Seasonal and gender differences of beverage consumption in elementary school students

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the beverage consumption by gender and season in elementary school children and to investigate the role of beverage consumption patterns on their daily nutrient intakes and BMIs. Beverage consumption and dietary energy intake in 160 elementary school students in the Gyeongnam area were measured by a beverage frequency and quantity questionnaire and three 24-hour dietary recalls during winter and summer. The number of drinking moments per month, the amounts of beverage per day, and the energy from beverage consumption were not different between winter and summer. In summer, the contribution of energy from sweetened beverage to the daily energy intake in girls accounted for 13.5% which was significantly higher compared to 7.7% in boys. In girls, the consumption of health beverage showed a significant correlation with various nutrient intakes in winter. Meanwhile, the sweetened beverage intake was negatively correlated with energy, protein, vitamin A and niacin intake in summer. Consumption of most of the beverages, including sweetened beverages, were not related with BMI in both sexes and both seasons, except functional drinks which were related with BMI in boys in winter.

베이커리제품을 구매하는 여성소비자의 소비가치가 충동구매와 구매만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Consumption Value of Female Consumers who Buy Bakery Goods on Impulse Buying and Purchase Satisfaction)

  • This study was to examine how consumption value of female consumers affects impulse consumption and purchase satisfaction when they buy bakery goods, present specific determinant factors that affect them, and identify its influencing factors. The survey was conducted with those who have bought bakery goods of female consumers in Seoul and Kyonggi area, using a convenience sampling method. After a total of 400 responses was collected, 366 responses were included for the multiple regression analyses in order to test the hypotheses. To summarize findings from this study, analysis of the first hypothesis showed that "emotional impulse buying," "stimulating impulse buying," "reminder impulse buying," and "situational impulse buying" among impulse buying factors in consumption value factors had positive effects. The second hypothesis analyzed that "emotional impulse buying," "stimulating impulse buying," and "situational impulse buying" gave positive impacts on "purchase satisfaction," while "reminder impulse buying" had no influence. Analysis of the third hypothesis demonstrated that "consumption value" had positive effects on "purchase satisfaction." These findings were significant to examine consumption value that show the consuming pattern of consumers, analyze influencing factors on impulse buying of female consumers, and further present marketing strategies used for advantageous tools with competing stores to bakery owners or marketers.

도심주행에 있어서 가솔린 자동차의 연료소비 및 오염물질 배출특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of gasoline consumption and CO emission in urban traffic)

  • The relationship between vehicle driving pattern and fuel consumption in urban area was studied in Seoul along three representative routes using a test car equipped with all the instruments required for recording modes of traffic and measuring fuel consumption. Correlation with idle speed, fuel consumption and CO concentration of car in use was also measured. The average vehicle speed in Seoul was 31.4 km/h and the time spent in different modes was 23.0% in idle mode, 22.5% in acceleration mode, 32.4% in cruising mode and 22.3% in deceleration mode, respectively. Hence, traffic flow was suggested to be relatively smooth. Fuel consumption per unit distance, .phi. was closely related with trip time spent per unit distance, t, and correlation coefficient obtained from the test car was 0.925, and the relationship between .phi. and t was also obtained from the linear regression with the following equation. .phi.=42.87+0.38 t. Idle speed of vehicle in use was mostly adjusted low and cars which were over the permissible standard of CO concentration (4.5%) were 50% or more. As the idle speed decreased, the fuel consumption was decreased, while the CO concentration was increased. Therefore, the decrease of fuel consumption can not be expected with only a decrease in idle speed.

  • The purpose of this study was to suggest specific evaluation data for heating and DHW energy consumption characteristics through analyzing energy consumption measurement data of gas boiler in Apartment Buildings with individual heating systems. To do this, it was measured both gas flow and electricity for heating and DHW respectively, and then it was analyzed not only characteristics according to energy sources; gas and electricity, but also the effect of various factors on heating and DHW energy consumption. The result of this study were as follows. It was developed the electric energy estimation model of a gas boiler through analysis on patterns by energy sources. And the effective factors for heating and DHW energy consumption were demonstrated as follows: the area for exclusive use, the number of auxiliary heating equipments, the number of occupants, and the number of sanitary fixtures.

