Studies on the Optimal Location of Retail Store Considering the Obstacle and the Obstacle-Overcoming Point

  • Studies on the optimal location of retail store have been made in case of no obstacle(Minagawa etal. 1999). This paper deals with the location problem of retail store considering obstacles (e.g. rivers, railways, highways, etc.) and obstacle-overcoming points (e.g. bridges, railway crossings, zebra crossings, overpasses, etc.). We assume that (1) commercial goods dealt here are typically convenience goods, (2) the population is granted as potential demand, (3) the apparent demand is a function of the maximum migration length and the distance from the store to customers, (4) the scale of a store is same in every place and (5) there is no competitor. First, we construct the basic model of customers' behavior considering obstacles and obstacle-overcoming points. Analyzing the two dimensional model, the arbitrary force attracting customers is represented as a height of a cone where the retail store is located on the center. Second, we formulate the total demand of customers and determine the optimal location that maximizes the total demand. Finally, the properties of the optimal location are investigated by simulation.

Numerical Simulations of Dry and Wet Deposition over Simplified Terrains

  • To evaluate the deposition amount on a ground surface, mesoscale numerical models coupled with atmospheric chemistry are widely used for larger horizontal domains ranging from a few to several hundreds of kilometers; however, these models are rarely applied to high-resolution simulations. In this study, the performance of a dry and wet deposition model is investigated to estimate the amount of deposition via computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models with high grid resolution. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations are implemented for a cone and a two-dimensional ridge to estimate the dry deposition rate, and a constant deposition velocity is used to obtain the dry deposition flux. The results show that the dry deposition rate of RANS generally corresponds to that observed in wind-tunnel experiments. For the wet deposition model, the transport equation of a new scalar concentration scavenged by rain droplets is developed and used instead of the scalar concentration scavenged by raindrops falling to the ground surface just below the scavenging point, which is normally used in mesoscale numerical models. A sensitivity analysis of the proposed wet deposition procedure is implemented. The result indicates the applicability of RANS for high-resolution grids considering the effect of terrains on the wet deposition.

FT-IR과 FED를 이용한 건축 재료의 연소독성평가에 관한 연구 (A Research for Assessment Fire Toxic Gas of Construction Material Using FT-IR and FED)

  • 본 연구에서는 건축물 내장 재료에 대한 연소독성평가와 독성지수연구로써 FT-IR을 이용한 연소가스 분석실험을 하였다. 독성지수를 산정하기 위한 실험의 화재모델로 콘 칼로리미터 화재모델(KS F ISO/TR 9122-4)을 사용하였으며 ISO 19702의 절차에 따라 FT-IR을 이용하여 건축 재료의 연소로부터 발생되는 가스의 분석을 수행하였다. 국제규격에서 제시하고 있는 몇 가지 독성지수 산정법 중 ISO 13344에서 규정하는 방법에 따라 FED 값을 산정하였으며, 30분간 시험동물에 노출 시 대상의 50 %가 사망하는 농도인 $LC_{50}$을 기준으로 하여 3가지 재료의 독성지수화를 통해 상대적인 독성 위험도를 평가하였다. 그 결과로 0.025~0.285의 FED가 산출되었으며 우레탄에서는 HCN이 검출되었다.

Wavelet analysis of soil-structure interaction effects on seismic responses of base-isolated nuclear power plants

  • Seismic base isolation has been accepted as one of the most popular design procedures to protect important structures against earthquakes. However, due to lack of information and experimental data the application of base isolation is quite limited to nuclear power plant (NPP) industry. Moreover, the effects of inelastic behavior of soil beneath base-isolated NPP have raised questions to the effectiveness of isolation device. This study applies the wavelet analysis to investigate the effects of soil-structure interaction (SSI) on the seismic response of a base-isolated NPP structure. To evaluate the SSI effects, the NPP structure is modelled as a lumped mass stick model and combined with a soil model using the concept of cone models. The lead rubber bearing (LRB) base isolator is used to adopt the base isolation system. The shear wave velocity of soil is varied to reflect the real rock site conditions of structure. The comparison between seismic performance of isolated structure and non-isolated structure has drawn. The results show that the wavelet analysis proves to be an efficient tool to evaluate the SSI effects on the seismic response of base-isolated structure and the seismic performance of base-isolated NPP is not sensitive to the effects in this case.

