  • The control objectives in this paper are to move the gantry of a container crane to its target position and to suppress the transverse vibration of the payload. The crane system is modeled as an axially moving nonlinear string equation, in which control inputs are applied at both ends, through the gantry and the payload. The dynamics of the moving string are derived using Hamilton's principle. The Lyapunov function method is used in deriving a boundary control law, in which the Lyapunov function candidate is introduced from the total mechanical energy of the system. The performance of the proposed control law is compared with other two control algorithms available in the literature. Experimental results are given.

  • Until now various model matching systems have been proposed for linear system, but very little has been done for nonlinear system In this paper, a design method of discrete time flight control system using nonlinear model matching is proposed. This method is based on Hirschorn's algorithm and facilitates easy determination of the control law using the relationship, between the output and the input, which is obtained by the time shift of the output. Also as a result, this method is the extension of the linear model matching control system proposed by Wolovich, in which the control law is obtained by left-multiplying the output by the interactor matrix. At the end of paper, the proposed control system is applied to CCV flight control system of an aircraft and the feasibility of the proposed approach is shown by the numerical simulations.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the force control law which can be implemented on a non-modified robot system. The external force control algorithm proposed in this paper can be designed by means of a classical and modern control law. We showed the validation and the possibility of muti-dimensional force control idea through the simulation and experiments. Also, the Iterative learning control is studied for compensating errors due to thr disturbances and nonlinear effects. The previous information(control input, error) was used to determine the control input of next trial. The experimental result show the vaidity of this algorithm.

  • In this paper, integrated missile guidance and control systems using time-delay control (TDC) are developed. The next generation missile requires that an interceptor hits the target, maneuvering with small miss-distances, and has lower weight to reduce costs. This is possible if the synergism existing between the guidance and control subsystems is exploited by the integrated controller. The TDC law is a robust control technique for nonlinear systems, and it has a very simple structure. The feature of TDC is to directly estimate the unknown dynamics and the unexpected disturbance using one-step time-delay. To investigate the performance of the integrated controller, numerical simulations are performed as the maneuver of the target. The results show that the integrated guidance and control system has a good performance.

  • In order to control systems which contain nonlinearities control strategies must deal with the effects of them. Since most of control methods based on system mathematical models have been mainly developed focused on stability robustness against nonlinearities or uncertainties under the assumption that controlled systems are linear time invariant they have certain amount of limita-tions to smartly improve control perfomances of systems disturbed by nonlinearities or uncertainties. In this paper the fuzzy PID control law is suggested which can improve control performances of the nonlinear heavy load hydraulic systems disturbed by nonlinearities and uncertainties. Although the derivation process is based on the design process similar to general fuzzy logic con-troller resultant control law has analytical forms with time varying PID gains rather than linguis-tic forms so that implementation using commn-used versatile microprocessors can be achieved easily and effectively in real-time control aspect.

  • In this paper, the hybrid state space self-tuning control technique Is studied within the framework of fuzzy systems and dual-rate sampling control theory. We show that fuzzy modeling techniques can be used to formulate chaotic dynamical systems. Then, we develop the hybrid state space self-tuning fuzzy control techniques with dual-rate sampling for digital control of chaotic systems. An equivalent fast-rate discrete-time state-space model of the continuous-time system is constructed by using fuzzy inference systems. To obtain the continuous-time optimal state feedback gains, the constructed discrete-time fuzzy system is converted into a continuous-time system. The developed optimal continuous-time control law is then convened into an equivalent slow-rate digital control law using the proposed digital redesign method. The proposed technique enables us to systematically and effective]y carry out framework for modeling and control of chaotic systems. The proposed method has been successfully applied for controlling the chaotic trajectories of Chua's circuit.

  • The development of the control algorithms for under-actuated systems is important. Decoupled sliding mode control has been successfully employed to control under-actuated systems in a decoupling manner with the use of sliding mode control. However, in such a control scheme, the system functions must be known. If there are uncertainties in those functions, the control performance may not be satisfactory. In this paper, the direct adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control is employed to control a class of under-actuated uncertain systems which can be regarded as a combination of several subsystems with one same control input. By using the hierarchical sliding control approach, a sliding control law is derived so as to make every subsystem stabilized at the same time. But, since the system considered is assumed to be uncertain, the sliding control law cannot be readily facilitated. Therefore, in the study, based on Lyapunov stable theory a fuzzy compensator is proposed to approximate the uncertain part of the sliding control law. From those simulations, it can be concluded that the proposed compensator can indeed cope with system uncertainties. Besides, it can be found that the proposed compensator also provide good robustness properties.

  • An Arbitration agreement is one kind of contracts between two or more contracting parties; any possible disputes that arise concerning a contract will be settled by arbitration. Contracting parties who have made a valid arbitration agreement will submit a dispute for settlement to private persons(arbitrators) instead of to a court. Arbitration may depend upon the agreement of the private parties, but it is also a system which has been built on the law and which relies upon that law in order to make it effective both nationally and internationally. That is to say, arbitration is wholly dependent on the underlying support of the court. The complementarity of the courts and of the arbitrators is a well-established fact; they seek for the common purpose, the efficacy of international commercial arbitration. Most states' laws contain the provisions which have been set for the supportive role of the courts relating to arbitration; (1) the enforcement of the arbitration agreement(rulings on validity of the arbitration agreement), and the establishment of the tribunal at the beginning of the arbitration, (2) challenge of arbitrators, interim measures, and intervention during evidence in the middle of the arbitral proceedings, (3) filing of the award, challenge of the arbitral award, and recognition and enforcement of the arbitral award at the end of the arbitration. Most international instruments and national laws concerning arbitration believe that authoritative courts should play their power not to control and supervise arbitration but to support and develop the merits of arbitration at most. 1985 UNCITRAL Model Law also expressly limit the scope of court's intervention to assist arbitration, not to control it.

  • An avoidance/guidance problem of an aircraft against moving obstacle is considered in two dimensional space. The aircraft is modelled as a point mass flying with constant speed. The lateral acceleration is assumed the control input. Artificial potential functions are applied to the terminal point and moving obstacles in order that repulsive forces and an attractive force are produced by the obstacles and the terminal point respectively. A real time guidance/avoidance law is proposed by using the potential forces and relative velocity. The guidance law for a logarithm potential function results the well-known proportional navigation law. The avoidance control command is inverse proportional to the time-to-go to the obstacle and turns the aircraft toward the negative direction of the line-of-sight change. The performance of the proposed guidance/avoidance law is verified with simulations.

  • In this paper, an active vibration control of a tensioned, elastic, axially moving string is investigated. The dynamics of the translating string are described with a non-linear partial differential equation coupled with an ordinary differential equation. A right boundary control to suppress the transverse vibrations of the translating continuum is proposed. The control law is derived via the Lyapunov second method. The exponential stability of the closed-loop system is verified. The effectiveness of the proposed control law is simulated.
