CAD/CAM 시스템을 활용한 커넥팅 로드 금형의 제작 (Manufacturing of Connecting Rod Die using CAD/CAM Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 자동차용 부품인 커넥팅 로드를 제작할 수 있는 금형제작시 생산성 향상을 위해서 CAD/CAM 시스템을 적용하였다. 사용된 CAD 소프트웨어는 MDT4.0. CAM 소프트웨어는 Z-MASTER이며 생성된 NC코드는 CNC 밀링머신에 전송되어 커렉팅 로드 금형을 자동가공 한다.

  • In this paper, we apply a forging simulator to automatic simulation of a connecting-rod forging process and compare its results with others found in the literature. The process information comes from the distributed examples of DEFORM3D. The process is fully automatically simulated using the tetrahedral element capability of AFDEX3D, developed by the authors. Our results are compared with the results found from the related literature, already simulated using DEFORM3D by other researchers. The comparison shows that our results are relatively excellent especially in terms of mesh quality on which the solution accuracy depends mainly.

커넥팅로드용 핀부시의 윤활특성 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Oil Lubrication Characteristics of Pin Bush for a Connecting Rod)

  • In this paper, the hydrodynamic pressure and minimum oil film thickness of a pin bush bearing for a connecting rod have been analyzed as functions of the number of oil grooves and an arc length of oil grooves. The lubrication characteristic of a pin bush is governed by oil groove design factors, which are considered in this study. The most influential design parameter is a number of oil grooves, which is three oil grooves with an arc length of oil groove, 1/6($60^{\circ}$). This means that oil groove with a long arc length of a pin bush does not contribute to the hydrodynamic pressure development. Thus the optimal design of a pin bush is necessary with an increased number of oil grooves and a reduced arc length.

분말컨넥팅로드 단조의 유한 요소 해석 (Finite Element Analysis of P/M Connecting Rod Forging)

  • Sintered P/M connecting rod is forged to increase density and to satisfy dimensional specifications. Flow of the materials is different form that of wrought materials due to pores in the preform. The Mises yield function was modified to. include the first invariant of stress tensor, and the associated flow rule was derived by applying the normality rule to the yield function. Axisymmetric and plane-strain finite element analyes were carried out for the ring and beam portions of the connecting rod, respectively. The flow of the preform and density change of the analysis are presented in this paper. A load-stroke curve was also presented by superimposing analysis results for the ring and beam portions.

소결분말 콘넥팅로드 단조의 예비성형체 설계 (Preform Design for Forging of a PIM Connecting Rod)

  • Powder forging is a combined technology of powder metallurgy and precision hot forging. Recently, the technology is developing rapidly because of its economic merits, especially in automotive part manufacturing. In the present study, the finite element technique was developed to predict density variation during P/M forging and the technique was applied to analysis of forging of a P/M connecting rod. Although deformation mode of the connecting rod was quite complex, several sections were selected and analyzed under an assumption of asymmetric or plane strain deformation. It was found that some modifications were necessary on the cross section of the beam portion. Therefore, the cross section was modified repeatedly until a satisfactory result of the analysis was obtained. On the other hand, no modifications were necessary in the ring and the pin portions. It is anticipated that the developed technique can be used to optimize preform design and manufacturing processes in P/M forging, which are highly critical to produce successful products in practice.

  • The mobility method is used for optimizing dynamically-loaded journal bearings. Connecting -rod bearings in both diesel and gasoline engines are optimized by parametric studies of bearing span and clearance. The inertia effect of the connecting-rod is also included in this study. Minimum film thickness, maximum film pressure, and friction loss are calculated to satisfy the design conditions in both engines.

  • Two kinds of crankshaft oil supply system which were called continuous and discontinuous oil sup-ply system have recently been adopted in engine developing process. In order to clarify the lubrication characteristics for theses systems, in this paper, the comparison studies on supplied oil temperature, pressure, aspect ratio of bearings, and radial clearance were carried out for the main and the connecting rod bearing using computational fluid dynamic analysis.

  • The motion of dynamically loaded journal in the connecting rod big-end bearings is considered and then equations of motion are derived. Dynamical characteristics of big-end bearings are derived by perturbation method and linearized spring and damping coefficients are calculated. Numerical intergrations of equations of motion ure performed by $\rho$-family method. This paper gives various journal orbits in a big-end bearing depending on external force cycle and bearing parameters
