In this paper, actual bridges constructed with SMA (Stone Mastic Asphalt) deck pavement and virtual bridges substituted the deck pavement with polymer concrete under the same conditions were statically analyzed to investigate applicability of the thin polymer concrete bridge deck pavements. PSC (prestressed Concrete) girder bridge, steel box girder bridge, PSC box girder bridge, and RC (Reinforced Concrete) rahmen bridge constructed with the SMA deck pavement were analyzed and compared to evaluate various types of the bridge. The bridge deck and pavement were assumed to be fully bonded and the stress and deformation during the construction were ignored while those due to pavement weight and vehicle loading were analyzed. According to the analysis results, the stress and deformation of the bridges using the polymer concrete due to the pavement weight were smaller than those using the SMA because of smaller self weight due to lighter unit weight and thinner thickness of the pavement. The stress and deformation of the bridges using the polymer concrete due to the vehicle loading were larger than those using the SMA because of the smaller area moment of inertia due to the thinner pavement thickness. In case that the pavement weight and vehicle loading applied simultaneously, the stress and deformation of the bridges using the polymer concrete were smaller because effect of self weight reduction was more dominant. Investigation of performance of the bridge deck pavement and analysis of economical efficiency are warranted.

The major distresses in asphalt concrete pavement are rutting and fatigue cracking. Once the distresses are observed on pavement surface, an appropriate rehabilitation method should be found. Usually, asphalt patching or overlay methods are used to improve the pavement performance. The research presents the fundamental study on effective longitudinal rehabilitation methods for asphalt concrete pavements. The rehabilitation method will be applied to rutting that is occurred asphalt Pavement surface course and longitudinal cracking or fatigue cracking with light to moderate distress levels.

The effects of vehicles and pavement surface types on noise have been investigated at the Korea Expressway Corporation's Test Road along the southbound side of the Jungbu Inland Expressway, South Korea. The study was conducted in 2005 and 2006 through field measurements at nine surface sections of asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pavements using eleven vehicles. For the road noise analysis, the sound power levels (PWLs) of combined noise (e.g., tire/pavement interaction noise and power-train noise together) and tire/pavement interaction noise using various vehicles were calculated based on the novel close proximity (NCPX) and pass-by methods. Then, the characteristics of the PWLs were evaluated according to surface type, vehicle type, and vehicle speed. The results show that the PWLs of vehicles are diversely affected by vehicle speed and the condition of the road surface.

The dense graded asphalt concrete materials have been used for construction of pavement for a long time. The performance of asphalt concrete pavement, however, is influenced by various factors including high temperature and heavy axle loads which cause plastic deformation. The plastic deformation is one of the main functional disadvantages of flexble pavement. In this study, the semi-rigid pavement is considered to solve the problem. A set of experimental evaluation on semi-rigid pavement material has been coducted in laboratory to obtain it's physical properties and serviceabilities. The results of tests, including compressive strength, flexural strength, ravelling and wheel tracking, show that the semi-rigid pavement has a good mechanical properties and serviceabilities. Consequently, the semi-rigid pavement may be suitable to bridge deck, tunnel, slow lane and parking area pavements.

The frequent maintenance required on some asphalt concrete (AC) pavement sections has made reconstruction with Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) a feasible alternative. However, many constructability issues need to be addressed in order to realize the full potential of this alternative. Accelerated paving encompasses three classes of activities: methods to accelerate the rate of strength gain, methods to minimize the construction time, and traffic control strategies to minimize user delay. Three major AC intersections with severe rutting problems were reconstructed with PCCP. The entire reconstruction of each intersection, including demolition of the AC pavement and its replacement with PCCP, took place over a period of three days, starting on Thursday evening and opening the intersection to the traffic on Sunday afternoon. This paper discusses the use of PCCP for accelerated reconstruction of major urban intersections with minimal user and traffic disruption, using innovative construction techniques and traffic management optimization principles and demonstrates that concrete pavements can be constructed efficiently and quickly.

