Development and Evaluation of a Simulation-based Education Course for Nursing Students (간호학생을 위한 시뮬레이션 기반교육과정 개발 및 평가)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a simulation-based education course and to evaluate the results after the application for second year nursing students. Methods: This study was a non-equivalent control pre-post design. Based on the clinical situation scenarios about patients with COPD and MI, a total of two simulation-based learning modules was developed. Pretest and posttest was conducted to evaluate the difference in critical thinking disposition, problem solving, and clinical competence between two groups of 102 students for the experimental group, 2007 and 90 students for the control group, 2006. The experimental group conducted a clinical performance evaluation in the final test, on December 10, 2007. Results: In the experimental group, knowledge related to learning objectives was significantly increased and core intervention was performed almost exactly, but the same result was not observed in domains of analysis of laboratory test, and nursing education for patients. Self-evaluated clinical competence and problem solving level were significantly more improved in the experimental group than control group, but critical thinking disposition level wasn't. Conclusion: In conclusion, a simulation-based education course needs to utilize self-directed learning module like computer-based learning through web contents and MicroSim and video productions for improving nursing students' critical thinking.

  • This paper deals with the magnetic properties under the rotational magnetic field on the electrical steel sheet by using Single Sheet Tester with two excitation coils. Actually, the magnetic flux of stator cores in running motors have the behaviour of rotating and alternating flux. In order to improve motor characteristics, it is require to estimate these magnetic properties. When the magnetic field vectors are rotating around in the plane of the sheet during one period of cycle, the magnetization properties and the core loss are measured and then, the results are compared with the magnetic properties obtained by the alternating magnetic fields.

  • A superconducting motor consisting of high temperature superconducting (HTS) rotor and air-core stator is under development in Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute. HTS motor was designed for having the rated power of 100hp at 1800 rpm. HTS field winding is composed of sixteen HTS race track shaped coils wound with stainless steel-reinforced Bi-2223 tape conductor by react and wind fabrication method. Nomex Paper was used for electrical insulation. Each of four magnet pole assemblies was constructed with four double pancake sub-coils, mechanically stacked and electrically in series. Four magnet assemblies were fixed on an aluminum support structure to make effective heat transfer. Critical current (Ic) of HTS field winding was 41A but minimum Ic of sub-coils was 35A at 77K and self field. Joule heat generated in HTS field winding was 2.11W at 77K and 35A.

A Study on Gap between Government's Institutions and Public People based on Ontology Inference about ICT Future Technology

  • This paper analyzes how much the gap existed between the public group and expert group using future issues and future core technologies that are announced in government institutions based on ontology. We calculated gap with two groups' point of view, one is expert groups' ideas that are based on future hopeful technologies documents, and another is public people ideas that are based on documents of contest that is hosted by 'Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP)', and 'Institute for Information & communications Technology Promotion (IITP)'. For calculating these, we suggested SDGM model. In the case of ETRI Meta-trend ICT Field, there is a little gap between expert group and public group, and another case that is XT (ETRI determined future technologies excluding ICT field) Field, the gap is increasing annually. Moreover, in the case of all ETRI Meta trend, the gap is bigger than ICT and XT field. We analyzed, also, KEIT's future issues for generalizing this model. The gap existed between two groups. Utilizing SDGM model of this paper, people can interpret easily how much the gap exists between future technologies and issues that are announced in institutions.

  • This paper describes the dynamic analysis method and the characteristics of rotating type transverse flux motors excited by permanent magnets; the machine is called TFRM in here. A prototype of TFRM, made by combing soft magnetic composite (SMC) core, is introduced first, then the magneto static and dynamic analysis methods are explained. Analysis results are compared with measured results, and finally the effects of the proposed dynamic analysis method and the characteristics of TFRM are discussed.

  • Recently, statement of Intent for ILN has been signed by 9 countries including Korea, initiated March of this year by NASA which invited countries having lunar exploration plans. Concept of ILN is placing several core set of instrumentation on the Moon, in order to maximize scientific return to all of the participants. Network measurements from various nodes on lunar surface is essential for understanding internal structure of the Moon and environment around the Moon. Currently, Core Instrument Working Group is discussing the scientific interests and instrumentation among participated countries. Korea also is looking over various ways to participate ILN. We will introduce the progress and possible lunar science of ILN and will discuss the science mission objectives.

  • 본 논문에서는 유럽 통신 표준화기구인 ETSI 의 SMGll에서 채택된 GSM Full Rate(FR) 보코더 알고리wma[1]을 Teak DSP Core를 이용하여 실시간 구현하였다. GSM FR 보코더는 유럽에서 사용하는 통신 시스템인 GSM 의 full-rate Traffic Channel(TCH)의 표준 코덱[2]으로서 GSM HR, GSM EFR GSM AMR과 더불어 모뎀칩 내에 장착되는 필수적인 음성 서비스이다. 구현된 GSM FR는 13.05kbps의 비트율을 가지고 있으며, 인코더와 디코더 기능 외에 voice activity detection(VAD)[3]블록과 DTX[4]블록 등의 부가 기능도 구현되어 있다. 구현에 사용된 Teak[5]는 DSP Group 의 16bit고정 소수점 DSP core로서 최대 140MIPS 의 성능을 낼 수 있고 400bits ALU 와 두개의 MAC 이 장착되어 있어 음성 및 채널 부호화기의 실시간 처리에 최적화 되어있다. 구현된 GSM FR 은 인코더와 디코더 부분이 각각 약 235 MIPS 및 1.19MIPS 의 복잡도를 나타내며, 사용된 메모리는 프로그램 ROM 3.9K words, 데이터 ROM(table) 396 words 및 RAM 932words이다.

  • Monodisperse, micron-sized, hybrid particles having a core-shell structure were prepared by coating the surface of poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) microspheres with silica and by copolymerizing acrylamide (AAm) to supply the hydrogen bonding effect by means of the amide groups. Tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) was then slowly dropped onto the medium under certain conditions. Because of the hydrogen bonding between the amide of the PMMA particles and the hydroxyl group of the hydrolyzed silanol, a silica shell was generated on the PMMA core particles. The morphology of the hybrid particles was investigated with transmission (TEM) and scanning (SEM) electron microscopy as a function of the medium conditions and the amount of TEOS. Improved thermal properties were observed by TGA analysis.

Calculated Critical Masses for Spherical Plutonium Core with Various Spherical Reflectors

  • Requirements necessary for the construction of a fast critical assembly in this country are briefly reviewed. The critial masses of a spherical plutonium core with various spherical reflectors and its thicknesses are calculated using IDX, which is a computer code written for fast reactor analysis. The compilation of this code was made on CDC 3300/Master and UNIVAC 1106/EXEC 8. The calculated results are completely depicted, and compared with other results in this report. The Russian formatted 29 group cross section set generated by ETOX-2 using ENDF/B Version II file at Hanford is used in the calculations.

Study of Winding Method to Reduce Stray Loss and Stator Core Vibration of Synchronous Machine

  • The fractional slot windings are widely used in rotating machine in order to increase the flexibility of design and improve the voltage waveform. However, the MMF wave of fractional-slot windings are found to contain unique harmonic component, which are designated as even order space flux harmonics, fractional number flux harmonics, or both. They may cause stray loss and stator core vibration. This paper proposes new winding methods "novel interspersed windings" and "expanded group windings" to reduce these harmonics. The advantages of two proposed windings are verified by using numerical analysis and measurement test of winding model.
