This paper proposes a simple deformation method for editing the trajectory of a walking motion with preserving its style. To this end, our method analyzes the trajectory of the root joint into the graph and deforms it by applying the graph Laplace operator. The trajectory of the root joint is presented as a graph with a vertex defined the position and direction at each time frame on the motion dataThe graph transforms the trajectory into the differential coordinate, and if the constraints are set on the trajectory vertex, the solver iterative approaches to the solution. By modifying the root trajectory, we can continuously vary the walking motion, which reduces the cost of capturing a whole motion that is required. After computes the root trajectory, other joints are copied on the root and post-processed as a final motion. At the end of our paper, we show the application that the character continuously walks in a complex environment while satisfying user constraints.
This study aimed to output augmented reality display using chroma-key so that power tiller simulator can be operated smoothly while wearing the head mounted display. In this paper, we propose a chroma-eliminating image filtering method. Experimental results show that the maximum and minimum values of hue, saturation and intensity were 0.52, 0.153, 0.57, 0.16, 1, and 0.12, respectively. A keypad was used to set the initial position of augmented reality adjusted with the front, back, top, bottom, left, and right buttons. The initial position value is always maintained and managed according to the trailer attachment and detachment. Finally, we show that the augmented reality merged with virtual image and the acquired image of operation device using coordinate values obtained from the HMD and the position tracking sensor as relative coordinates in Unity program that is the ultimate game development platform.
In this paper, we propose a gaze estimation network in which eye landmark position detection and gaze direction vector estimation are integrated into one deep learning network. The proposed network uses the Stacked Hourglass Network as a backbone structure and is largely composed of three parts: a landmark detector, a feature map extractor, and a gaze direction estimator. The landmark detector estimates the coordinates of 50 eye landmarks, and the feature map extractor generates a feature map of the eye image for estimating the gaze direction. And the gaze direction estimator estimates the final gaze direction vector by combining each output result. The proposed network was trained using virtual synthetic eye images and landmark coordinate data generated through the UnityEyes dataset, and the MPIIGaze dataset consisting of real human eye images was used for performance evaluation. Through the experiment, the gaze estimation error showed a performance of 3.9, and the estimation speed of the network was 42 FPS (Frames per second).
The purpose of this paper was to design the cable networks for mesh reflector antennas, considering the flexibility of structures. An effective form-find methodology is proposed. The whole parts of the cable networks are described by the absolute nodal coordinate formulation. Additionally, nonlinear deformation of the cable can be obtained. The form-finding analysis of the reflector with standard configuration is performed, to validate the proposed methodology. The truss ring structure is numerically modeled using the frame elements. To consider the flexibility of the truss ring as well as the cable net structure, an iteration analysis between the truss ring and the cable net under tensional forces is also performed in the form-finding process. The finial configuration of the reflector with tensioned cable networks is demonstrated.
In this study, a technique for estimating water surface velocity fields in the Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system using the GPS information of a propagating drone but not ground control points is developed. First, we determine the image direction in which the upper side of an image is directed based on the navigation information of the drone. Subsequently, we assign the start and end frames of the video used and determine the analysis range. Using these two frames, we segment the measurement cross-section into a few subsections at regular intervals. At these subsections, we analyze 30 frame images to create spatio-temporal volumes for calculating the velocity fields. The results of the developed method (propagating drone surface image velocimetry) are compared with those of the existing method (hovering drone surface image velocimetry), and relatively good agreement is indicated between both in terms of the velocity fields.
With advances in autonomous vehicles, there is a growing demand for more accurate position estimation. Especially, this is a case for a moving robot for the indoor operation which necessitates the higher accuracy in position estimation when the robot is required to execute the task at a predestined location. Thus, a method for improving the position estimation which is applicable to both the fixed and the moving object is proposed. The proposed method exploits the initial position estimation from Bluetooth beacon signals as observation signals. Then, it estimates the gravitational acceleration applied to each axis in an inertial frame coordinate through computing roll and pitch angles and combining them with magnetometer measurements to compute yaw angle. Finally, it refines the control inputs for an object with motion dynamics by computing acceleration on each axis, which is used for improving the performance of Kalman filter. The experimental assessment of the proposed algorithm shows that it improves the position estimation accuracy in comparison to a conventional Kalman filter in terms of average error distance at both the fixed and moving states.
