  • Fiber reinforced shotcrete(FRS) is widely used in tunnel linings, which strengthen the rock surface and reduce the loosening of the rock strata. The advantages of FRS in tunnel linings are the unsusceptibility to crack, the benefit of shotcrete strength, and the superiority of toughness. In this study, the several evaluation methods of FRS toughness were investgated experimentally, which included the ASTM beam test, EFNARC square panel test and RTA round panel test. Especially, it was examined that the round panel test could fulfill the toughness evaluation of FRS.

  • Precast concrete finishing panels can be implemented in different colors, textures and designs relatively freely by different designers in different finishing materials. Therefore, we tried to develop a PC finishing panel that can be applied in the field by using various color pigment and concrete surface retardation method and polishing method.

  • Recently, the method of the apartment building design has been changed from wall type structures to moment structures. With like this reason dry walls are used plentifully. Especially, the gypsum board was used from previously plentifully however the weak point of it is difficult to maintain because it weak strength. For the improvement of gypsum board, light weight concrete panel using cement board is used recently. As this study is the research of the series t on the development of non-hearing light weight concrete Panel using bottom ash, the Purpose of this study is to obtain basic data for application in the field. The results are that the structure 1 satisfies domestic standard concerned with sound insulation between households at the laboratory and field test.

  • In the past decade, various experimental programmes were undertaken to address the lack of information on the interaction between steel coupling beams and reinforced concrete shear wall in a hybrid coupled shear wall system. In this paper, the seismic performance of steel coupling beam-wall connections in a hybrid coupled shear wall system is examined through results of an experimental research programme where three 2/3-scale specimens were tested under cyclic loading. The test variables included the reinforcement details that confer a ductile behaviour on the steel coupling beam-wall connection, i.e., the face bearing plates and the horizontal ties in the panel region of steel coupling beam-wall connections. Panel shear strength reflects enhancement achieved through mobilization of the reinforced concrete panel using face bearing plates and/or horizontal ties in the panel region of steel coupling beam-wall connections.

  • Four types of horizontal joint were tested to investigate the difference with regards to the compressive behavior and strength. These include wedge-type joints (i)with and (ii)without transverse reinforcement against splitting failure of the panel concrete, and wedge-type joints (iii)with different widths of joint concrete (6cm vs 8cm) and (iv)closed platform joint. It was shown that the compressive strength of wedge-type joint is about 10% higher than that of closed-type (platform) joint. But the effect of transverse reinforcement and joint concrete widths on the strength of the joints turned out be negligible. Also, the moduli of elasticity in panel and joint are compared and the equivalent moduli of the whole wall are derived.

  • Recently, the area of design optimization, especially structural optimization, has been and to be a continuous active area of research. And the design optimizations of port facilities have been achieved by many other civil engineers. But the design optimization of port facilities were limited to the design optimization of the breasting dolphin. This paper invested the design optimization of mooring pier and the foundations of mooring pier was suggested considering the convenience of repair and reinforcement work. The mooring pier devised with prestressed precast concrete panel and rigid frame welded wide flange beam to steel pipe pile. To accomplish the design optimization of mooring pier, the Augmented Lagrangian Multiplier Method(ALM) of ADS(Garret N. Vanderplaats) optimization routine, BFGS method as optimizer and Golden Section Method as one dimensional search were utilized. As a result, thirty percent of material cost for construction was reduced by design optimization. The tensile stress of concrete panel and bottom flage was critical constraints under service load. So, using high strength concrete and steel will be economical. And lots of initial values must be invested to accomplish the design optimization in design procedures.

  • Precast concrete panel buildings are designed to tracsmit shear forces through the joint between the reinforced concrete panels. The shear strength is partly provided by the resistance to sliding at the interface between the precast and in- situ concrete and partly by the dowel action of the reinforcement crossing the joint. The shear resistance to sliding is largely dependent on the shapes and configurations of vertical joints and the vertical loads of horizontal joints. In this paper, the shear strength by the difference of relative strength between panel and joint, the effect of reinforcement, and the effect of vertical load are considered.

  • The Study has analyzed the overall material properties, the measurement of forming colors and applicability of color concrete through making color concrete using red mud heated at 800℃mixed with existing pigment and applying it to the actual field. As the results, the slump flow and aeration meet the target value and the compressed strength of the concrete mixed with red mud and pigment is higher than that of the plain. In addition, the measurement of forming colors turn out to be satisfactory and the color forming is excellent. In the field application, the color concrete panel is proved to make sure the beauty of store exits through its various design available.
