  • The rapid growth and dissemination of touch-based mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet PCs, gives numerous benefits to people using a variety of multimedia contents. Due to its portability, it enables users to watch a soccer game, search video from YouTube, and sometimes tag on contents on the road. However, the limited screen size of mobile devices and touch-based character input methods based on this, are still major problems of searching and tagging multimedia contents. In this paper, we propose WalkieTagging, which provides a much more intuitive way than that of previous one. Just like any other previous video tagging services, WalkieTagging, as a voice-based annotation service, supports inserting detailed annotation data including start time, duration, tags, with little effort of users. To evaluate our methods, we developed the Android-based WalkieTagging application and performed user study via a two-week. Through our experiments by a total of 46 people, we observed that experiment participator think our system is more convenient and useful than that of touch-based one. Consequently, we found out that voice-based annotation methods can provide users with much convenience and satisfaction than that of touch-based methods in the mobile environments.

  • This study explores the effect of tagging in Social Network Services, especially Facebook, which has become popular as a marketing platform. In Facebook, users generally make recommendations using 'Like', 'Share', or 'Tag'. 'Tag' is different from 'Like' or 'Share' in that it can be used to deliver certain messages directly to specific people based on their interests or characteristics. Tagging can be categorized into rewarded tagging and non-rewarded tagging. As a result of our exploratory research, we found that non-rewarded tagging by certain users can indicate that the people, who are tagged, are interested in the contents of the users and share the same interest as them. Also, tagging indicates that these users want to share these services, such as restaurants and tours, with their friends who are tagged in the contents. Therefore, this study sheds light on the importance of the tagging function, as well as 'Like' and 'Share'.

  • The use of tagging to describes web documents in the form of keyword has experienced rising popularity among various web services. Tagging also plays an important role in collaborative bookmarking services which can be regarded as an online favorite bookmark service. Tags which are created by users make it easier to search other users' bookmarks as well as user's own bookmarks. In this paper we analyze usage patterns of collaborative tagging for exploring factors influencing the number of tags in web documents and users. We discovered that user's characteristics have more effect on the tags than the web documents' characteristics. Moreover, leading users contribute to make a variety of tag than following users. Our study implies that more knowledge can be created through the incentives for leading user in order to improve the service quality of tagging service.

  • As shown in Wikipedia, tagging or cross-linking through major key-words improves the readability of documents. Recently, the Semantic Web rises the importance of social tagging as a key feature of the Web 2.0 and Tag Cloud has emerged as its crucial phenotype. In this paper we provides an efficient method of automated keyword tagging based on controlled term collection, where the computational complexity of O(mN) - if pattern matching algorithm is used - can be reduced to O(mlogN) - if Information Retrieval is adopted - while m is the length of target document and N is the total number of candidate terms to be tagged. The result shows that IR-based tagging speeds up 5.6 times compared with fast pattern matching algorithm.

  • In this paper i offer a new part-of-speech tagging method for Korean, it can solve difficulty of statistical data acquisition and ambiguities due to same part-of-speech stream input and make good use of the Corpus. This method can solve that the corpus don't have huge. This method uses pattern information about part-of-speech among eojols and constraint-rules in order to perform part-of-speech tagging. The Constraint-rule is used to select appropriate part-of-speech pattern.

  • Collaborative tagging describes the process by which many users add metadata in the form of keywords to shared content. Recently, collaborative tagging has grown in popularity on the web, on sites that allow users to tag bookmarks, photographs, videos and other content. In this paper, we analyze the structure and basic knowledge of collaborative tagging systems as well as their dynamical aspects. We also present a retrieval system, TagPlus, using synonym tag that is derived from WordNet database. Specifically, TagPlus, a synonym tag based system has users retrieve images from Flickr system. The proposed system show the images tagged by not only the tag that users input but also the synonyms that are synonyms with the tag.

  • In the era of Web 2.0, users create a number of their own Web contents. So, multimedia search becomes much more important than ever. A tag is a simple keyword which describes the Web contents including URL, pictures, and videos. Tags perform a role of descriptors of Web contents and Web metadata properly. If the number of tagged Web data increases, users are more likely to find the desired search result because the system includes the Web contents which have richer Web metadata. However, the number of users who use tags as Web metadata is relatively small. Because of the cumbersome process of adding tags, or users do not know what to add for the better accessibility from the public. Given situation, tag recommendation, which helps the process of adding tags, has been studied to solve these problems. When a user adds some Web contents, the tag recommendation system recommends relevant tags for the Web contents to the use, and the user selects recommended tags. We analyze and categorize various tag recommendation algorithms in tagging system.

  • We propose a collaborative social tagging for eBook using external DSL approach. The goal of this paper is (1) to provide DSL by which authors can write HTML5 rich contents ebook and tag resources, (2) to make users enhance book by tagging resources easily, (3) to make readers read rich book easily regardless of their devices types, (4) to provide ebook resources of RESTful address style by which other system can identify self-descriptive resources of book. To achieve the goal, we provide Bukle DSL language by which author and users can author and enhance ebook with ease. As a domainspecific language Bukle provides a simple yet expressive language for authoring and tagging books that would otherwise be more difficult to express with a general purpose language. Further work includes visual DSL approach and tools by using that the unskilled users could tag book easily. In order that future work also includes text-to-visual DSL transform engine. UX research is also required to tag and to author book. To tackle the above questions we are looking at using visual notation focusing visual syntax.

  • A hybrid part-of-speech tagging approaches may be robust, easily extendable, and accurate because they can have the advantages of both statistical approach and rule-based approach. But conventional hybrid part-of-speech tagging systems hardly resolve some morphological ambiguities which can't be resolved by statistical information. It is because the coverage of rules is narrow. So, we define disambiguation rules for individual ambiguous word based on syntax and semantics of surround words. We select words from which the top 50% of ambiguities are occurred in Sejong corpus and build 1,814 rules for them. The accuracy of our hybrid part-of-speech tagging system using those rules is 98.28%.

  • Traditional methods and materials used for Korean buildings need to be well organized and managed so that they can be utilized in modernization of old buildings. Supporting web-based management of information of Korean traditional building materials helps spread the related knowledge. This paper identifies the characteristics of traditional building materials data, and develops an information structure to represent the related information effectively. It also describes design decisions on web-based user interfaces to support flexible browsing and retrieval of the managed data. As the traditional building data are described by old domain-specific technical terms, utility of the developed service might be limited to those who are familiar with the terms. As an approach to tackle this problem, the proposed system supports user tagging by allowing users to classify the stored information using their own terms, and also to retrieve data using the user-supplied tags.
