  • Vibration causes noise and makes structure unstable. Especially, due to the effort of lightening, deformation of flexible structure is increased in its shape. Just a little disturbance causes vibration and low damping ratio causes residual vibration lasts long time. In this paper, by using a neuro-controller, which is one of the algorithm of adaptive control. we performed adaptive control of flexible cantilever plate and opened box structure with piezoelectric materials. The proposed adaptive vibration control algorithm, a neuro-controller, is proved in its effectiveness by applying to a opened box structure. The neuro-controller was implemented with DSP, and the real-time adaptive vibration control experiment results confirm that neuro-controller is reliable.

  • Vibration causes noise and sometimes makes structure unstable. Especially, due to the efforts of lightening, deformation of flexible structure is increased in its shape. Just a little disturbance can cause vibration and low damping ratio makes residual vibration last long time. This research is concerned with the model reference neuro-controller design for the vibration suppression of smart structures. By using a model reference neurocontroller, which is one of the algorithms of adaptive control, we performed an adaptive control of flexible cantilever plate and opened box structure with piezoelectric materials. The proposed adaptive vibration control algorithm, a model reference neuro-controller, was proved in its effectiveness by applying to an opened box structure. The model reference neuro-controller is implemented with DSP, and the real-time adaptive vibration control experiment results confirm that the model reference neuro-controller is reliable.

  • The satellite is exposed to various launch environments such as random vibrations and shock. Accordingly, structural design of electronic equipment mounted on satellite must meet reliability requirements at the box level. In addition, it is essential to secure the reliability of the solder joint applied to electronic equipment. In this paper, we performed a modal and quasi-static analysis for the purpose of satisfaction of the design requirements of the CCB (Camera Controller Box) present on the 500 kg-class compact advanced satellite (CAS500). In addition, structural safety of electronic components was verified by the Steinberg's method and random equivalent static analysis.

  • A control strategy for flexible structure under irregular disturbance by using of$\boxDr$random gain$\boxUl$is developed and implemented. System equation is transformed to stochastic domain by F-P-K approach from physical domain. A controller is designed in the stochastic domain, accordingly system is controlled by$\boxDr$random gain$\boxUl$in time domain. In the paper, a new control technique is successfully employed for flexible system under white noise, and the result is verified by Monte-Carlo simulation and compared with the performance via LQR controller.

  • System identification is the field of modeling dynamic systems from experimental data. As a modeling technique, we can mention finite element method (FEM). In addition, we are able to measure modal data as the experimental data. The system can be generally categorized into a gray box and black box. In the gray box, we know mathematical model of a system, but we don't know structural parameters exactly, so we need to estimate structural parameters. In the black box, we don't know a system completely, so we need to identify system from nothing. To date, various system identification methods have been developed. Among them, we introduce system realization theory which uses Hankel matrix and Eigensystem Realization Algorithm (ERA) that enable us to identify modal parameters from noisy measurement data. Although we obtain noise-free data, however, we are likely to face difficulties in identifying a structure with hidden modes. Hidden modes can be occurred when the input or output position comes to a nodal point. If we change a system using a mode decoupling controller, the hidden modes can be revealed. Because we know the perturbation quantities in a closed loop system with the controller, we can realize an original system by subtracting perturbation quantities from the closed loop system. In this paper, we propose a novel method to identify a structure with hidden modes using the mode decoupling controller and the associated example is given for illustration.

  • In this paper, we are dealing with the problem of controlling unknown nonlinear dynamical system by using neural networks. A novel error self-recurrent(ESR) neural model is presented to perform black-box identification. Through the various outcome of the experiment, a new neural network is seen to be considerably faster than the BP algorithm and has advantages of being less affected by poor initial weights and learning rate. These characteristics make it flexible to design the controller in real-time based on neural networks model. In addition, we design an adaptive PID controller that Keyser suggested by using ESR neural networks, and present a method on the implementation of adaptive controller based on neural network for practical applications. We obtained good results in the case of robot manipulator experiment.

  • Multi-Layer Perceptron network has been mainly applied to many practical problems because of its nonlinear mapping ability. However the generalization ability of MLP networks may be affected by the number of hidden nodes, the initial values of weights and the training errors. These factors, if improperly chosen, may result in poor generalization ability of MLP networks. It is important to identify these factors and their interaction in order to control effectively the generalization ability of MLP networks. In this paper, we have empirically identified the factors that affect the generalization ability of MLP networks, and compared their relative effects on the generalization performance for the conventional and visualized weight selecting methods using the controller box.

  • As the population of camping is increased in campsites and auto camp sites, the electrical equipment can safely supply electricity to users in a variety of electricity bill policy is required in the campsite. In this paper, we develop the vending machine for electricity that can control the outdoor electrical outlet from the management server using the Z-Wave WPAN and android mobile application. The developed vending machine for electricity consists of the management server, the controller, the outdoor outlet box, and the mobile application. The management server provides reservation and electricity bill payment to users. The management server controls the electrical outlet box through the controller to safely supply electricity to users. The controller that is a relay device between the management server and the switch controls switches based on Z-Wave mesh network. Outdoor electrical outlet box has 2 meter switches. We receive the relevant authorization to provide commercial electricity services using the outdoor electrical outlet box in the campsite.

  • We have developed a $kW_e$ class liquid fuel based solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system. Our final target is to develop the 1 $kW_e$ diesel based SOFC system for residential power generator(RPG). In this study, we present the conceptual design of SOFC system. System is composed of hot-box and cold-box. Planar typed SOFC stack, heat exchanger, combustor for stack tail gas, and fuel processor, such as fuel reformer and desulfurizer, are contained in the hot-box. And several balance of plants(BOP), such as fuel suppliers and controller, are contained in the cold-box. Before the SOFC system fabrication, we have already operated the selfsustaining fuel processor, and heat exchange of all heat-related components is simulated using ASPEN HYSYS, because heat maintenance and management in hot-box are important for stable operation of SOFC system. The self-sustained fuel processor was successfully operated for about 250 hours, and heat exchange is enough to operate the SOFC system.
