What strategies are used to help students understand quadratic functions in mathematics classroom? In specific, how does Chinese teacher highlight a connection between algebraic representation and graphic representation? From October to November 2009, an experienced teacher classroom was observed. It was found that when students started learning a new type of quadratic function in lessons, the teacher used two different teaching strategies for their learning: (1) Eliciting students to plot the graphs of quadratic functions with pointwise approaches, and then construct the function image in their minds with global approaches; and (2) Presenting a specific mathematical problem, or introducing conception to elicit students to conjecture, and then encouraging them to verify it with appoint approaches.
This study analyzed the process of establishing a social structure in a third-grade mathematics classroom for one semester and explored learning processes based on various social interactions and relationships between the teacher and students. In the early phase of the semester, main foci were placed on establishing an overall social norms and basic social structure for effective mathematical learning. In the middle phase of the semester, an emphasis among students' interactions was given to exploration of mathematical concepts. Students tended to ask whatever they did not know exactly and clearly understood what to explain. In the late phase of the semester, students' individual disposition was further considered. Disciplinary personality traits including intellectual courage, honesty, consideration, and cooperation were emphasized along with mathematical exploration. Based on these research results, this study was intended to provide implications for implementing more meaningful mathematics lessons by fully considering not only mathematical connections but also social connections.
This research is the case study of collaborative mentoring in the professional development of multi-tiered mathematics teacher community. We observed the procedures of mentoring, and contents of mentoring in PD program. For this purpose, we implemented PD program with participant unit composed of 3 or 4 teachers in the same school and total 25 teachers from 4 elementary schools and 4 high schools. Also there were 1 mentor and 1 sub-mentor to support each school. Observed mentoring processes were all recorded and the participants not only were interviewed several times but also wrote reflection notes after meetings. While mentoring PD program was implemented, mentor and mentee had joint responsibility about lessons implemented by mentee. Furthermore It showed possibility of change of teacher learning culture, learning culture of community. It means that teacher would improve their professionalism more effectively within teacher community instead of individual. 4 reflection contents was founded in collaborative mentring; 1)purpose of mathematics education, 2)motivation and connection between previous lecture and present lecture 3)lack of mathematical contents in lesson 4)discourse between teacher and students.

Teacher quality is a topic of international concern, as it impacts student learning and teacher preparation. This study compared the undergraduate secondary science teacher preparation programs from two universities in Korea with those of Oregon, USA. We examined the programs' structural curricular coherence, conceptual curricular coherence, and curricular balance. Structural curricular coherence was determined by examining the overarching goals of the institutions' programs, the organization of the programs of study in terms of meeting those goals, and outside bodies of evidence. All universities were in structural coherence for various reasons. Conceptual curricular coherence was determined by examining students' perceptions of the connection between their preparation and their clinical practice. In case of Korea, most students from both universities were not satisfied with their practical preparation. In the US, the students from both institutions felt well prepared to transition to inservice teaching. To determine curricular balance, we examined the institutions' preparation programs looking at the credit hours taken in the four main areas of the teacher knowledge base: GPK (General Pedagogical Knowledge), SMK (Subject Matter Knowledge), PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge), and CK (Contextual Knowledge). The total credit hours taken in each category was very similar by country but the application and field component in the USA was far greater than those of Korea where the focus was heavily on SMK and PCK. The main reason for these may be the nations' licensing and employment processes.
Given the importance of mathematical connections in instruction, this paper analyzed the objects and the methods of mathematical connections according to the lesson flow featured in 20 elementary lessons selected as effective instructional methods by local educational offices in Korea. Mathematical connections tended to occur mainly in the introduction, the first activity, and the sum-up period of each lesson. The connection between mathematical concept and procedure was the most popular followed by the connection between concept and real-life context. The most prevalent method of mathematical connections was through communication, specifically the communication between the teacher and students, followed by representation. Overall it seems that the objects and the methods of mathematical connections were diverse and prevalent, but the detailed analysis of such cases showed the lack of meaningful connection. These results urge us to investigate reasons behind these seemingly good features but not-enough connections, and to suggest implications for well-connected mathematics teaching.