Estimation and Validation of Taper Equations for Three Major Coniferous Species in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang Provinces of South Korea

  • This study was carried out to estimate the parameters of stem taper functions, to figure out the best taper model by species, and to compare with previous studies by species, targeting on the stemmed tree samples collected from the Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora), Korean white pine (Pinus koraiensis), and Japanese larch (Larix kaempferi ) stands in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang provinces of South Korea. The seven widely used models were applied in this study, and Muhairwe 1999 model for Korean red pine and Korean white pine and Kozak 2002 model for Japanese larch were evaluated as the best model for each species according to the fit statistics and the predicted stem form comparison. In addition, the predicted diameter was suitably fitted when comparing the previous studies, and the values were more appropriate following stem taper according to neiloid, paraboloid, and cone parts by species. Consequently, the estimation of this study was considered to represent the stem taper well. When comparing stem taper of three species, the diameter was largest in Korean white pine. Overall, the taper models of this study are judged to be useful for estimating stem form and volume computation of Korean red pine, Korean white pine, and Japanese larch.

준 1차원 모델을 적용한 이중연소 램제트 해석 (Analysis of Dual Combustion Ramjet Using Quasi 1D Model)

  • Taylor-Maccoll 유동관계식과 준 1차원 모델을 적용한 구성품 기반의 이중램제트 추진기관 모델 개발에 대해 기술하였다. 이중램제트 흡입구는 Taylor Maccoll 유동관계식을 적용하여 콘 각도 $25^{\circ}$ 형상을 갖는 흡입구에 대해 아음속 및 초음속 흡입구 모델을 구현하였으며 예 연소가스를 초음속 연소기로 전달하는 기능의 가스발생기는 Lumped 모델을 적용하여 모델을 구현하였고 요구되는 노즐목 크기에 대해 기술하였다. 초음속 연소기의 경우 준 1차원 모델을 적용하여 위치에 따른 마하수 변화, 온도변화 및 압력변화 등을 제시하였다. 또한 금번 모델을 이용하여 당량비 및 압력회복율을 고려한 연료량 조절모델에 따른 추력과 비추력을 계산하여 그 결과를 제시하였다.

Dental age estimation using the pulp-to-tooth ratio in canines by neural networks

  • Purpose: It has been proposed that using new prediction methods, such as neural networks based on dental data, could improve age estimation. This study aimed to assess the possibility of exploiting neural networks for estimating age by means of the pulp-to-tooth ratio in canines as a non-destructive, non-expensive, and accurate method. In addition, the predictive performance of neural networks was compared with that of a linear regression model. Materials and Methods: Three hundred subjects whose age ranged from 14 to 60 years and were well distributed among various age groups were included in the study. Two statistical software programs, SPSS 21 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) and R, were used for statistical analyses. Results: The results indicated that the neural network model generally performed better than the regression model for estimation of age with pulp-to-tooth ratio data. The prediction errors of the developed neural network model were acceptable, with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 4.40 years and a mean absolute error (MAE) of 4.12 years for the unseen dataset. The prediction errors of the regression model were higher than those of the neural network, with an RMSE of 10.26 years and a MAE of 8.17 years for the test dataset. Conclusion: The neural network method showed relatively acceptable performance, with an MAE of 4.12 years. The application of neural networks creates new opportunities to obtain more accurate estimations of age in forensic research.

