  • This paper presents dynamic modeling and controller design of a tracked vehicle installed with the double-rod type ERSU(electro-rheological suspension unit). A 16 DOF(degree-of-freedom) model for the tracked vehicle is established by Lagrangian method. After showing the spring and damping characteristics of the proposed ERSU, equivalent 2 DOF 1/12 tracked vehicle model is then formulated by regarding the spring and viscous damping coefficients under the static state as constant values. A robust LSDP(loop-shaping design procedure) $H_{\infty}$ controller compensating spring and damping parameter variations is then designed in order to suppress unwanted vibration of the vehicle. The control responses such as vertical and pitch acceleration are presented in time domain.

  • Vibration analysis of Fine-pitch Ball Grid Array (FBGA) packages mounted on a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) subjected to harmonic excitation is performed by using finite element method (FEM). A finite element model of a memory module is composed of three main parts, packages, simplified solder balls and bare PCB. At first, natural frequencies and mode shapes of the developed model were confirmed experimentally. Secondly, the harmonic excitation experiment for the module was carried out at the first natural frequency of the memory module, and it was verified with the simulation by using mode superposition method at a constant acceleration.

  • Dynamic behavior of the molten drop during the peak period in the pulsed-GMAW is simulated in this work using the VOF(volume of the fluid) algerian. The dynamic characteristics of molten drop such as minimum radius, average velocity and displacement of mass center were computed as well as the internal pressure and velocity. The minimum and maximum peak durations for detaching a drop were calculated.. The result of Analysis reveals that peak current and volume of pendant drop are important factors which affecting drop detachment. A simplified model of constant acceleration is proposed to describe the behavior of molten drop during peak current, and its results agree with the experimental results.

  • When LIM is drived by the general purpose inverter, there is no food-back of speed and thrust, etc. Therefore, through analysis of LIM by the simulation, the prediction of operating characteristics and patterns of LIM is necessary. But, the open-loop control system is used widely, because it can consist of simple and cheap. In this paper, we foaled with the dynamic characteristics of LIM drived by V/f constant during acceleration, cruising speed deceleration. And, we compared the simulation value with actual measurement value.

  • This paper compares particle swarm optimization techniques for PV allocation planning problem in power systems. PV allocation planning problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear problem. Five variants of PSO techniques are investigated for the applicability on the PV allocation problem. Namely, PSO with constant inertia weight approach (PSO-CIW), PSO with time varying inertia weight (PSO-TVIW), PSO with random inertia weight (PSO-RIW), PSO with constriction factor (PSO-CF) and PSO with time varying acceleration coefficients (PSO-TVAC).

  • Recently, particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) analysis system was installed at the 2MV ion acceleration system in Korea institute science and technology (KIST). This installation is for complement to low atomic resolution of heavy atoms at Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) system. For quantitative analysis, a mass calibration of the PIXE set-up has been done with thin film standards and. The GUPIX software package has been used to process the PIXE spectra and the results are compared with the values from RBS system. Therefore, the instrumental constant H (solid angle and correction factor) is determined relying completely on the GUPIX data base (cross-sections, fluorescence and Coster-Kronig probabilities, stopping powers and attenuation coefficients) for a large set of elements. These H values can be used in future analysis.

  • In the present study, a mean torque predictive model has been proposed and experimentally validated. It includes induction air mass model, fuel delivery model and mean production mode. Air induction and fuel delivery model considering dynamic behaviors of air induction and fuel delivery were proposed to predict the air-fuel ratio excursions under transient condition. Torque function model reflects thermal efficiency, volumetric efficiency, friction and effect of spark timing. In the spark timing model, knock limit and acceleration retard are included. Experiments were carried out to validate the simulation model for the step changes of throttle at constant engine speed. The results show reasonable agreements between simulation and experiment at fully warmed condition. Using this model, fueling strategies are varied with fast throttle open and it can predict air-fuel ratio excursion and IMEP.

  • In this paper, fuzzy control algorithm for the speed ratio control of the electro-hydraulic rig type continuously variable transmission(CVT) was proposed and the CVT performance tests were carried out for the optimal operation of the engine simulator. The experimental results for the constant throttle and the acceleration modes showed that the engine can be run on the optimum operating line, representing the power and economy mode, by the fuzzy control of the CVT speed ratio. Comparing the PID control with the fuzzy control, it was found that the fuzzy control showed better performance with the faster rising time and smaller steady state error. The result of this study can be used as basic design materials for developing the transmission control unit of the CVT.

  • To reduce unwanted vibrations in war ship which may be transmitted through underwater path, it is required to use high damping mounts to isolate the vibration. In this work, the beam structure with squeeze mode ER mount is proposed and response characteristics such as acceleration and force transmissibility of beam with constant voltage and optimal controller are experimentally analyzed. The controller is empirically realized and control responses are evaluated in frequency domains. Experiments show vibration reduction capability of squeeze mode ER mount.

  • The delay on two-lane, Two-way roads is a very important factor which tends to cause relatively high driver loads and too much delay often leads to traffic accidents. In this study a generalized form of delay estimation model was developed based on constant slow moving vehicle speeds, 100% no-passing zone, and flat terrain highway sections. To validate the model, a comparison was made with John Morrall's SMV(Slow Moving Vehicle)model as well as with TWOPAS model. Also a sensitivity analysis was performed to check accuracy of the model. It was found that the model was easy to apply and yet provided reasonable results for experimental conditions specified in the study. It was recommended that speed calculation procedure of the model be improved by further studies, so that the effect of speed acceleration or deceleration according to highway geometries on delay could be analyzed more accurately.
