This study was carried out for developing artificial short-term aging(SA) and long-term aging(LA) methods of asphalt mixtures in which the aging level is properly matched with those of RTFO and PAV aged binders, respectively. The specimens were made of the short-term aged loose asphalt mixture which was kept in a convection oven at $154^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and were aged at $110^{\circ}C$ for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours for SA. Large molecular size(LMS) were measured using GPC after SA and LA to evaluate aging extents of each mixture with aging time. It is shown that the LMS was increased with aging time increment and that from the LMS(%) change ratio, it was possible to suggest an appropriate artificial aging time which is corresponding level of aging with RTFO and PAV. It was found that SA was somewhat strong and LA for 48 hours at $110^{\circ}C$ would be appropriate if sort-term aging is properly controlled.
The black pine logs damaged by pine wilt disease in Jeju-do were heat-treated to extend the utilization of domestic trees damaged by pine wilt disease. The heat-treatment of wood requires wood to be heated to $56^{\circ}C$ for 30 min at the core. The average moisture content and top-diameter of the black pine logs were ranged from 46% to 141% and from 180 mm to 500 mm, respectively. And the basic specific gravity and oven-dry specific gravity of the black pine logs were 0.47 and 0.52, respectively. The time required for heat-treatment at $105^{\circ}C$ temperature was ranged from 7.7 h to 44.2 h, depending on moisture content and top-diameter. The temperature distribution was used to predict the time required for heat-treatment of black pine log with various moisture contents and top-diameters using finite difference method. The thermal properties of wood including the thermal conductivity and specific heat in accordance with moisture content were calculated. Heat transfer coefficient for mixed convection in form of adding natural convection and forced convection was used for heat transfer analysis. The error between the measured and predicted values ranged from 3% to 45%. The predicted times required for heat-treatment of black pine log with 50% moisture content and 200 mm, 300 mm, and 400 mm top-diameter were 10.9 h, 18.3 h, and 27.0 h, respectively. If the initial moisture content of black pine log is 75%, heat treatment times of 13.6 h, 22.5 h, and 32.8 h were predicted in accordance with top-diameter. And if the initial moisture content of black pine log is 100%, heat treatment times of 16.2 h, 26.5 h, and 38.2 h were predicted in accordance with top-diameter. When the physical properties of logs damaged by pine wilt disease are presented, these results can be applicable to the heat-treatment of red pine and Korean pine logs as well.

PURPOSES : This study aims to show the difference of the binder aging level in the hot-mix asphalt (HMA) mixture after short-term aging (SA) under different aging conditions, such as mixture temperature and duration in hour. METHODS : Three SA times (i.e., 1 h, 2 h, and 4 h) at two temperatures (i.e., $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$) were used for the normal mixtures prepared using a PG64-22 asphalt. The field long-term aging (LA) was simulated by applying the same LA procedure (65 h at $110^{\circ}C$) to all compacted specimens, prepared at the air void of 7% using each SA-treated mixture, in a convection oven. The binder aging level was measured in terms of large molecular size by gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) from the mixture and the absolute viscosity (AV) from the recovered binder. The aging levels were evaluated using those two properties after SA and LA, and then compared based on the normal SA (NSA) mixture (1 h at $160^{\circ}C$). The service life reduction caused by SA in various conditions was estimated based on the aging level of the field cores from different locations in various service lives. RESULTS : The results of the laboratory evaluation indicated that the binder of the mixture, which was treated at longer SA time and higher temperature, showed a significantly higher aging level than the NSA mixture. The binder aging level from a longer time, such as 2 h and 4 h SA, or at a higher temperature ($180^{\circ}C$), were estimated to be similar to that of the mixtures, which had already been in field service for several years. CONCLUSIONS : The HMA mixture should be produced at a moderate temperature, such as $160^{\circ}C$, and placed within a limited hauling and queuing time to avoid a significant short-term aging of the binder before placement in the field pavement. The SA for a longer time at a higher temperature than the NSA condition was found to be detrimental to the service life of the asphalt pavement.