Reproducibility of the sella turcica landmark in three dimensions using a sella turcica-specific reference system

  • Purpose: This study was performed to assess the reproducibility of identifying the sella turcica landmark in a three-dimensional (3D) model by using a new sella-specific landmark reference system. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two cone-beam computed tomographic scans (3D Accuitomo$^{(R)}$ 170, J. Morita, Kyoto, Japan) were retrospectively collected. The 3D data were exported into the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine standard and then imported into the Maxilim$^{(R)}$ software (Medicim NV, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium) to create 3D surface models. Five observers identified four osseous landmarks in order to create the reference frame and then identified two sella landmarks. The x, y, and z coordinates of each landmark were exported. The observations were repeated after four weeks. Statistical analysis was performed using the multiple paired t-test with Bonferroni correction (intraobserver precision: p<0.005, interobserver precision: p<0.0011). Results: The intraobserver mean precision of all landmarks was <1 mm. Significant differences were found when comparing the intraobserver precision of each observer (p<0.005). For the sella landmarks, the intraobserver mean precision ranged from $0.43{\pm}0.34mm$ to $0.51{\pm}0.46mm$. The intraobserver reproducibility was generally good. The overall interobserver mean precision was <1 mm. Significant differences between each pair of observers for all anatomical landmarks were found (p<0.0011). The interobserver reproducibility of sella landmarks was good, with >50% precision in locating the landmark within 1 mm. Conclusion: A newly developed reference system offers high precision and reproducibility for sella turcica identification in a 3D model without being based on two-dimensional images derived from 3D data.

  • 본 연구는 호프 주산지인 강원도 횡성에서 호프 발육기 동안의 기상요소 변화에 따른 $\alpha$-acid 함량 예측모형을 작성하고, $\alpha$-acid 생성에 관여하는 기상요소를 구명하고자 1978년부터 1986년까지 9개년 간의 연평균 $\alpha$-acid 함량과 발육단계별 기상요소를 분석 검토한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. $\alpha$-acid 함량 예측을 위하여 선택된 기상요소는 화아분화기(5월 21일~6월 20일)의 최고기온, 개화기(6월 11일~7월 10일)의 최고기온, 일조시수 그리고 강수량, 구화형성기(7월 21일~8월 20일) 최고기온이었다. 2. 개화기의 일조시수(X$_1$), 개화기의 최고기온(X$_3$), 개화분화기의 최고기온(X$_4$), 개화기의 강수량(X$_{5}$), 그리고 구화성숙기의 최고기온(X$_{6}$)의 $\alpha$-acid 함량 증가에 영향을 주었다. 3. $\alpha$-acid 함량 예측의 중선형 회귀모형은 Y=28.369-0.003 X$_1$+1.508 X$_2$-1.953X$_3$-0.335X$_4$-0.003X$_{5}$-0.119X$_{6}$로 MSEp=0.004, Rp$^2$=0.9987, Rap$^2$=0.9949, Cp=7.00이었다.

상태의존성 유한요소해석 및 CPT결과를 적용한 상재하중하의 얕은 기초의 지지력 결정 (Determination of CPT-based Bearing Capacity of Footings Under Surcharge Using State-dependent Finite Element Analysis)

  • 기초지반의 거동은 선형탄성이 아니며, 완전소성상태도 아닌 비선형 응력-변형률의 거동을 보이며, 지반 물성은 하중조건 및 상태에 따라 상이한 값을 나타내게 된다. 기존 기초 지지력 산정방법의 대부분은 기초지반 특성치의 대표값을 적용하고 있어, 응력상태에 따른 지반특성의 변화를 고려하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 상재하중을 받는 얕은 기초를 대상으로 지반의 상태의존적 변화특성을 고려하며 현장시험결과인 콘지지력값들 적용할 수 있는 얕은 기초의 지지력 산정에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 상태의존적 응력-변형률 거동 모델을 적용한 비선형 유한요소해석과 콘지지력해석을 수행하였으며, 이를 토대로 콘지지력의 함수로 표시되는 얕은 기초의 지지력 산정방법을 제안하였다. 보다 일반화된 결과를 도출하기 위해 다양한 범위의 상대밀도, 기초의 근입심도 및 크기 등을 고려하여 유한요소해석을 수행하였으며, 이를 통해 얻어진 하중-침하량 곡선을 토대로 콘지지력 값으로 정규화된 얕은 기초의 지지력값은 도출하였다. 상재하중이 적용된 지반에서 기초의 근입심도에 따른 정규화 극한 지지력의 차이는 비교적 작은 것으로 나타났으나, 상대밀도에 의한 차이는 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 상대밀도가 증가할수록 얕은 기초의 정규화 지지력은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.
