기획/계획단계에서 공동주택 건축공사비 산정을 위한 프로세스에 관한 고찰 (A Study on the Process for Estimating the Construction Cost of an Apartment House in the Planning/Planning Stage)

  • Planning/planning stage Construction cost prediction is very important. In particular, flexible thinking is required to predict the construction cost by reflecting rapid market changes and current conditions. Therefore, in this study, we tried to consider the process for calculating the construction cost of an apartment house in a more accurate planning/planning stage. First, cases were collected based on the classification system by construction type. Second, the construction cost was predicted using the case-based reasoning technique. Third, the composition ratio by construction type of the most similar case was applied to the derived construction cost. Finally, the construction cost was predicted based on practical corrections reflecting the market and field conditions.

A Knowledge-based Fuzzy Multi-criteria Evaluation Model of Construction Robotic Systems

  • In recent years, construction projects have been forced to cope with lack of skilled labor and increasing hazard circumstance of human operations. A construction robotic system has been frequently accomplished as one alterative for overcoming these difficulties in increasing construction quality, enhancing productivity, and improving safety. However, while the complexity of such a system increases, there are few ways to carry out an assessment of the system. This paper introduces a knowledge-based multi-criteria decision-making process to assist decision makers in systematically evaluating an automated system for a given project and quantifying its system performance index. The model employs linguistic terms and fuzzy numbers in attempts to deal with the vagueness inherent in experts' or decision makers' subjective opinions, considering the contribution resulted from their knowledge on a decision problem. As an illustrative case, the system, called Robotic-based Construction Automation, for constructing steel erection of high-rise buildings was applied into this model. The results show the model's capacities and imply the application to other extended types of construction robotic systems.

시공단계의 사고손실 비용 기반 건설안전 위험성 평가 방안 (Construction Safety Risk Assessment Method Based on Accident Loss Cost in the Construction Phase)

  • This article proposes a method to assess construction safety risk during the construction phase based on accident loss costs. Risk assessments for hazardous construction work are required by law, but they lack quantitative criteria. To address this, a survey estimated loss costs due to fatalities in the construction industry, finding labor loss cost and delay reimbursement cost to be the largest factors. The proposed method uses algorithm to calculate expected accidents and risk levels based on project characteristics, work methods, personnel, and environment data. This method is expected to enhance the reliability and usability of risk assessments during the construction phase of construction projects.

Communication Performance of BLE-based IoT Devices and Routers for Tracking Indoor Construction Resources

  • Sensors collect information for Internet of Things (IoT)-based services. However, indoor construction sites have a poor communication environment and many interfering elements that make it difficult to collect sensor information. In this study, a network was constructed between a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-based IoT device based on a serverless IoT framework and a router. This experimental environment was applied to large- and small-scale indoor construction sites. Experiments were performed to test the communication performance of BLE-based IoT devices and routers at indoor construction sites. An analysis of the received signal strength indication (RSSI) graph patterns collected from the communication between the BLE-based IoT devices and routers for different testbed site situation revealed areas with good communication performance and poor communication performance due to interfering factors. The results confirmed that structural components of the building as well as the materials, equipment, and temporary facilities used in indoor construction interfere with the communication performance. Construction project managers will require improved technical knowledge of IoT, such as optimizing the router placement and matching communication between the router and workers, to improve the communication performance for large-scale indoor construction.

  • Capital project benchmarking requires an effective cost normalization process to compare cost performance of projects accomplished in different time and location. Existing cost normalization approaches have been established based on the assumption that all required information for cost normalization is fully identified once a project is completed. Cost normalization, however, is sometimes required to evaluate phase-level outcomes of an ongoing project where the required information is not fully available. This paper aims to provide a cost normalization procedure for phase-based performance assessment. The procedure consists of three normalization steps: currency conversion, location adjustment, and time adjustment considering various scenarios where the required information is not fully identified. This paper also presents how the cost normalization procedure has been applied to the 10-10 Performance Assessment Program, which is a phase-based performance assessment system developed by the Construction Industry Institute (CII). Both researchers and industrial professionals can apply the cost normalization procedure to studies and practices regarding to cost estimation, feasibility analysis, and performance assessment.