In road pavements, it is known that cement concrete pavement has superior durability, safety compared. But in repairing pavement, cement concrete pavement is not usually applied because of the length of time while the road is interrupted when using Ordinary and Rapid-hardening Portland Cement. And Super High Early Strength Cement and Ultra Super High Early Strength Cement are not favorable for ready mixed concrete because of rapid setting time, high slump loss and other restrictions. We developed special cement developing 1 day strength of over 30.0N/mm$^2$ to open the road within 1 day and workable time is maintained over 1 hour so that it can be used as ready mixed concrete. We performed experimental overlay construction with the cement and evaluated the mechanical property and the durability. At curing temperature of 8-l8$^{\circ}C$,the flexural strength was 6.4N/mm$^2$at 1 day, so that the road can be open to traffic within 1 day. In durability test, the hardened concrete showed higher durability than Portland cement concrete.

Porous concrete is defined as d type of concrete for which the fine aggregate component the matrix is entirely omitted. Although it had been used as a building material in Europe for over 60 years, low strength and high void ratio limited its application in the past. In recent years, however high void ratio of concrete has been recognized again and can be used as an environmental conscious material, for example, parking lots, draining light-traffic-volume pavements and as sea water purifying material. The result of an experiment on the void ratio of fiber reinforced porous concrete and its influence on the compressive strength and permeability relationship of concrete are reported in this paper. One-sized coarse aggregate of 5-10mm, and three absolute content of fiber(steel fiber, polyprophylen fiber) were used. The result of measured void ratio, permeability coefficient and compressive strength show a small variation. Void ratio, permeability coefficient and compressive strength of fiber reinforced porous concrete depend on contents of fiber and absolute volume ratios of paste to aggregate.

The use of sustainable technologies such as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), and/or recycled materials is expected to positively affect the performance of concrete mixtures. However, it is imperative to qualify and implement such mixtures in practice, if the required specifications of their intended application are met. This paper presents the results of a laboratory investigation of self-consolidating concrete (SCC) containing sustainable technologies. Twelve mixes were prepared with different combinations of fly ash, slag, and recycled asphalt pavement (RAP). Fresh and hardened concrete properties were measured, as expected the inclusion of the sustainable technologies affected both fresh and hardened concrete properties. Analysis of the experimental data indicated that inclusion of RAP not only reduces the ultimate strength, but it also affected the compressive strength development rate. The addition of RAP to mixes showed a consistent effect, with a drop in strength after 3, 14, and 28 days as the RAP content increased from 0 to 50 %. However, most of the mixes satisfied SCC fresh properties requirements, including mixes with up to 50 % RAP. Moreover, several mixes satisfied compressive strength requirement for pavements and bridges, those mixes included relatively high percentages of SCMs and RAP.
This study aimed to categorize pervious rubberized concrete into fresh and hardened concrete analyzing its durability, permeability and strength. During the globalization of modern life, growing population and industry rate have signified a sustainable approach to all aspects of modern life. In recent years, pervious concrete (porous concrete) has significantly substituted for pavements due to its mechanical and environmental properties. On the other hand, scrap rubber tire has been also contributed with several disposal challenges. Considering the huge amount of annually tire wastes tossing out, the conditions become worse. Pervious concrete (PC) gap has graded surface assisted with storm water management, recharging groundwater sources and alleviate water run-offs. The results have shown that the use of waste tires as aggregate built into pervious concrete has tremendously reduced the scrap tire wastes enhancing environmental compliance.
The purpose of this study is to present the resonable guideline of asphalt concrete pavements in apartment complex. To achieve this purpose was performed review of domestic and foreign guidelines, investigation of main distresses of asphalt concrete pavement, and structural analysis for the investigated cross-sections of the pavements in apartment complex. According to results of structural analysis, this study presented the standard cross-section of the pavement with subbase of 20cm, asphalt base of 5cm, and surface of 5cm in apartment complex. In urban areas, traffic is generally opened after asphalt base course is placed because of civil complaint by dust. Surface course is placed after all of work are completed. Considering these conditions, this study also presented the standard cross-section of the pavement with subbase of 20cm, asphalt base of 7cm, and surface of 5cm for urban areas that expect civil complaints by dust.
