웨이브렛 변환 기반 뉴로-펴지를 이용한 변압기 보호계전 알고리즘 (Protective Relaying Algorithm for Transformer Using Neuro-Fuzzy based on Wavelet Transform)

  • This paper proposes a new protective relaying algorithm using Neuro-Fuzzy and wavelet transform. To organize advanced nuero-fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various transformer transient states. These data are made of changing-rates of Dl coefficient and RSM value within half cycle after fault occurrence. Subsequently, advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm is obtained by converging the target data. As a result of applying the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm, discrimination between internal fault and inrush is correctly distinguished within 1/2 after fault occurrence. Accordingly, it is evaluated that the proposed algorithm can effectively protect a transformer by correcting discrimination between winding fault and inrushing state.

  • This paper proposes a new protective relaying algorithm using ACI(Advanced Computational Intelligence) and wavelet transform. To organize the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various transformer transient states. These data are made of changing-rates of D1 coefficient and RSM value within half cycle after fault occurrence. Subsequently, the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm is obtained by converging the target data. 확장형칼만필터에 의한 연속회분식반응조의 탈질 적응제어 (Adaptive Control of Denitrification by the Extended Kalman Filter in a Sequencing Batch Reactor)

  • The reaction rate of denitrification is primarily affected by the utilization of organics that are usually limited in the anoxic period in a sequencing batch reactor. It is necessary to add an extemal carbon source for sufficient denitrification. An adaptive model of state-space based on the extended Kalman filter is applied to manipulate the dosage rate of extemal carbon automatically. Control strategies for denitrification have been studied to improve control performance through simulations. The normal control strategy of the constant set-point results in the overdosage of external carbon and deterioration of water quality. To prevent the overdosage of external carbon, improved control strategies such as the constrained control action, variable set-point, and variable set-point after dissolved oxygen depletion are required. More stable control is obtained through the application of the variable set-point after dissolved oxygen depletion. The converging value of the estimated denitrification coefficient reflects conditions in the reactor.

  • This paper presents an experimental investigation of friction and wear characteristic with respect to patterns occurring on the surface of 3D printed polymer products by fused deposition modeling method. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the patterns and sliding directions on the tribological properties of 3D printed polymer surface. A cubic specimen was printed using polylactic acid filament as the printing material. Friction tests were conducted for different directions with respect to the patterns that were generated on the top and the side surfaces of the specimen, by using a ball-on-reciprocating type tribotester. SUJ2 bearing ball of which the diameter was 11 times greater than the width of the largest pattern was used as the counter surface to assess the frictional behavior. Friction tests were conducted on the top and the side surfaces with respect to the patterns in 3 (0°, 45°, 90°) different directions respectively. Coefficient of friction increased as cycles increased in all cases. The results of the tests showed that the lowest coefficient of friction was measured with the 45° sliding direction on the side surface. The wear rate was the lowest at 45° sliding direction on the side surface, while it was the highest at 0° sliding direction on the top surface. Coefficient of friction of about 0.45 was determined to be the converging value on the top compared to the side surface.

로켓 노즐의 열전달계수 비교 연구 (Comparative Studies of Heat Transfer Coefficients for Rocket Nozzle)

  • 열전달 연구의 목적은 온도와 열유속 분포를 보다 정확하게 예측하는 것이다. 이를 위해 상용 CFD 코드인 FLUENT를 사용하여 2종류의 노즐에 대해 질량유속비와 압력비를 계산하였으며, 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다. 또한 1종류의 노즐에 대해 FLUENT를 사용한 노즐 벽면에서의 열전달계수 계산결과는 노즐 축소부에서 실험결과 보다 약간 크게 예측되었으나 확대부에서는 잘 일치하고 있다. Bartz식을 이용한 열전달계수 계산결과는 전체적으로 실험결과 보다 크게 예측되었다. 계산결과가 실험결과와 차이를 보이는 원인은 노즐 내 급가속 유동에 의한 층류화, 난류모델 및 격자구성 등을 고려해 볼 수 있다.

Effect of Mesh Size on the Viscous Flow Parameters of an Axisymmetric Nozzle

  • The viscous flow in an axisymmetric nozzle was analyzed while accounting for the mesh sizes in both in the free stream and the boundary layer. The Navier-Stokes equations were resolved using the finite volume method in order to determine the supersonic flow parameters at the exit of the converging-diverging nozzle. The numerical technique in the aforementioned method uses the flux vector splitting of Van Leer. An adequate time stepping parameter, along with the Courant, Friedrich, Lewis coefficient and mesh size level, was selected to ensure numerical convergence. The boundary layer thickness significantly affected the viscous flow parameters at the exit of the nozzle. The best solution was obtained using a very fine grid, especially near the wall at which a strong variation of velocity, temperature and shear stress was observed. This study confirmed that the boundary layer thickness can be obtained only if the size of the mesh is lower than a certain value. The nozzles are used at the exit of the shock tube in order to obtain supersonic flows for various tests. They also used in propulsion to obtain the thrust necessary to the displacement of the vehicles.