For the purpose of utilization in 3-D conformal radiotherapy and whole body radiosurgery, the Whole Body 3-Dimensional Topographic Radiation Therapy System has been developed. Whole body frame was constructed in order to be installed on the couch. Radiopaque catheters were engraved on it for the dedicated coordinate system and a MeV-Green immobilizer was used for the patient setup by the help of side panels and plastic rods. By designing and constructing the whole body frame in this way, geometrical limitation to the gantry rotation in 3-D conformal radiotherapy could be minimized and problem which radiation transmission may be altered in particular incident angles was solved. By analyzing CT images containing information of patient setup with respect to the whole body frame, localization and coordination of the target is performed so that patient setup error may be eliminated between simulation and treatment. For the verification of setup, the change of patient positioning is detected and adjusted in order to minimize the setup error by means of comparison of the body outlines using 3 CCTV cameras. To enhance efficiency of treatment procedure, this work can be done in real time by watching the change of patient setup through the monitor. The method of image subtraction in IDL (Interactive Data Language) was used to visualize the change of patient setup. Rotating X-ray system was constructed for detecting target movement due to internal organ motion. Landmark screws were implanted either on the bones around target or inside target, and variation of target location with respect to markers may be visualized in order to minimize internal setup error through the anterior and the lateral image information taken from rotating X-ray system. For CT simulation, simulation software was developed using IDL on GUI(Graphic User Interface) basis for PC and includes functions of graphic handling, editing and data acquisition of images of internal organs as well as target for the preparation of treatment planning.
This paper introduces a new technique that reduces the search times and Improves the accuracy of motion estimation using high temporal and spatial correlation of motion vector. Instead of using the fixed first search Point of previously proposed search algorithms, the proposed method finds more accurate first search point as to compensating searching area using high temporal and spatial correlation of motion vector. Therefore, the main idea of proposed method is to find first search point to improve the performance of motion estimation and reduce the search times. The proposed method utilizes the direction of the same coordinate block of the previous frame compared with a block of the current frame to use temporal correlation and the direction of the adjacent blocks of the current frame to use spatial correlation. Based on these directions, we compute the first search point. We search the motion vector in the middle of computed first search point with two fixed search patterns. Using that idea, an efficient adaptive predicted direction search algorithm (APDSA) for block matching motion estimation is proposed. In the experimental results show that the PSNR values are improved up to the 3.6dB as depend on the Image sequences and advanced about 1.7dB on an average. The results of the comparison show that the performance of the proposed APDSA algorithm is better than those of other fast search algorithms whether the image sequence contains fast or slow motion, and is similar to the performance of the FS (Full Search) algorithm. Simulation results also show that the performance of the APDSA scheme gives better subjective picture quality than the other fast search algorithms and is closer to that of the FS algorithm.
In this paper through Honam high-speed railroad which is planned with the north and south axis, we will verify the feasibility of the coordinate conversion using railroad control points after regarding current planned-railroad as the linear central axises. From analysis, distortion of Y axis varies 21cm to 40cm diminishing to a gentle straight line, distortion of X axis varies 14cm to 29cm. Through a revision, the deviation value between the coordinates were 6mm to 9mm and it satisfied the allowable error of national geographic information institute which is following ITRF (International Terrestrial Reference Frame) and cadastral boundary survey(10cm). consequently the coordinate conversion is possible using railroad control points as common control points.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the ability of target localizations of Leksell GammaPlan(LGP) in Gamma Knife Subthalamotomy(or Pallidotomy, Thalamotomy) of functional diseases. To evaluate the accuracy of LGP's location settings, the difference Δr of the target coordinates calculated by LGP (or LSP) and author's algorithm was reviewed for 10 patients who underwent Deep Brain Stimulation(DBS) surgery. Δr ranged from 0.0244663 mm to 0.107961 mm. The average of Δr was 0.054398 mm. Transformation matrix between stereotactic space and brain atlas space was calculated using PseudoInverse or Singular Value Decomposition of Mathematica to determine the positional relationship between two coordinate systems. Despite the precise frame positioning, the misalignment of yaw from -3.44739 degree to 1.82243 degree, pitch from -4.57212 degree to 0.692063 degree, and rolls from -6.38239 degree to 7.21426 degree appeared. In conclusion, a simple in-house algorithm was used to test the accuracy for location settings of LGP(or LSP) in Gamma Knife platform and the possibility for Gamma Knife Subthalamotomy. The functional diseases can be treated with Gamma Knife Radiosurgery with safety and efficacy. In the future, the proposed algorithm for target localizations' QA will be a great contributor to movement disorders' treatment of several Gamma Knife Centers.
