Electronic learning(or e-learning) has created hype for companies, universities, and other educational institutions. It has led to the phenomenal growth in the use of web-based learning and experimentation with multimedia, video conferencing, and internet-based technologies. Many researchers are interested in the factors that affect to the performance of e-learning or e-learning services. In this sense, this study is aimed at proposing e-learning system reuse prediction models in which e-learner intention to reuse influence factors(i.e., system accessibility, system stability, information clarity, information validity, self-regulated efficacy, computer self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, flow, and parental expectation) affect e-learner intention to reuse positively. A web survey was conducted for the full members of the e-learning education institute A in Seoul, Republic of Korea, an exclusive e-learning company that provides real time video lectures via the desktop conferencing system. The web survey was conducted for 20 days from November 5, 2009, through the e-learning web site of the company A. In this study, three data mining techniques were used : the multivariate discriminant analysis, CART, and C5.0 algorithm. This study was conducted to provide the e-learning service providers, e-learning operators, and contents developers with marketing and management strategies for improving the e-learning service companies, based on the data mining analysis results.

For communication between heterogeneous conference systems, it is important to build a conference control protocol independent from signaling protocols. We simulate an XML-based conference control that is under consideration as a standard mechanism. We describe the framework and operations for easy implementation in heterogeneous conference systems. The simulation results show that the proposed control protocol provides a consistent service for an increasing number of conferences and participants in small to mid-size centralized conferencing.

In this paper, we present an intensive patient monitoring service through the Internet, which enables medical doctors to watch their patients in a remote site, to monitor their vital signs and to give them some advices for first-aid treatment. The service consists of three service objects: Monitoring Information Service(MIS), Vital Sign Monitoring Service(VSMS) and Multimedia Consulting (MCS). Through the MIS, medical doctors can get information about the patients currently under monitoring, including their names, ages, genders, symptoms, current main complaints and current locations. The VSMS enables medical doctors to monitor in real-time patients' vital signs such as electrocardiogram (ECG), respiration, temperature, blood oxygen saturation (SpO$_{2}$), invasive blood pressure (IBP), and non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP). It also generates alarms when the patients are likely to be in a critical situation. The MCS provides a real-time multimedia desktop conferencing facility for watching patients and instructing attendants to administer some first-aid treatment. We carried out some experiments according to two different scenarios. The intensive patient monitoring service was functioning well in a 100Base-T Ethernet LAN environment.

코로나 바이러스로 인해 가속화 된 언택트(Untact)시대가 도래함에 따라, 소통과 관계 맺기의 한계를 극복하기 위해 여러 종류의 화상회의 서비스가 도입되어 사용되고 있다. 이러한 서비스를 통해 팬데믹 확산이 지연되고 소통의 원활함을 가져왔지만, 한편으로는 '화상회의 피로감'을 호소하는 사용자들이 증가했다. 이에 따라, 본 연구는 사용자들의 화상회의 피로감을 유발하는 세부 요인을 밝히고, 더 나아가 화상회의 피로감 요인이 사용자의 전반적인 피로감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 집단 면접과 설문 조사를 실시하여 4가지 주요 요인(비대면 소통의 한계, 이용방법의 어려움, 주변 환경 정비, 집중에 대한 부담)을 추출하였고, 이 중 비대면 소통의 한계 요인과 주변 환경 정비에 대한 부담 요인이 사용자의 전반적 피로감에 정적 영향을 미치는 것을 밝혔다. 본 연구를 통해, 현재 새로운 화상회의 서비스의 주사용자로 자리 잡은 20대가 느끼는 실질적인 피로감의 요인을 조명 할 수 있었으며, 이러한 요인들을 바탕으로 서비스의 세부 기능들을 보완 및 개발하는 실무적 의의 또한 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

최근 들어 인터넷은 화상회의, 인터넷방송, 네트워크게임 등과 같은 광대역, 멀티미디어 서비스가 요구되는 멀티캐스트 서비스로 발전되고 있다. 이러한 광대역의 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 많은 대역폭이 요구되므로 현재 망의 대안으로 WDM 방송망이 대두되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서 WDM 방송망 구조에서 멀티캐스트 서비스를 제공하기 위한 스케줄링 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 기존의 스케줄링 알고리즘에 비해 적은 수의 서브 그룹수와 짧은 지연시간을 보임을 확인하였다.

ITU-T recommends T.120 for multimedia conferencing data protocols. In this paper, generic model of application protocols is shown for guaranteeting internetworking between application protocols in application users. And using generic conference control and multipoint communication service, multipoint binary file transfer application protocol is shown throughout application protocol generic model on public session environment.

영상회의 시스템을 인터넷상에서 다양하게 사용하려는 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 이런 부분의 연구는 오디오, 비디오 압축기법, 멀티미디어 데이터의 동기화, 다자간의 영상회의를 지원하기위한 IP multicast의 Mbone의 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있고, 통신의 회선속도가 고속화됨에 따라 인터넷에서 영상을 통한 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스가 이루어지고 있다. 개방형 분산 인터넷 통신망 환경에서의 영상회의는 영상회의 데이터인 영상 및 음성보안에 대한 문제가 심각하게 대두된다. 본 논문에서는 영상회의에서 멀티미디어 데이터의 특성에 따른 보안 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

In this paper, we propose a real time video codec adapter for enabling video communications with terminals having a codec which is different from each other. When multimedia services are playing with an office service phone such as a video phone or software phone which has video capability, each terminal is not being considered to have optimized video or voice codec. So when a video phone with only one type of video codec is used in the video streaming service which requires another type of codec, the streaming service is not successful without codec transformation. The real time codec adapter in this paper provides a real time code transformation which enables communication services such as video conferencing between terminals which have different codec.

무선 통신의 발전으로 인하여 PDA, 휴대전화 등의 이동기기를 위한 멀티미디어 서비스의 개발 또한 빠르게 발전하고 있다. 이러한 모바일 멀티미디어 서비스의 개발에는 모바일 컴퓨팅의 요구조건을 효율적으로 제어할 수 있는 플랫폼이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 통신의 잦은 통신단절과 모바일 디바이스의 시스템 자원부족에 대응하기 위하여 모바일 에이전트 기반의 그리드 시스템을 사용하는 적응형 서비스 플랫폼을 제시하고, 서비스 플랫폼의 활용예로 모바일 원격 교육 또는 화상 회의에 사용되는 RtoA (Ready-to-Attend) 프레임워크를 구성하였다. RtoA는 사용자들에게 원활한 유비쿼터스 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 그리드 시스템을 이용한 핸드오프, 스피커, 리스너 서비스를 제공한다. ns-2를 이용한 성능평가의 결과 RtoA는 모바일 디바이스의 에너지 소모량을 줄이고, 응답시간을 향상시키는데 효율적임이 증명되었다.

KIPS is a net-world, cyberspace for scholars in Public Administration and Policy Sciences in WWW. All knowledge-intensive work has its core the publishing and debating of document. We have created a cyber forum for that work KIPS Cyber Forum has adapted ‘D3E’, the web-tool kit for non-technical users to easily debate and publish documents that exploit to the full networked interactive web media. And, for real-time communication, we added it the voice conferencing system. KIPS has opened Cyber Forum service in November 1998. The visitors on KWS Cyber Forum are increasingly growing, but the participants on the debate are a few. This means that the problems of Cyber Forum Service are not technical, but participation. The result imply that, at now, high participation of scholars on the debate is needed, at first, by the detailed guides for internet, www and relevant technical information. After that more expertly designed interface is to be important.