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine prerequisite-program performance of the hospital foodservice operation and develop measures for improvement of prerequisite-program performance. Methods: Data were collected through surveys administered to 168 hospital dieticians in the Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do, Daegu, and North Gyeongsang areas. Out of total questionnaires, 65 questionnaires were usable and the response rate was 38.7%. Statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS program (ver 20.0) for ${\chi}^2-test$ and one-way ANOVA. Results: According to the result of the prerequisite-program evaluation, the percentage of 'appropriate', 'needs to be improved', and 'inappropriate' was 44.6%, 47.7%, and 7.7%, respectively. The score for the 'inappropriate' group was significantly lower than that of the 'appropriate' group or 'needs to be improved' group on the food safety management (p < 0.001), preparation facility management (p < 0.001), water management (p < 0.001), and storage transportation management (p < 0.05) parts. Holding rate of foodservice facility and equipments in the 'appropriate' group were significantly higher than in the others on convection oven (p < 0.01), air conditioner (p < 0.01), three-compartment sink (p < 0.01), hot-holding equipment (p < 0.01), cold-holding equipment (p < 0.05), exclusive thawing refrigerator (p < 0.05), and sterilizer for sanitary shoes (p < 0.05) items. Conclusion: To improve the quality of hospital foodservice, foodservice managers and HACCP specialists should develop and implement a prerequisite-program and a HACCP plan considering the characteristics of the hospital foodservice operation.
Highly-siliceous dealuminated zeolite, silicalite(end member of ZSM-5) was synthesized from a batch composition of 2.55 $Na_2O-5.0$ TPABr-$100SiO_2-2800H_2O $ at $180^{\circ}C$ and at times ranging from one to seven days of reaction time. Autoclaves containing the synthesis mixture were centrifuged within the specially-equipped convection oven to provide an elevated gravitational force field like 30 and 50 G. Tests were also conducted at normal gravity. For synthesis performed under elevated gravities, average and maximum crystal sizes were substantially greater than those synthesized under normal gravity and product yields were also found to be affected by elevated gravity ; that is, product yields were substantially enhanced under elevated gravity from 4 % to 55 % with respect to normal gravity. The average crystal sizes of silicalite synthesized at normal gravity were 50 to $70{\mu}m$ over an entire range of reaction time, one to seven days while the average crystal sizes synthsized under elevated gravities, 30 and 50 G, were 160 to $190{\mu}m$ respectively. For the elevated gravity, in particular, two separate nucleations and growths were observed. For examples, at 50G, large crystals of $200{\mu}m$ were produced through the second growing stage after 5 days of reaction following the rapid first growing stage where fairly large crystals of $135{\mu}m$ were produced only in 2 days of reaction. The maximum crystal sizes obtained through the above two growing stages were 190 and $300{\mu}m$, respectively. A discussion of how elevated gravity affects nucleation, growth, yield and crystal size of silicalite is presented.
Production of iodine-131 by neutron activation of tellurium in tellurium dioxide ($TeO_2$) material requires a target that meets the safety requirements. In a radiopharmaceutical production unit, a new lid for a can was designed, which permits tight sealing of the target by using tungsten inert gaswelding. The leakage rate of all prepared targets was assessed using a helium mass spectrometer. The accepted leakage rate is ${\leq}10^{-4}mbr.L/s$, according to the approved safety report related to iodine-131 production in the TRIGA Mark II research reactor (TRIGA: Training, Research, Isotopes, General Atomics). To confirm the resistance of the new design to the irradiation conditions in the TRIGA Mark II research reactor's central thimble, a study of heat effect on the sealed targets for 7 hours in an oven was conducted and the leakage rates were evaluated. The results show that the tightness of the targets is ensured up to $600^{\circ}C$ with the appearance of deformations on lids beyond $450^{\circ}C$. The study of heat transfer through the target was conducted by adopting a one-dimensional approximation, under consideration of the three transfer modes-convection, conduction, and radiation. The quantities of heat generated by gamma and neutron heating were calculated by a validated computational model for the neutronic simulation of the TRIGA Mark II research reactor using the Monte Carlo N-Particle transport code. Using the heat transfer equations according to the three modes of heat transfer, the thermal study of I-131 production by irradiation of the target in the central thimble showed that the temperatures of materials do not exceed the corresponding melting points. To validate this new design, several targets have been irradiated in the central thimble according to a preplanned irradiation program, going from4 hours of irradiation at a power level of 0.5MWup to 35 hours (7 h/d for 5 days a week) at 1.5MW. The results showthat the irradiated targets are tight because no iodine-131 was released in the atmosphere of the reactor building and in the reactor cooling water of the primary circuit.

