  • Kinetics and mechanism for alkaline hydrolysis of C. I. Disperse Green 9(G-9) of dinitrothiophene disperse dye were investigated. As soon as G-9 contacted with alkali, instant and continuous decreases of color strength of G-9 followed with increasing time. The hydrolysis rate of G-9 increased with increasing alkali, and it was found that alkali appeared first order dependence. The observed rate constants obtained from hydrolysis of various amount of dye were similar values, and calculation of initial rates showed that G-9 hydrolyzed by first order reaction for dye. Therefore it was confirmed that the overall reaction was second order, $SN_2$ of nucleophilic substitution reaction. Increasing temperature enhanced the hydrolysis of G-9. From the results of hydrolysis performed at various temperatures, it was obtained that activation energy(Ea) was 12.6 kcal/mole, enthalpy of reaction(${\triangle}H$) was 12.0 kcal/mole, and entropy of reaction(${\triangle}S$) was $29.8J/mol{\cdot}K$.

  • In this paper, we introduce the estimation method by Risk or SIL(Safety Integrity Level) for the criterion of safety assurance and summarize each application method and target. IEC 62278(EN 50126) which is international standard for the specification and verification of the railway system RAMS indicate a criterion of safety assurance. Especially, it recommend the safety verification by continuous verification as the order of requirement establishment, design, manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance for the equipment not easy to quantify the operation environment. In this paper, we study the SIL requirement allocation method relating to internal new system development and existing system improvement by analysing SIL recommendations which were used to understand SIL for a train control equipment in 1990s in IRSE and theoretically their allocation background. This paper help the safety management of Korea train control system to develope the quantitative management procedure as international level by analyzing the SIL requirement allocation by operation agency and the right SIL verification procedure by manufacture and indicating the example to assure safety because it is necessary for improvement and localization for the Korea train control system having highly dependence on aboard technology.

  • This paper presents a topology optimization approach using element-free Galerkin method (EFGM) for the optimal design of compliant mechanisms with geometrically non-linearity. Meshless method has an advantage over the finite element method(FEM) because it is more capable of handling large deformation resulted from geometrical nonlinearity. Therefore, in this paper, EFGM is employed to discretize the governing equations and the bulk density field. The sensitivity analysis of the optimization problem is performed by incorporating the adjoint approach with the meshless method. The Lagrange multipliers method adjusted for imposition of both the concentrated and continuous essential boundary conditions in the EFGM is proposed in details. The optimization mathematical formulation is developed to convert the multi-criteria problem to an equivalent single-objective problem. The popularly applied interpolation scheme, solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP), is used to indicate the dependence of material property upon on pseudo densities discretized to the integration points. A well studied numerical example has been applied to demonstrate the proposed approach works very well and the non-linear EFGM can obtain the better topologies than the linear EFGM to design large-displacement compliant mechanisms.

  • Bearing in mind that global climate change is a rising issue, the coastal community of Prek Thnaot, Cambodia has been put on severe effects about natural disasters caused from poor infrastructure and agriculture dependence. This paper proposes to provide and guide a strategic action for the sustainable development path of coastal community in a more continuous manner including a robust resilience to impacts of climate change, natural disasters, and other risks. In doing so, this paper will help environmentally sound management and coastal resources sustainability being sound for socially and economically inclusive development. Proposed fourteen strategic actions for the research should be accompanying with the participation of and cooperation from the local coastal community. Based on the proposed strategic actions, it is critical that the local authorities and other key stakeholders need to accomplish. Providing a good insight for the central government, the strategic action is expected to integrate and prepare a management strategy plan for the local coastal community level. Therefore, this information can be applied to other coastal areas to promote and ensure sustainable protection and management of coastal resources.

  • A two-stage iterative Fourier transform algorithm, based on hybrid input-output algorithm and new Pnoise algorithm, is used to design continuous and quantized phase-only diffractive pattern elements which produce arbitrary given intensity patterns via Fraunhofer diffraction. Numerical results for two $128\times128$ binary patterns and two grayscale patterns are compared with those of other algorithms. It is found that the algorithm yields better signal-to-noise ratio and even better uniformity with slightly lower diffraction efficiency than other algorithms. We investigated the dependence of performance on parameters used in the algorithm, size of noise region, and the number of phase levels for quantized elements. In the case of quantized phase elements, the size of noise region plays a greater role in determining the performance of the algorithm than given intensity pattern itself. tself.

  • The accuracy of satellite-observed sea surface salinity (SSS) was evaluated in comparison with in-situ salinity measurements from ARGO floats and buoys in the seas around the Korean Peninsula, the northwest Pacific, and the global ocean. Differences in satellite SSS and in-situ measurements (SSS errors) indicated characteristic dependences on geolocation, sea surface temperature (SST), and other oceanic and atmospheric conditions. Overall, the root-mean-square (rms) errors of non-averaged SMOS SSSs ranged from approximately 0.8-1.08 psu for each in-situ salinity dataset consisting of ARGO measurements and non-ARGO data from CTD and buoy measurements in both local seas and the ocean. All SMOS SSSs exhibited characteristic negative bias errors at a range of -0.50- -0.10 psu in the global ocean and the northwest Pacific, respectively. Both rms and bias errors increased to 1.07 psu and -0.17 psu, respectively, in the East Sea. An analysis of the SSS errors indicated dependence on the latitude, SST, and wind speed. The differences of SMOS-derived SSSs from in-situ salinity data tended to be amplified at high latitudes (40-60°N) and high sea water salinity. Wind speeds contributed to the underestimation of SMOS salinity with negative bias compared with in-situ salinity measurements. Continuous and extensive validation of satellite-observed salinity in the local seas around Korea should be further investigated for proper use.

  • Five years have passed since the introduction of the smart factory amid the new opportunities for growth and job creation in relation to domestic manufacturing companies. Nevertheless, there is a lack of analysis on SMEs introduction smart factories. This study empirically analyzed the effects on the introduction of smart factories of domestic metal processing SMEs by distinguishing the characteristics of enterprises In this study, 103 companies which introduced smart factories and another 106 companies which did not introduce them were sampled. The Introduction of the Smart Factory was analyzed by four categories such as the Company characteristics (R&D capability, product production capability, organizational change), entrepreneur characteristics (risk sensitivity), relational characteristics (trust, dependence, cooperation, Influence), and structural characteristics (competition). As a result of the research, we found out product production capacity, risk sensitivity, trust and cooperation, Influence, and competition are statistically significant in the introduction of smart factory. But competition was characterized by a negative (-) sign opposite to the hypothesis. This study is meaningful in that the scope of the analysis has been expanded by analyzing whether smart factory was introduced or not considering the characteristics of the company. And there should be continuous research on its utilization as well as the introduction of smart factory.
