  • Generally, the conventional battery charging system using an analog method has the large, heavy hardware and low efficiency. Also, it has the disadvantage that it is necessary to replace the control circuit on the basis of the characteristic curve of the specific battery cell. The proposed programmable digital LLC resonant charging system use high efficiency control system(CC-CV), and has characteristic a small hardware and advantage that a digital programming of the voltage, current, and battery capacity characteristics can be flexible. The system proposed the use of Half-bridge LLC resonant converter is possible to improve efficiency and reduce switching losses by using ZVS topology. Further, a constant voltage - constant current(CC-CV) control algorithm apply to the charger which using a buck converter. The performance of the proposed system is demonstrated through experiments.

  • A variable blank holding force method is proposed to improve deep drawing characteristics of sheet materials. In this method, the blank holding force (BHF) is controlled throughout a drawing process so that the punch load does not exceed a critical value, which is slightly less than the conventional process with the conforming process with the variable BHF is more flexible than the conventional process with the constant BHF and it could be used for improving the product's quality and drawability. In this paper we suggest a method controlling the BHF as a function of punch travel during the forming process. The optimization BHF curves are determined theoretically and experimentally. It is concluded that for the case of optimum BHF control methods the drawn cup height and the drawing formability achieved by this method are increased than those for constant BHF method. Also, as comparing the wall thickness distribution of the cup drawn by the constant BHF and the optimum BHF control, the BHF control reduce the wall thickness variation of the drawn cup at the cup wall and make the cup thickness distribution more uniformly than the constant BHF.

  • A constant torque dynamometer with associated instrumentation and control functions for the development of friction materials for automotive-type disc brakes, has been developed. Full scale disc pads are subject to a series of intermittent brake applications at a constant rotational speed of the brake disc and constant braking power. This paper gives a description of the dynamometer and an example of results obtained.

  • Numerical analysis of the three dimensional turbulent flow field in a complex valve shape is carried out to confirm the flow field whether the designed valve shape is good or not. The simulation of the incompressible flow in a constant flowrate control valve is performed by using the commercial code, FLUENT/UNS 6.0. The results of flow field show the designed valve has some problems, therefore these will be good data for new valve design.

  • This paper presents the results of driving performance analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motor using a microprocessor based control system. The system consists of three phase power transistor inverters, three phase controlled rectifier, three central processing units, and sensors. The three CPUs are, respectively, used to generate PWM control signals for the inverter generating three phase sine wave, to generate the gate control signals for firing the converter, and to supervise other two CPUs. The supervisor is used to compute PI control algtorithm to three phase reference sine wave for the inverter. It is also used to maintain a constant voltage frequency ratio for the converter operating as a constant torque controller. The inverter CPU retrieves precomputed PWM patterns from look up tables because of computation speed limitations found in almost available microprocessors. The converter CPU also retrieves precomputed gate control patterns from another look-up tables. For protecting the control ststem from any damage by extraordinary over currents, the supervisor receives the data from current sensor, CT, and break down the CB to isolate the circuits from source. A resolver has a good performance characteristics of overall speed range, especially on low speed range. Therefor the speed control accuracy is impoved. The microprocessor based PM synchronous motor control system, thus, has many advantages such as constant torque characteristics, improvement of wave, limitation on extraordinary over currents, improvement of speed control accuracy, and fast response speed control using multi-CPU and look-up tables.

Robust On-line Rotor Time Constant Estimation for Induction Machines

  • This paper proposes an on-line rotor time constant estimation strategy for indirect field oriented induction machines. The performance of the indirect field oriented control is dependent especially on the rotor time constant whose value varies according to the temperature. The proposed method calculates the difference between the nominal rotor time constant and the real value from the d- and q-axis integration terms of a proportional integral (PI) current regulator and the demanded voltages of the induction machine to regulate the current in the steady state. Because the proposed strategy has a simple structure and is available in wide speed and torque ranges, the proposed method can be easily used in the industrial field. The effectiveness of proposed strategy is verified with simulations and a 7.5kW experimental setup.

  • This article deals with the sensor-less control of a DC Motor via a SEPIC Converter-Full Bridge combination powered through solar panels. We simultaneously regulate, both, the output voltage of the SEPIC-converter to a value larger than the solar panel output voltage, and the shaft angular velocity, in any of the turning senses, so that it tracks a pre-specified constant reference. The main result of our proposed control scheme is an efficient linear controller obtained via Lyapunov. This controller is based on measurements of the converter currents and voltages, and the DC motor armature current. The control law is derived using an exact stabilization error dynamics model, from which a static linear passive feedback control law is derived. All values of the constant references are parameterized in terms of the equilibrium point of the multivariable system: the SEPIC converter desired output voltage, the solar panel output voltage at its Maximun Power Point (MPP), and the DC motor desired constant angular velocity. The switched control realization of the designed average continuous feedback control law is accomplished by means of a, discrete-valued, Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). Experimental results are presented demonstrating the viability of our proposal.

  • Monitoring variability is a vital part of modem statistical process control. The conventional Shewhart Rand S charts address the setting where the in-control process readings have a constant variance. In some settings, however, it is the coefficient of variation, rather than the variance, that should be constant. This paper develops a chart, equivalent to the S chart, for monitoring the coefficient of variation using rational groups of observations.

  • Pontryagin의 최대원리의 놀라운 방식을 써서 원자로에 있어서 최적제어 switching시간과 최적제초 switching 점을 구하였다. 그리고 원자로의 초기상태에서 그의 목표상태로 출력을 변환시킬 때의 제어궤적을 시간최적제어 방식을 이용하여 주어진 원자로의 parameter 값과 piecewise constant 입력값에 따라 최적화 시켰다.

  • This paper presents an integrated sliding mode adaptive control scheme for general nonlinear uncertain systems, where structured uncertainty is assumed can be linearly parameterized and unstructured uncertainty is assumed be bounded by unknown constant A certain estimation scheme for this unknown constant is introduced to attenuate the unstructured uncertainty. Presented control scheme is shown to be stable and numerical expressions of bounds of all error signals are given, from which we can acquire some useful information about practical trade-off between tracking performance and parameter estimation property.
