  • Due to the measurement noise or system noise, the performance of photovoltaic power generation system can be degraded. If this noise is contained in the solar array voltage measurement signal, the correct operation of the maximum power point tracker can not be guaranteed. The application of the extended Kalman filter to the photovoltaic system can obtain enhanced states estimation result. The Kalman filter provides a recursive solution to optimally estimate from random noise signals. Additionally, as a consequence of Kalman filter, the unmeasurable state such as inductor current can be estimated without current sensor. The methods for system modeling and extended Kalman filter design are presented and the experimental results verify the validity of the proposed system.

  • Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) is the primary mitral valve (MV) pathology in the aftermath of myocardial infarction as a consequence of regional left ventricular (LV) remodeling. We investigated the effect of asymmetric papillary muscle (PM) displacement and annular dilation on IMR development. Virtual MV modeling was performed to create a normal human MV. Asymmetric PM displacement, asymmetric annular dilation, and the combination of these two pathologic characteristics were modeled. Dynamic finite element evaluation of MV function was performed across the complete cardiac cycle for the normal and three different IMR MV models. While the normal MV demonstrated complete leaflet coaptation, each pathologic MV model clearly revealed deteriorated leaflet coaptation and abnormal stress distributions. The pathologic MV model having both asymmetric PM displacement and annular dilation showed the worst leaflet malcoaptation. Simulation-based biomechanical evaluation of post-ischemic LV remodeling provides an excellent tool to better understand the pathophysiologic mechanism of IMR development.

  • In the multimedia age, the development of Internet/Intranet circumstances makes Required Traffic per user be gradually larger. And the more demand getting many pieces of information quickly increases, the more required the rapid network is as a necessary consequence. This is why we need the advanced Ethernet. Gigabit Ethernet has many advantages in many respects. For example, it increases the capacity of network and makes network highly efficient in the existing Ethernet circumstance. Thus, Gigabit Ethernet becomes a counterproposal that can resolve Required Traffic per internet user. Present study inquires the concepts and the characteristics connected with Gigabit Ethernet Technology and analyses the Link efficiency with a hypothetical modeling.

  • In order to optimize fuzzy modeling of nonlinear system, we proposed a optimal fuzzy model according to the characteristic of I/O relationship, HCM method, the genetic algorithm, and the objective function with weighting factor. A conventional fuzzy model has difficulty in definition of membership function. In order to solve its problem, the premise structure of the proposed fuzzy model is selected by both the partition of input space and the analysis of input-output relationship using the clustering algorithm. The premise parameters of the fuzzy model are optimized respectively by the genetic algorithm and the consequence parameters of the fuzzy model are identified by the standard least square method. Also, the objective function with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between the performance results for the training and testing data.

  • Excessive rainfall can cause runoff flows over the soil surface and as a consequence some amount of water will infiltrate into the soil. From a hydrologic modeling perspective it is necessary to estimate infiltration rate in order to calculate the actual runoff discharge. There are many parameters that can affect the infiltration rate such as soil texture, moisture and compaction. However, the most common equations used in hydrological calculations for estimating the infiltration rate do not consider the soil properties directly and estimate infiltration rate without any soil properties expressions. The purpose of this research was to investigate the relations between infiltration rate and soil texture, moisture and compaction. To achieve this purpose an experimental study was performed to show the effect of soil properties and their relations on infiltration rate by using non-linear regression.

  • Recently, it has demanded high-speed digital circuits as information increase. Therefore, electromagnetic characteristics of compact microwave circuit occurred importantly. And, the effect of the imperfect ground plane on the signal integrity and influence of coupling between two parallel lines for high-speed digital transmission line on the printed circuit board is investigated by FDTD simulations in 3-D electromagnetic analysis method. The results of FDTD simulation are compared with the ADS simulation in commercial software, analyzed lumped element of modeling and electromagnetic wave's radiation of slot as frequency. As a consequence, when the slot in the ground plane is under microstrip line, it has much effect on propagation of wave.

  • This paper deals with the frequency-dependent ground impedance of ground grids combined with the carbon ground electrodes. Ground grids are generally valid for multipurpose grounding systems as well as lightning protection systems. The carbon ground electrodes may be supplementarily used to reduce the high frequency ground impedance and to improve the transient response to surge currents. The frequency-dependent ground impedances of ground grids combined with or without the carbon ground electrodes were measured and their simulations with due regard to frequency-dependent soil resistivity were implemented by using EMTP program and Matlab modeling. As a consequence, the ground impedance of ground grids combined with the carbon ground electrodes is significantly reduced when the test current is injected at the terminal of the carbon ground electrode. The measured and simulated data for the test ground grids fairly agree with each other. It was found that the proposed method of simulating the frequency-dependent ground impedance is distinguished. The simulation techniques of predicting accurately the ground impedances without actual measurements can be used in the design of grounding systems based on ground grids and the carbon ground electrodes.

  • The study is concerned with an approach to the design of a new category of fuzzy neural networks. The proposed Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks(FPNN) with hybrid multi-layer inference architecture is based on fuzzy neural networks(FNN) and polynomial neural networks(PNN) for model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. The one and the other are considered as premise and consequence part of FPNN respectively. We introduce two kinds of FPNN architectures, namely the generic and advanced types depending on the connection points (nodes) of the layer of FNN. Owing to the specific features of two combined architectures, it is possible to consider the nonlinear characteristics of process and to get output performance with superb predictive ability. The availability and feasibility of the FPNN is discussed and illustrated with the aid of two representative numerical examples. The results show that the proposed FPNN can produce the model with higher accuracy and predictive ability than any other method presented previously.

  • A new medal is presented in order to evaluate the risk from a nuclear facility following accidents directly combining the on-site meteorological data using the Monte Carlo Method. To estimate the radiological detriment to the surrounding population-at-large (collective dose equivalent), in this study the probability distribution of each meteorological element based upon on-site data is analyzed to generate atmospheric dispersion conditions. The random sampling is used to select the dispersion conditions at any given time of effluent releases. In this study it is considered that the meteorological conditions such as wind direction, speed and stability are mutually independent and each condition satisfies the Markov condition. As a sample study, the risk of KNU-1 following the large LOCA was calculated, The calculated collective dose equivalent in the 50 mile region population from the large LOCA with 50 percent confidence level is 2.0$\times$10$^2$ man-sievert.

  • In the era of industry 4.0 with the robust digital transformation, especially under the trigger of the Covid-19 pandemic, the process of transforming businesses to achieve the desired business performance depends much on the mindset transformation of each member of the organization, beginning with the thoughts of leadership and stakeholders. This study will evaluate the relationship between leadership's strategic reasoning perspectives on employee engagement or commitment and the company's reputation, thereby directly or indirectly affecting organizational performance. The study examines data from 382 companies out of 500 samples in typical industries in Vietnam using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques. The results show that holistic thinking is closely related to employee retention and corporate reputation, thereby increasing the business outcomes of the organization, whereas there was no evidence to support analytical thinking in this study. As a consequence, transforming the business to achieve the desired business performance is heavily reliant on changing the mindset of each member of the organization, beginning with the top leaders and influencers of the business. This will assist Vietnamese leaders in gaining a comprehensive understanding of corporate governance and controlling the relationships between organizational constructs.