경기북부지역 대학생의 건강기능식품 인식 및 섭취 실태 조사 (Recognition and Consumption for the Health Functional Food of College Students in the Northern Gyeonggi-do Area)

  • This study was conducted to assess the recognition and consumption of health functional food (HFF) of the college students in the Northern Gyeonggi-do area (Republic of Korea). To accomplish this, a survey was conducted to investigate 360 college students (183 males and 177 females) regarding their general characteristics, as well as the recognition, knowledge, considerations, purchases and consumption of HFF. Most male and female students (68.9% and 61.6%, respectively) were unaware of the HFF certification mark, however, more females(58.8%) were aware of the legal HFF definition compared to males (36.6%). The HFF advertising routes for males and females were 'TV radio' (43.2% and 43.5%, respectively) and 'internet smart phones' (19.7% and 27.1%, respectively). The main factor considered for selection and the most serious problem concerning HFF by males and females were 'effectiveness' (36.1% and 43.6%, respectively) and 'hype (exaggerated advertisement)' (35.0% and 55.9%, respectively). The main purchase route by males and females was 'pharmacy' (35.2% and 27.8%, respectively). The main reason for HFF product purchase by males and females was 'health promotion' (38.8% and 29.4%, respectively) and the main reason for not purchasing an HFF product was 'no health problem'(34.8% and 36.7%, respectively). The percentage of HFF consumption was 46.0% in males and 69.8% in females. The main HFF product consumed by males and females was 'vitamin mineral' (36.9% and 43.5%, respectively). The main reason for HFF consumption by males was 'health promotion' (31.0%) and females was 'recovery from fatigue' (21.8%). The main reason for not consuming HFF by males and females was 'no health problem' (38.4% and 41.5%, respectively). These results suggest the need to provide correct information concerning HFF to college students. Based on these results, greater efforts should be made to provide meaningful information regarding factors affecting purchase and consumption patterns for college students related to the research and development of HFF in the Northern Gyeonggi-do area.

센서 네트워크 환경에서 에너지 효율을 위한 계층적 통신 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hierarchical Communication Method for Energy Efficiency in Sensor Network Environment)

  • 무선 통신과 센서 기술의 발달과 더불어 센서 네트워크의 응용이 다양한 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 센서 네트워크 환경에서 센서의 전력 소비를 최소화하는 것은 시스템의 수명을 연장하기 위한 중요한 요인 중의 하나이다. 센서 네트워크에서 각 센서 노드의 전력 소모는 헤드(싱크) 노드와의 통신 방법에 따라 달라 질 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 각 센서의 전력 소모를 최소하기 위한 새로운 계층적 통신 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 분할 정복 기법을 사용하여 센서 네트워크의 영역을 네 개의 영역으로 구분하고 각 영역에서 헤드 노드와 가장 가까운 노드를 그 노드의 자식 노드로 구성한다. 다음에 더 이상 영역이 분할되지 않을 때까지 같은 방법을 반복적으로 적용하여 계층적 트리를 구성한다. 각 센서 노드는 이러한 계층적 트리를 이용하여 헤드 노드와 통신을 수행한다. 본 연구에서 제안된 결과는 시뮬레이션을 통하여 기존의 방법과 비교하였으며 그 결과 센서 네트워크의 에너지 효율에서 우수한 결과가 도출됨을 보였다.

총식이조사를 위한 식품의 소비형태 및 식품섭취량 조사 연구 (Study on Food Intake and Food Consumption Pattern of Adults as a Part of Total Diet Study)

  • A dietary intake survey in 2 major city area was conducted as a part of the study which determined the level of exposure of people to harmful substances in foodstuff. A total of 800 randomly selected men and women aged 20-49 yr and living in the cities of Seoul and Taegu were invited to participate in the survey. All subjects were interviewed by trained dietitians to answer for demorgraphic characteristics and dietary intake for 1 day by 24hr recall method, and asked to record what day ate for following 2 more days by themselves. Results were analyzed and presented for the amount and frequency of food intake by area, sex body weight. Food consumed most by adults resifing in these 2 city area was rice and followed by kimchi in the amount of 225.7g/persn/day and 85.0g/person/day, respectively. In the list of foods consumed most frequently, items used for condiments were included in addition to rice and kimchi. And the total daily intake of food per person was summed up to be 1, 534g for men and 1, 304g for women. Considerable part of this sexual difference in total intake was originated from the difference in beverage consumption including alcoholic beverages and the higher intake of certain foodstuff due to higher body weight of men. Intake data were presented din terms of per capita and per kg body weight, and compared among adults in different categories of body weight, also. The data gathered here, food intake by individuals, reflect our own dietary culture in terms of food assortment and relative contribution of each food item to total food intake include the consumption of "extreme" eaters might be found useful also especially for the sake of food safety such as risk assessment using ADI and PTWI for contaminants in the food supply.od supply.

