간단한 클램프회로를 이용한 고효율 결합인덕터 부스트 직류-직류 변환기 (High Efficiency Coupled Inductor Boost DC-DC Converter using a Simple Clamp Circuit)

  • This paper presents a high efficiency coupled inductor boost DC-DC converter that uses a simple clamp circuit and the coupled inductor and thus overcomes output voltage limit of the conventional boost converter. The proposed converter solves problems of voltage stress of the power semiconductor switch and reverse recovery of the output diode using a simple clamp circuit composed of a diode and a capacitor, and thus the converter improves its total efficiency. In this paper, the operational principle of the proposed converter is explained by each mode and then a design example for the prototype converter based on the explanation is shown. And good performance of the proposed converter is verified through experimental results of the prototype converter that is implemented with the designed circuit parameters.

High Quality DC-DC Boosting Converter Based on Cuk Converter and Advantages of Using It in Multilevel Structures

  • In this paper, a DC-DC converter is proposed based on the Cuk converter. The proposed converter has high efficiency and it can be used in multilevel DC-DC converters. A reduction of the inductors size in comparison to Cuk converter and a reduction in the inductors resistance negative effects on efficiency are the important points of the proposed converter. Its voltage ripple is reduced when compared to other converters. Its output voltage has a high quality and does not contain spikes. A theoretical analysis demonstrates the positive points of the proposed converter. The design and analysis of the converter are done in continues conduction mode (CCM). Experiments confirm the obtained theoretical equations. The proposed converter voltage gain is similar to that of a conventional Boost converter. As a result, they are compared. The comparison illustrates the advantages of the proposed converter and its higher quality. Furthermore, a prototype of the proposed converter and its combination with a 2x multiplier are built in the lab. Experimental results validate the analysis. In addition, they are in good agreements with each other.

  • Multi-loop control of a boost converter needs a current-sensing circuit to detect the inductor current. Current sensorless multi-loop control reduces the cost, size and weight of the converter. The Luenberger observer (LO) is widely used to estimate the inductor current for current sensorless control of a switching converter. However, the design of the LO-based sensorless multi-loop control has not been well presented, so far. In this paper, a closed-loop characteristics evaluation method is proposed to design an LO-based current sensorless multi-loop control for boost converters. Simulations show evaluations of the closed-loop characteristics. Practical experiments on a digital processor confirm the simulations.

  • Active clamp forward converter provides zero voltage switching, low voltage stress and wide input voltage range. The design technique leads to getting a higher efficiency under high switching frequency and optimal operating range. It is designed for notebook computer adapter with free input voltage and 19.5V/120W output ratings. The efficiency is measured to more than 90%. One of the most important circuit parts is the filter inductor besides the transformer in active clamp forward converter. In this paper, the process of inductor design is listed optimally.

  • One of the most difficult problem of designing VLSI is a mixed-circuit design, that is to design circuit containing both analog parts and digital parts. Digital to analog converter and analog to digital converter is a typical case. Especially it can be a serious problem when mixed circuit are put into a large digital circuit like microcontroller. However nowadays this problem is settled by separating analog circuit parts outside the IC. This technique is based on converting a digital signal into a pulse sequence. Then an analog signal is obtained by averaging this pulse sequence at the external low-pass filter. An anlog to digital converter is designed using a stochastic logic instead of a traditional PWM (pulse-width modulation) signal and ins implemente dusing FPGa. Stochastic pulse sequence can be made as a simple circuits and moreover can be mathematically processed by simple circuits -AND gates. The spectral property of stochastic pulse sequence method is better than that of PWM method. So it make easy to design a external low-pass filter. This technique has important advantages, especially the reduction of the ADC cost.

  • 본 논문에서는 스위칭시 ZVS 기능을 갖는 풀 브리지 위상전이 컨버터의 디지털 컨트롤러의 설계에 대해 연구하였다. 디지털 컨트롤러는 인버터나 전동기 구동 시스템에서 넓게 사용되었다. 그러나 디지털 컨트롤러는 고주파 스위칭 파워 서플라이 (특히 풀브리지 DC/DC 컨버터)에는 적용되지 못했었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 ZVS 기능을 가진 풀 브리지 위상전이 컨버터의 디지털 컨트롤을 위한 방법을 제안하고, 기존의 아날로그 컨트롤러와 비교하였다. 수치 연산 패키지인 MATLAB을 이용한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 제어기 설계를 최적화하였다.

  • This paper describes the design, construction and implementation of matrix converter based on space vector modulation technique. The matrix converter provides sinusoidal input and output wave forms, bidirectional power flow, controllable input power factor and a compact design, compared to the VSI with diode rectification stage at the input. The implemented prototype of matrix converter is built using the exclusive IGBT module and has an input filter, overvoltage protection circuit and commutation means for overcoming practical issues. The good results tested using an induction motor are also presented.

  • In this paper, an optimal selection methodology for the number of phases will be proposed for an interleaved boost converter (IBC). Also, the analysis of the input current ripple according to CCM and DCM is carried out. The proposed design methodology will be theoretically analyzed, and its validity verified by simulation as well as with experimental results. Moreover, a comparison of cost and efficiency based on a 600W laboratory prototype using the Ballard NEXA 1.2kW PEMFC system is demonstrated.

  • This paper presents the operational characteristics of a high voltage flyback converter with resonant elements. In high voltage low power applications, the effect of a transformer’s stray capacitance might be the most important factor that influences the overall performance of the circuit. A detailed mode analysis and the design procedure are presented in designing the high voltage flyback converter. To verify and confirm the validities of the presented analysis and design procedure, a computer simulation and experiments have been performed.

Design and Analysis of an Interleaved Boundary Conduction Mode (BCM) Buck PFC Converter

  • This paper presents the design considerations and analysis for an interleaved boundary conduction mode power factor correction buck converter. A thorough analysis of the harmonic content of the AC line current is presented to examine the allowable voltage gain (K value) for meeting the EN61000-3-2, Class D standard while maximizing efficiency. The results of the harmonic analysis are used to derive the required value of K and therefore the output voltage necessary to meet the class D requirements for a given AC line voltage. The discussed design consideration and harmonic current analysis are verified on a 300W universal line experimental prototype converter with an 80V output. The measured efficiencies remain above 96% down to 20% of the full load. The input current harmonics also meet the IEC61000-3-2 (class D) standard.