FINITE-DIFFERENCE BISECTION ALGORITHMS FOR FREE BOUNDARIES OF AMERICAN OPTIONS

  • This paper presents two algorithms based on the Jamshidian equation which is from the Black-Scholes partial differential equation. The first algorithm is for American call options and the second one is for American put options. They compute numerically free boundary and then option price, iteratively, because the free boundary and the option price are coupled implicitly. By the upwind finite-difference scheme, we discretize the Jamshidian equation with respect to asset variable s and set up a linear system whose solution is an approximation to the option value. Using the property that the coefficient matrix of this linear system is an M-matrix, we prove several theorems in order to formulate a bisection method, which generates a sequence of intervals converging to the fixed interval containing the free boundary value with error bound h. These algorithms have the accuracy of O(k + h), where k and h are step sizes of variables t and s, respectively. We prove that they are unconditionally stable. We applied our algorithms for a series of numerical experiments and compared them with other algorithms. Our algorithms are efficient and applicable to options with such constraints as r > d, $r{\leq}d$, long-time or short-time maturity T.

  • A new coupling method of Element-Free Galerkin Method(EFGM) and Boundary Element Method(BEM) using the domain decomposition method is presented in this paper. This proposed methodology is that the problem domain is decomposed into sub-domains being modeled by the EFGM and BEM respectively and the respective EFGM and BEM domains share a partially overlapped region over an entire domain. Then, the each sub-domain is separately computed and the variables on common region are iteratively updated until converging. It is an important note that in the developed coupling method, there is no need to combine the coefficient matrices of EFGM and BEM sub-domains, in contrast with the other conventional coupling methods. In the first part of this paper, a theory of EFGM and BEM is summarized, and then a brief introduction of domain decomposition method is described. Then, a new coupling method is presented. Also, patch test and Some numerical examples are studied to verify stability, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method, in which numerical performance of the method is compared with that of conventional method such as EFGM-BEM variational coupling method, EFGM and BEM.

Valve actuation effects on discrete monopropellant slug delivery in a micro-scale fuel injection system

  • Converging flows of a gas and a liquid at a microchannel cross junction, under proper conditions, can result in the formation of periodic, dispersed microslugs. This microslug formation phenomenon has been proposed as the basis for a fuel injection system in a novel, 'discrete' monopropellant microthruster designed for use in next-generation miniaturized satellites. Previous experimental studies demonstrated the ability to generate fuel slugs with characteristics commensurate with the intended application during steady-state operation. In this work, numerical and experimental techniques are used to study the effect of valve actuation on slug characteristics, and the results are used to compare with equivalent steady-state slugs. Computational simulations of a valve with a 1 ms valve-actuation cycle show that as the ratio of the response time of the valve to the fully open time is increased, transient effects can increase slug length by up to 17%. The simulations also demonstrate that the effect of the valve is largely independent of surface tension coefficient, which is the thermophysical parameter most responsible for slug formation characteristics. Flow visualization experiments performed using a miniature valve with a 20 ms response time showed less than a 1% change in the length of slugs formed during the actuation cycle. The results of this study indicate that impulse bit and thrust calculations can discount transient effects for slower valves, but as valve technology improves transient effects may become more significant.

혁신채택 및 확산이론의 통신방송융합(위성DMB) 서비스 수요추정 응용 (Applications of Innovation Adoption and Diffusion Theory to Demand Estimation for Communications and Media Converging (DMB) Services)

  • This study examines market acceptance for DMB service, one of the touted new business models in Korea's next-generation mobile communications service market, using adoption end diffusion of innovation as the theoretical framework. Market acceptance for DMB service was assessed by predicting the demand for the service using the Bass model, and the demand variability over time was then analyzed by integrating the innovation adoption model proposed by Rogers (2003). In our estimation of the Bass model, we derived the coefficient of innovation and coefficient of imitation, using actual diffusion data from the mobile telephone service market. The maximum number of subscribers was estimated based on the result of a survey on satellite DMB service. Furthermore, to test the difference in diffusion pattern between mobile phone service and satellite DMB service, we reorganized the demand data along the diffusion timeline according to Rogers' innovation adoption model, using the responses by survey subjects concerning their respective projected time of adoption. The comparison of the two demand prediction models revealed that diffusion for both took place forming a classical S-curve. Concerning variability in demand for DMB service, our findings, much in agreement with Rogers' view, indicated that demand was highly variable over time and depending on the adopter group. In distinguishing adopters into different groups by time of adoption of innovation, we found that income and lifestyle (opinion leadership, novelty seeking tendency and independent decision-making) were variables with measurable impact. Among the managerial variables, price of reception device, contents type, subscription fees were the variables resulting in statistically significant differences. This study, as an attempt to measure the market acceptance for satellite DMB service, a leading next-generation mobile communications service product, stands out from related studies in that it estimates the nature and level of acceptance for specific customer categories, using theories of innovation adoption and diffusion and based on the result of a survey conducted through one-to-one interviews. The authors of this paper believe that the theoretical framework elaborated in this study and its findings can be fruitfully reused in future attempts to predict demand for new mobile communications service products.
