Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to discuss success factors behind ATO distribution channels by examining successful partnerships between producers and alternative trading organizations (ATOs). Research design, data, and methodology - This is a case study, an analytical approach, which illustrates how the partnership between producers and ATOs has strengthened the fair trade and the performance of participants in the trade based on the example of the trading relationship between Beautiful Coffee, an alternative trading organization dealing coffee related products, and the coffee cooperative union (CCU), a coffee producing cooperative in Gulmi, Nepal. Results - Beautiful Coffee in the partnership with HELVETAS empowered small coffee farmers by a successful institutionalization of CCU that consolidated the distribution channel to be more efficient. Also, Beautiful Coffee and its partnership with KOICA have tried to increase productivity and quality of coffee beans. Conclusions - The case of Beautiful Coffee demonstrates that the partnership between producers and alternative trading organizations (ATOs) has benefited the fair trade partners. In other words, Beautiful Coffee's partnerships with a NGO working in the local producing area, HELVETAS, and a government aid agency, KOICA could strengthen the relationship between the producers and the ATO, and thus contributes to the whole distribution channel.

This study is about how does collaboration activities of large company's Supplier Relationship(SR) effect on manufacturing capability and performance of a SMEs. In this research, there are many ways to analyze data. The methods used in the study are hypothesis testing and empirical testing based on SPSS 21.0 and AMOS21.0, factorial analysis for validity and reliability of questionnaire item, construct validity and variance extracted as a research model, and subcontract-tiers as a moderating variable. As a result, the effect of the collaboration activities of large business did not have the significant effect on supplier's manufacturing capability. It showed different result by subcontract-tiers In first-tier cooperative, collaboration activities of large business had significant effect on manufacturing capability, but it did not have the significant effect on performance. In second/third-tier cooperative, manufacturing capability and performance are significantly affected by manufacturing practices. In conclusion, this study will suggest the direction how to achieve an accompanied growth between large enterprises and SMEs.

This paper proposes a cooperative control algorithm for a dual-arms robot which is carrying an object to the desired location. When the dual-arms robot is carrying an object from the start to the goal point, the optimal path in terms of safety, energy, and time needs to be selected among the numerous possible paths. In order to quantify the carrying efficiency of dual-arms, DAMM (Dual Arm Manipulability Measure) has been defined and applied for the decision of the optimal path. The DAMM is defined as the intersection of the manipulability ellipsoids of the dual-arms, while the manipulability measure indicates a relationship between the joint velocity and the Cartesian velocity for each arm. The cost function for achieving the optimal path is defined as the summation of the distance to the goal and inverse of this DAMM, which aims to generate the efficient motion to the goal. It is confirmed that the optimal path planning keeps higher manipulability through the short distance path by using computer simulation. To show the effectiveness of this cooperative control algorithm experimentally, a 5-DOF dual-arm robot with distributed controllers for synchronization control has been developed and used for the experiments.

This study explores the social sides of games by investigating the relationship between cooperative games and psychological factors determining social relationships (i.e., self-disclosure, intimacy) and how such psycosocial factors influence offline social participations. Utilizing both online and offline surveys, the results indicated that the amount of time spending on cooperative games have a positive impact on self-disclosure and intimacy. The results also showed that users' self-disclosure and intimacy influence offline social participation.

Nowadays a lot of schools carry out open education and the school libraries have to seek the ways how they can participate efficiently in the instructional design process in the system of open education. For these purposes, a spatial relationship of school library and the process of cooperative program planning and teaching is investigated with a case study. Cooperative program planning and teaching is a school library service program which has to be developed as an instructional program related to classroom teaching. However the tendency is that teacher-librarians are not active to do it in the open education system.

This paper looks at "network" aspects of research and development (R'||'&'||'D) with a special focus on small and medium (S'||'&'||'M) automotive part makers in Korea. It throws light on recent changes in the technological capability building mechanism of Korean automotive firms. The Korean automotive firms have mostly built up technological capability from scratch. It is widely acknowledged that they have benefited from two cooperative relations: namely (1) the close cooperative relationship with their own assemblers and (2) technical assistance from auto parts makers abroad. Too much emphasis on these two links can, however, keep us from understanding new developments. This paper argues that auto parts firms have diversified their networks for technological development. It is based on the analysis of the data drawn from the survey on technological development activities of small and medium sized firms, which was carried out by the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business. Many automotive firms have recently increased joint R'||'&'||'D links with university and/or research institution while their reliance on foreign sources have decreased.

A Leader is a Coordinator that supports a set of processes to cooperate a given task. This concept is used in several domains such as distributed systems, parallelism and cooperative support for cooperative work. In completely asynchronous systems, there is no solution for the election problem satisfying both of safety and liveness properties in asynchronous distributed systems. Therefore, to solve the election problem in those systems, one property should be weaker than the other property. If an election algorithm strengthens the safety property in sacrifice of liveness property, it would not nearly progress. But on the contrary, an election algorithm strengthening the liveness property in sacrifice of the safety property would have the high probability of violating the safety property. In this paper, we presents a safety strengthened Leader Election protocol with an unreliable failure detector and analyses it in terms of safety and liveness properties in asynchronous distributed systems.

In Korea, the distribution channel for agricultural products is notorious for its complexity and ineffectiveness. In this sense, the Agricultural Cooperative has tried to clarify the distribution channel and reduce its length. However, there still exist much room for improvements. The Internet shopping mall specific for agricultural product, therefore, is drawing much attention because it can reduce the length of distribution channel drastically and improve effectiveness from the distribution perspective. To test the validity of such Internet-driven shopping mall, we gathered questionnaire data from the Internet based Hannaro Shopping Mall which is run directly by the Agricultural Cooperative. We performed experiments respectively for the two groups of operating personnel and consumers. Experimental results showed that several important factors can be identified which are significant statistically and deemed to have meaningful relationship with performance variables. Our results also showed that the Internet shopping mall has a great potential for improving the effectiveness of the distribution channel of the agricultural products.

Hansalim is a cooperative organization dealing with environmental-friendly/organic products(EFOP), which is pursuing both movement and business. Hansalim consists of producer's organizations and consumer's organizations, and always talks over organization structures and management directions all together. Hansalim has the movement goal of values and a world view for all lives, and so produces, distributes and consumes the EFOP as a way of achieving the goal. Hansalim was founded in 1986, and has about 130,000 members, the total sales of about 93.6 billions, 19 regional hansalims and one logistics center in 2006. Product strategy and promotion strategy are remarkable among green marketing mix of hansalim. Product strategy focuses safety, the environmental intimacy, differentiation and superiority of products. And the characteristics of promotion strategy are spontaneity, the self-control, cooperative spirit, mutual trust and close relationship among producers, consumers and staffs in charge.

This study investigated quantitative changes in the spaces between and within myofibrils and the impact of high and low voltage electrical stimulation on muscle ultrastructure as seen in electron micrographs. In addition, the relationships of these spaces and the impact to meat tenderness were investigated. The degradation of myofibrils during aging appeared to be localized across the muscle fibre. Structural deterioration of muscle fibres was evident 1 day post-mortem, involving the weakening in the lateral integrity of the myofibrils and Z-disc regions. Meat tenderisation, as shown by objective measurements, coincided with these increases in degradation, as assessed by the sum of the gaps between and within myofibrils. The results showed that the total size of gaps between and within myofibrils can be used as an indicator of meat tenderization during aging, but that ultrastructural alteration in electrically stimulated muscle had little relationship with meat tenderness.