To establish a rapid and effective method for the analysis of soy isoflavone which is known to have lots of variation in derivatives of glucoside, conversion rate from isoflavone conjugates to its aglycones, and decomposition of conversed aglycones were investigated with various acid hydrolysis conditions. A number of heating conditions for acid hydrolysis including heating at convection oven $(105^{\circ}C)$, water bath $(95^{\circ}C)$, heating block $(120^{\circ}C)$, and hot plate $(120^{\circ}C)$ were applied. Acid hydrolysis in heating block with reflux was chosen as the best heating condition. From the stability test of isoflavone aglycone during acid hydrolysis, genistein, daidzein, and glycitein did not show any significant changes in their contents for 60 min of hydrolysis. Ten to thirty milligram of sample per 1 mL HCl was the best ratio of sample to acid. As conclusion, acid hydrolysis for 60 min after addition of 15 mL HCl solution to 0.5 g soybean, and then fill up to 50 mL with methanol, followed by HPLC analysis was set as a final analysis method. From this method, isoflavone contents expressed as total aglycone of feed meal was the highest with content of $1288.5{\mu}g/g$ followed by those of dehulled meal.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of freezing and thawing rate on the physical properties of soybean sprouts to improve the quality of processed soybean sprouts during distribution and storage. Cooked soybean sprouts were frozen by air-blast freezing (ABF) system at $-45^{\circ}C$ or natural air convection freezing (NCF) system at $-24^{\circ}C$, then thawed using microwave oven by varying output power (0, 400, 800 and 1,000 W) until $75^{\circ}C$. The quality of soybean sprouts was measured by the water content, hardness and springiness. In addition, the internal microstructure of soybean sprouts was observed by optical microscope. For results, water content of soybean sprouts thawed by 1,000 W in a microwave showed the lowest value after natural air convection freezing. Springiness of soybean sprouts thawed by all amounts of output power was decreased in comparison with control. Hardness was increased only in soybean sprouts thawed by 1,000 W after air-blast freezing. However the gaps between springiness and hardness were relatively small with control at 1,000 W thawing, after air-blast freezing. Internal microstructure of the soybean sprouts was more damaged as freezing and thawing time were increased. In conclusion, high freezing and thawing rate might improves the quality of soy bean sprout, and IQF freezing and 1,000 W of microwave thawing appears to be the optimum condition for frozen HMR production. From the results freezing and thawing process parameters might can be use as quality control parameters as various type of sprout products processing.

The best way to treat livestock manure is a recycling the manure to arable land as an organic fertilizer. In this study, fermented cow manure compost and pig manure compost were used as a raw materials for pelletizing. The changes of physicochemical properties of each composts and pellets were investigated. The aim of this research was to improve availability of livestock manure compost. In pelletizing process of fermented livestock manure compost, the optimal water content to make pellet was around 40%. When clay was mixed by volume more than 15% as a bonding agent, the condition of pelletizing process was beginning to improve. On a dry matter basis, the contents of N, P and K of fermented pig manure compost were 2.05%, 1.89% and 1.31%, respectively. After pelletizing, the contents of compost pelleted with the pig manure compost were 1.96% 1.73% and 0.89%, respectively. The same parameters of cow manure compost were 2.52%, 1.01% and 2.98%, respectively. After processing, the contents of compost pelleted with the cow manure compost were 2.45%, 1.10% and 2.93%, respectively. After pelletizing, there were little change in the content of heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, As and Hg. When pelleted compost dried naturally was submerged in water, it was completely dissolved in 30 minutes. On the other hand, Pelleted compost dried with the mechanical convection oven set $70^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours was completely dissolved in 960 minutes. The volume and weight of pelleted compost were decreased with time. After 30 days of storing, the weight of pelleted compost was decreased by 15% compared with its original weight. The volume of it was decreased by 17~25% in the same time.
