An Intelligent Recommendation Service System for Offering Halal Food (IRSH) Based on Dynamic Profiles

  • As the growth of developing Islamic countries, Muslims are into the world. The most important thing for Muslims to purchase food, ingredient, cosmetics and other products are whether they were certified as 'Halal'. With the increasing number of Muslim tourists and residents in Korea, Halal restaurants and markets are on the rise. However, the service that provides information on Halal restaurants and markets in Korea is very limited. Especially, the application of recommendation system technology is effective to provide Halal restaurant information to users efficiently. The profiling of Halal restaurant information should be preceded by design of recommendation system, and design of recommendation algorithm is most important part in designing recommendation system. In this paper, an Intelligent Recommendation Service system for offering Halal food (IRSH) based on dynamic profiles was proposed. The proposed system recommend a customized Halal restaurant, and proposed recommendation algorithm uses hybrid filtering which is combined by content-based filtering, collaborative filtering and location-based filtering. The proposed algorithm combines several filtering techniques in order to improve the accuracy of recommendation by complementing the various problems of each filtering. The experiment of performance evaluation for comparing with existed restaurant recommendation system was proceeded, and result that proposed IRSH increase recommendation accuracy using Halal contents was deducted.

Deep Learning-based Evolutionary Recommendation Model for Heterogeneous Big Data Integration

  • This study proposes a deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model for heterogeneous big data integration, for which collaborative filtering and a neural-network algorithm are employed. The proposed model is used to apply an individual's importance or sensory level to formulate a recommendation using the decision-making feedback. The evolutionary recommendation model is based on the Deep Neural Network (DNN), which is useful for analyzing and evaluating the feedback data among various neural-network algorithms, and the DNN is combined with collaborative filtering. The designed model is used to extract health information from data collected by the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and the collaborative filtering-based recommendation model was compared with the deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model to evaluate its performance. The RMSE is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. According to the comparative analysis, the accuracy of the deep learning-based evolutionary recommendation model is superior to that of the collaborative filtering-based recommendation model.

Sparsity Effect on Collaborative Filtering-based Personalized Recommendation (협업 필터링 기반 개인화 추천에서의 평가자료의 희소 정도의 영향)

  • Collaborative filtering is one of popular techniques for personalized recommendation in e-commerce sites. An advantage of collaborative filtering is that the technique can work with sparse evaluation data to predict preference scores of new alternative contents or advertisements. There is, however, no in-depth study about the sparsity effect of customer's evaluation data to the performance of recommendation. In this study, we investigate the sparsity effect and hybrid usages of customers' evaluation data and purchase data using an experiment result. The result of the analysis shows that the performance of recommendation decreases monotonically as the sparsity increases, and also the hybrid usage of two different types of data; customers' evaluation data and purchase data helps to increase the performance of recommendation in sparsity situation.

Stereo Matching Algorithm Based on Fast Guided Image Filtering for 3-Dimensional Video Service (3차원 비디오 서비스를 위한 고속 유도 영상 필터링 기반 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘)

  • Stereo matching algorithm is an essential part in computer vision and photography. Accuracy and computational complexity are challenges of stereo matching algorithm. Much research has been devoted to stereo matching based on cost volume filtering of matching costs. Local stereo matching based guided image filtering (GIF) has a computational complexity of O(N), but is still not enough to provide real-time 3-dimensional (3-D) video services. The proposed algorithm concentrates reduction of computational complexity using the concept of fast guided image filter, which increase the speed up to $O(N/\small{s}^2)$ with a sub-sampling ratio $\small{s}$. Experimental results indicated that the proposed algorithm achieves effective local stereo matching as well as a fast execution time for 3-D video service.

