self-efficacy, a survey was conducted in small-medium sized companies. The data (N=292) were analyzed using structural equation modeling analysis. The results indicate that higher employee training positively leads to self-efficacy and transfer behavior of training. Servant leadership is positively leads to self-efficacy, transfer behavior of training, and knowledge sharing. Self-efficacy of employees induces greater transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing. Finally, transfer behavior of training encourages workers to increase knowledge sharing. This study represents an initial step to examine the psychological mechanism of improving employees' transfer behavior of training and knowledge sharing activities based on the employee training qualities and servant leaderships.

교원의 퍼실리테이터 수행지원 강화를 위한 연수 프로그램 개발 연구 (A Study on the Development of a Training Program to Reinforce the Teachers' Performance as Facilitators)

  • This research aims at developing a teachers' training program to reinforce teachers' capability to perform the action learning program. To accomplish this goal, the key value of the training program based on action learning, the process of the core learning activities, and the elements to support learners and facilitators respectively were deducted on the foundation of documentary research and case study, based on which, the program was developed through the formative test by professionals and application to the field. This research was applied to 105 middle or high school teachers, the participants of the in-service training on creative problem solving hosted by B metropolitan city for one week (30 hours) from 9 a.m. on Monday, January 25th, 2010 to 4 p.m. on Friday, January 29th. The result of this research is as follows. First, as for the key values of this study, (1) the team-based learning centered on the trainees, not lecturers-oriented, knowledge-transmitting training, is possible, (2)for each process, guidelines, related information, tools, and various kinds of media are supported just in time, and (3)a focus is given on fostering facilitators centered on teachers. Second, the process of the core learning activities of the teachers' training program based on action learning consists of the procedure of a prior lecture${\rightarrow}$break${\rightarrow}$investigation into problems${\rightarrow}$clarification of problems${\rightarrow}$drawing possible solutions${\rightarrow}$decision on the priority${\rightarrow}$making an action plan${\rightarrow}$performance${\rightarrow}$evaluation, and on each stage, the contents for the activities of teachers and learners and detailed supportive elements are offered.