브리지 클러스터를 이용한 에너지 효율적 센서 네트워크 클러스터링 (An Energy-Efficient Sensor Network Clustering Using the Bridge Cluster)

  • 공급 전원의 교체가 어려운 무선 센서 네트워크에서 전력 소모량을 줄이기 위하여 효율적 라우팅에 관한 연구가 다양하게 진행되고 있다. 그 중 라우팅 분야는 현재 동적 클러스터링 방식이 가장 효율적인 방식으로 연구되고 있다. 동적 클러스터링 방식은 클러스터를 구성하는 부분과 데이터를 전송하는 부분으로 구성된다. 데이터를 전송하는 부분의 전력 소모는 크로스오버 영역을 중심으로 전송거리가 가까운 센서 노드는 전력 소모량이 $d^2$에 비례하고, 전송거리가 먼 센서노드는 $d^4$에 비례된다. 그러므로 크로스오버 영역 밖의 먼 거리 전송을 줄이는 것은 중요하다. 본 논문은 동적 클러스터 방식의 데이터 전송 부분에서 전송거리가 크로스오버 영역 밖의 먼 거리 전송을 최소화함으로 전력 소모량을 줄이는 방법을 제안하였다. 이 방식은 데이터 전송에 있어서는 크로스오버 영역 내에 브리지 클러스터를 구축하여 경유하는 방식으로 전송거리와 관계없이 각 노드의 소비전력이 균등하고, 모든 노드의 전체 전력 소모량을 줄이는 방식이다. 이 제안의 타당성을 모의 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

WBAN 환경에서 에너지 효율을 고려한 트래픽 적응형 전송 알고리즘 (Traffic Adaptive Transmission Algorithm for Energy Efficiency in WBAN)

  • Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN)은 인체 주변 3~5m 이내의 영역에서 의료 및 비의료 장치들로 구성된 네트워크이다. 다양한 서비스를 제공해야 하는 WBAN은 저전력, 다양한 전송률, 데이터 우선순위 등의 요구사항들을 만족시켜야 한다. 특히, 생체 정보 모니터링을 위한 노드들은 배터리 교체가 어렵고 따라서 한정된 배터리로 동작해야 하기 때문에 에너지 효율과 전송 효율이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 에너지 효율적인 전송을 위하여 노드의 전송해야 하는 데이터양에 따른 전송주기 조절 알고리즘을 제안한다. 또한 데이터 우선순위에 따른 전송보장을 위하여 에너지검출 구간을 추가하여 우선순위를 보장할 수 있는 구조를 제안하며, 서로 다른 전송주기를 갖는 같은 우선순위 기반 데이터 전송에서 충돌을 줄이기 위하여 전송에 실패한 노드의 우선순위를 높여줌으로써 충돌을 줄일 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘의 성능 비교를 위하여 IEEE 802.15.6 표준 Slotted Aloha 전송 방식과 비교한 결과 충돌 회피율의 상승으로 최대 채널 효율이 높아지고, 에너지 소모량이 적어지는 것을 확인하였다.

서울${\cdot}$경기와 강원지역의 잡곡밥의 섭취실태 및 만족도에 대한 조사 (A Survey on the Consumption and Satisfaction Degree of the Cooked Rice Mixed with Multi-Grain in Seoul${\cdot}$Kyeonggi and Kangwon Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the consumption and perception on the effect of cooked rice mixed with multi-grain (CR-MG). Reason for like and dislike, intake frequency and variables related with the satisfaction of CR-MG were also investigated. The data for the analysis was collected from 315 adults who were residing at Seoul${\cdot}$Kyeonggi and Kangwon area and analyzed by the SPSS 11.0 program. The result showed that 84.8% of the respondents consumed CR-MG, showing significant difference by gender and occupation (p<0.05). It also revealed that they consumed it knowing their effect, showing significant difference by all general characteristics except for resident area and BMI, respectively. Kind of multi-grain (MG) mixed with cooked rice was high in the order of SoRiTae (80.1%) > brown rice (73.4%) > black rice (72.7%) > waxy rice (61.0%), respectively. As for the mixing type of MG, 61.4% of the respondents preferred non-mixed product rather than pre-mixed product. 2 or 3 kinds were preferred numbers of MG mixed with rice, showing significant difference by age (p<0.001) and marital status(p<0.05), respectively. 59.9% of the respondents answered 'high nutritive value more than polished rice' as the major reason for like, whereas 31.3% answered 'greatly rough more than polished rice' as that for dislike, respectively. By the use of multiple regression analysis, it revealed that health was the most significant variable which affect the satisfaction of CR-MG. From these results, it was suggested that in view of the high consumption and intention to continue the intake of CR-MG, following studies should be conducted to improve the preference of CR-MG.