  • In modern society, the amount of information has been significantly increased according to the development of Internet and IT convergence technology and that leads to develop information obtaining and searching technologies from lots of data. Although the system integration for medicare has been largely established and that accumulates large amounts of information, there is a lack of providing and supporting information for nursing activities using such established database. In particular, the judgement for the intervention of pains depends on the experience of individual nurses and that leads to make subjective decisions in usual. In this paper, a pain nursing supporting method that uses the existing medical data and performs collaborative filtering is proposed. The proposed collaborative filtering is a method that extracts some items, which represent a high relativeness level, based on similar preferences. A preference estimation method using a user based collaborative filtering method calculates user similarities through Pearson correlation coefficients in which a neighbor selection method is used based on the user preference.

User and Item based Collaborative Filtering Using Classification Property Naive Bayesian (분류 속성과 Naive Bayesian을 이용한 사용자와 아이템 기반의 협력적 필터링)

  • The collaborative filtering has used the nearest neighborhood method based on the preference and the similarity using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Therefore, it does not reflect content of the items and has the problems of the sparsity and scalability as well. the item-based collaborative filtering has been practically used to improve these defects, but it still does not reflect attributes of the item. In this paper, we propose the user and item based collaborative filtering using the classification property and Naive Bayesian to supplement the defects in the existing recommendation system. The proposed method complexity refers to the item similarity based on explicit data and the user similarity based on implicit data for handing the sparse problem. It applies to the Naive Bayesian to the result of reference. Also, it can enhance the accuracy as computation of the item similarity reflects on the correlative rank among the classification property to reflect attributes.

A Design and Implementation of EPG Using Collaborative Filtering Based on MHP (MHP 기반의 협업필터링을 적용한 EPG 설계 및 구현)

  • With the development of broadcasting technology from analogue to interactive digital, the number of TV channels and contents provided to audience is increasing in a rapid speed. In this multi-media and multi-channel world, it is difficult to adapt to the increase of TV channel numbers and their contents merely using remote controller to search channels. Due to this reason, EPG (Electronic Program Guide) has been one of the essential services providing convenience to audience. So EPG complying with European DVB-MHP specifications, which will be also our domestic standard, is proposed in this paper. In order to provide audiences with DiTV contents they preferred, we apply collaborative filtering algorithm to recommend contents according to preference value of audience group with similar preference. And we use JavaXlet application which is based on MHP to implement this EPG, while the result can be verified by OpenMHP emulator.

Collaborative filtering method with multi-step filtering is used in EPG to recommend contents according to the preference of audience groups with similar preference. To implement our designed TV contents recommendation EPG, we prefer DiTV and use JavaXlet programming based on MHP. The European DVB-MHP specification will be also our domestic standard in DiTV. Finally, the result is verified by OpenMHP emulator.

Personalization of LBS using Recommender Systems Based on Collaborative Filtering (협업 필터링 기반 추천 시스템을 이용한 LBS의 개인화)

  • While a supply of GPS-enabled smartphone is increased, LBS which is studied and developed for special function is changed to personal solution. In this paper, we propose and implement on personalized method of individual LBS using collaborative filtering-based recommend system. Proposed personalized LBS system recommends contents which is expected to be interest for individual user, by predicting location-based contents within a user's setting radius. To evaluate performance of proposed system, we observed prediction accuracy with various experimental condition using our prototype. As a result, we confirmed that the convergence of collaborative filtering and LBS is effective for personalized LBS.

Detection of the Optic Disk Boundary in Retinal Images Using Inward and Outward Curve Evolution (양방향 곡선 전개 방식을 이용한 망막영상에서의 시신경 원판 경계 검출)

  • This paper describes a technique for detecting the boundary of the optic disk in digital image of the retina using inward and outward curve evolution. This paper offers medical information about glaucoma progresses. For accurate boundary detection, image inpainting based on texture synthesis removes blood vessels crossing the optic disk. For removing noises and preserving boundary of optic disk in image inpainting process, the anisotropic diffusion filtering is necessary. After pre-processing, the optic disk boundary is determined using inward and outward curve evolution. The experimental results show that the algorithm is effective for detection of optic disk boundary.