  • 건설실패정보는 건설실패를 야기한 업무 프로세스를 파악하고, 건설실패를 예방할 수 있는 향상된 프로세스를 제공하는 핵심 요인이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 건설실패정보를 활용하여, 건설실패의 재발을 예방할 수 있는 건설 프로세스의 지속적 개선 모델의 개념적 틀을 제시하였다. 문헌연구를 통해 건설실패의 정의, 유형, 원인 및 교훈 등의 건설실패정보에 대한 개념을 정립하였다. 또한 건설실패정보에 프로세스 재설계 방법론 및 사례기반추론기법을 적용하여 프로세스 개선에의 적용가능성을 확인하였고, 사례기반추론기법의 주요 모듈인 사례검색, 사례색인 및 사례적응을 이용한 건설 프로세스의 지속적 개선 모델의 개념적 틀을 제시하였다.

  • Estimation based on current data of construction performances have become one of the critical subjects which many researchers have been interested in for the past decades. In order to accomplish accurate measurement and estimation of construction performances, the method of data collection stands the highest priority. However, there are many difficulties in data collection from construction jobsite due to the characteristics of the construction industry. With developments of new technologies in other industries, several technologies has recently initiated to be applied to construction field. Electronic tags based on the identification technology, automatic volume measurement based on laser scanning technology, and Global Positioning System (GPS) have been represented the technologies which show the high opportunity for being used in construction. This study reviews specific aspects of these technologies focused on the utilization in construction jobsite. Also, the challenges which these technologies need to overcome are discussed.

  • 건설산업은 높은 노동의존성으로 인한 저생산성 구조를 근본적으로 가지고 있으며, 이는 건설업체들의 낮은 수익률과 영세성의 원인이 되며, 건설사업의 독특한 수행방식과 함께 기술과 경험의 축적을 어렵게 한다. 기존의 건설생산성 향상을 위한 노력은 개별 단위 작업개선에 초점이 맞춰져 있으며, 전체 건설생산 프로세스에 걸친 개선의 노력이 부족했던 경향이 있다. 특히 관리적인 측면에서의 기술력이 건설선진국에 비해 현저히 떨어지므로, 이에 대한 개선이 시급한 실정이다. 이는 건설정보의 호환성과 신뢰성 있는 도구의 부재에 의한 문제라 할 수 있으며, 한국 건설산업의 국제 경쟁력을 높이기 위해서는 시스템적 사고의 기초위에 건설생산 프로세스의 개선을 지향하고, 건설정보의 신뢰성 향상이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 웹 기반 건설정보관리시스템의 개발을 통해 시스템 구축이 미비한 중소건설업체의 관리능력향상에 기여하고자 한다.

A Construction Supply Chain Management Process with RFID/WSN-based Logistics Equipment

  • Construction supply chain management (CSCM) has become one of the critical factors that determine the success of a construction project as it becomes increasingly complicated and mega-sized. Particularly for high-rise or mega-sized building construction, just-in-time supply chain management is required due to lack of storage space and effective logistics for construction components and materials at a construction site. Despite the fact that research and development of radio frequency identification (RFID) and wireless sensor network (WSN) technology have been performed, construction project managers still need to carry mobile devices and check material and component flow at each stage of the supply chain process. This research proposes that the equipment used in the construction supply chain process, such as movers, trailers, gates, and hoists, can become main actors in the supply chain process using RFID and WSN technologies. And the proposed equipment and process focused on a solution to the redundancy identification problem, which has been observed in operations that use RFID/WSN-based processes for construction logistics. This paper also presents issues identified through verification and validation of the research results and proposes further studies.

  • 건설생산성의 혁신적 향상을 지향하는 린건설(Lean Construction) 구현을 위해 가장 시급히 개선되어야 할 사항은 건설생산 프로세스의 개선과 건설정보의 신뢰성 향상으로 정의될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 건설생산 프로세스 중 설계/시공단계에서의 개선사항을 설계관리, 자재조달관리, 공정관리 측면에서 도출하고, 각 단계에서 도출된 개선사항을 웹기반 정보시스템으로 실현하여 건설산업 종사자들에게 필요한 정보와 지식을 제공하고자 웹 기반 분산형 건설정보 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위해 건설생산 프로세스 각 단계에서의 주요 문제점을 파악하여 개선모델 및 요소기술을 제시하고, 모델의 구현을 위한 시스템 프로토타입을 개발하였다. 설계/자재조달/공정 관리지원 시스템은 웹 기반의 지식관리 시스템을 중심으로의 통합을 추진할 예정이다.