This study analyzed the cases of three teacher communities participating in an innovative professional development program and clarified the characteristics and the process of lessons for mathematics-oriented convergence that were developed and applied during the program. Each of the teacher communities designed and implemented lessons according to the context of each community and the concept of lessons for mathematics-oriented convergence were developed and refined. The lessons developed by the three teacher communities were characterized as convergence problem posing lessons using technology, convergence of various subject content focused on mathematical concepts through team teaching, and convergence lessons according to students' achievement levels. The program contributed to teacher community activities by proving sustainable professional development in the area of convergence education, a connection between the content of their professional development and the context of the field, and opportunities for active participation in the process of developing and implementing the convergence lessons.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematical connection components of the tasks included in the trigonometric ratio unit of 3rd grade middle school textbook based on the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum and investigate teachers' perceptions and practical measures regarding these components. To this end, we analyzed the characteristics of mathematical connection tasks included in the trigonometric ratio units in nine types of 3rd grade middle school mathematics textbooks, and we conducted a questionnaire survey and interviews with one in-service math teachers in pre interview and with two in-service math teachers in this interview to investigate their perceptions and practical measures. As a result of the study, the number of tasks with external connection in the trigonometric ratio unit were less than those of internal connection. In addition, in terms of teachers' perceptions and practical measures, the perspective of analyzing tasks with mathematical connections varied depending on the teacher's perspective, and the practical measures varied accordingly. These findings are significant in that they reveal the relationship between mathematical tasks, teacher perceptions and measures to foster effectively students' mathematical connections.
Clothing is considered as a means of self-projection in the childhood and children show clear preference on their own favorite clothing on which their latent identity is reflected. Changing sex-role identity, in particular, in the modern complex society specially affects the clothing behavior of children. The purpose of this study is to investigate the clothing behavior of children in conjunction with sen-role identity and home environment variables. This study will provide fundamental information on the clothing behavior in the childhood and be of help in selecting appropriate clothing in accordance with the variation of sex-role identity. Necessary information for this study was obtained through a questionaire. 'Bem sex-role identity inventory' was used to investigate the effect of sex-role identity and the clothing behavior was studied in conjunction with the factors of conformity, dependence, aesthetics and interest. The subjects of investigation are composed of three hundred male and female elementary school students in the 5th and 6th grades. For the statistical analysis of the collected data, percentage(%), mean value(M), standard deviation(SD) and Pearson's correlation coefficient were calculated and t-test, $x^2$-test, and Duncan's multiple range test were performed. The results form this study are as follows : 1. Sex-role identity shows a little difference according to gender, order of a birth and standard of living. This small difference is shown to be statistically insignificant. 2. In clothing behavior in connection with the sex-role identity, statistically significant trend was not found in typical sex-role identity group. However, clothing behavior in modernistic sex-role identity group exhibits statistically significant results in the factors of dependence, aesthetics and interest at the level of P<.001. 3. As concerns the clothing behavior in connection with gender, boy students show statistically more significant tendency in aesthetics and interest than girls do. However, boy students show statistically more significant tendency in aesthetics than girls do in connection with the standard of living. Although the clothing behavior associated with the level of parents education, mother's age and existence of mother's job shows a little difference in mean values, statistically significant trend was not detected. 4. Clothing behavior of the children shows a meaningful correlation between the factors. 5. Through 3-dimensional variables analysis, it is found that there is no mutual interaction between gender, sex-role identity and standard of living on the clothing behavior. The results from MCA supplementary analysis reveal that there is difference according to the gender, sex-role identity and standard of living.

The recent increase in preference for teacher jobs has led to a rise in preference for education colleges. Not all students can enter teachers, but they must pass the test called the competitive examination for teacher appointment candidates after graduation. However, due to the declining population, the and employment T.O.s are decreasing every year and the competition rate is rising steeply. Therefore, in order to concentrate on the recruitment exam upon entering the university, the university is becoming a huge academy for the exam, not a place to study and learn. We found a connection between students' overall school life and their use of study groups as well as their grades and whether they passed the competition test for teachers using deep running. The academic activities did not significantly affect the acceptance process, and the accuracy of the prediction of the acceptance rate was generally 70% accurate.

In line with the recent job insecurity, the preference for teaching jobs has been increasing for private and educational colleges. However, the T.O., announced by the Ministry of Education in tandem with the decreasing number of people, is decreasing every year, while the competition rate is rising steeply due to the increase in the number of students. As a result, the university is becoming a huge hagwon for teacher-nominee competitive tests as it tries to concentrate on the recruitment exam at the same time as entering the university. In this study, we will present a blueprint for school life to students enrolled in private universities by identifying the connection between the overall use of school life and study groups by students using deep learning.
