Development of Deterioration Restraining Agent Using Polycondensed Silicate and Monomers (실리케이트와 모노머합성을 통한 콘크리트 열화억제제 개발)

  • Concrete structures have been damaged by salt, carbonization, freezing and thawing and the others. Therefore, it is needed to protect durability and performance according to the appropriate materials and methods in the concrete structures. In general, several types of polymer and silicate are used as protecting deterioration agents of concrete structures, but these agents have many problems because of low durability and properties. In this study, It developed the deterioration restraining agent using polycondensed silicate and monomer that can block a deterioration cause such as $CO_2$ gas, salt and water from the outside and enhance waterproofing ability by reinforcing the concrete surface when applying it to concrete structures. Also, it developed the systems for improving concrete performance using a deterioration restraining agent.

  • Scaling deterioration of port concrete structures due to the combined effects of chemical actions by seawater and the freeze-thaw action is also a problem which has not yet been fundamentally solved. Furthermore, deterioration of concrete surface was considered as accelerate factor of concrete durability tended to decrease. Therefore, we considered the scaling measuring method and decreasing influence of durability of concrete according to kind of binders, such as OPC, Slag, Slag+Fa, due to freeze and haw of sea water. As a results of this study, it was effective method of scaling deterioration of concrete, and confirmed the salt deterioration resistance effect to use slag binder against to sea water.

  • Recently damages caused by the additional costs and degradation in durability combined deterioration due to plain concrete deterioration has occurred. In particular, in the case of the finish that is not exposed to the outside air in the concrete to respond to the harsh environment (freeze-thawing, calcium laying, etc.), to establish a quality control way for the process and the concrete mix design for it.

  • The concrete structures are hardly ever built under ideal conditions. So many defects may occur for a various reasons such as unsuitable and defective materials, construction methods, poor workmanship, particular structural form and prevailing weather conditions. Some structural form can greatly increase the risk of occurrence of defects. Therefore we investigated the actual condition of the deterioration factors for reinforced concrete apartment, which was composed of 85 apartments with various building ages in different regions with five evaluation the deterioration factors of apartment building to establish the overall evaluation system of deterioration degree for reinforced concrete apartment in Korea.

  • In Marine Land underground reinforced concrete structures, such as electric box power structure, water and chloride ion penetrated into concrete through the cracks of concrete and its permeable property, cause the corrosion of reinforcing steel bar, which accelerates the expansive cracks and deterioration of concrete. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate on deterioration of durability concrete through instrumental analysis such as schmidt hammer and carbonation, chloride content. Under the reclaimed marine land, the main cause of deterioration of concrete structures is the steel corrosion due to the penetration of chlorides and the deterioration of outer concrete itself by chemical attack.

  • It have been announced that concrete subjected to freezing and thawing cause deterioration by expanded inside water and contracted at thawing. However, this study descrebe the deterioration mechanism of concrete by freezing and thawing test. Embeded strain gauges were used to measure the inside restrict strain due to the temperature differenct inside and outside the concrete test specimens. Test results showed that using the air entrained admixture and expanded poly-styrene was developed durability of concrete by decreasing inside retrict strain ratio.

  • Deterioration induced by the freezing and thawing in concrete often leads to the reduction in concrete durability by the cracking or surface spalling. In this paper, the deterioration prediction model for concrete structures subjected to the irregular freeze-thaw was proposed from the results of accelerated laboratory test using the constant temperature condition and acceleration factor from the in-situ weather data.

  • Durability of concrete is possibly related to externally-induced chemical attacks in addition to internally-induced deterioration. Externally-induced chemical attacks can be derived from various sources according to environmental conditions under which concrete structures are existing. The present study investigates the characteristic concrete deterioration and formation of secondary minerals by external chemical attacks under certain environmental condition. Petrographic microscope, SEM, EDAX, XRD analyses were conducted to identify secondary mineral formation and micro-structural analyses.

  • In clod weather regions, a strong seasonal wind brings sea salts to the land. In addition to it, recently, the spreading amount of de-icing salts has increased numerously for the purpose of removing snow and ice. Thus the salts environment around concrete structures becomes so severe that various damages of concrete due to applied salts will be brought up. It is briskly carried out study on effects of do-icing salts on concrete in America, Japan, European countries. However, there are not test method for the deterioration of concrete subjected to both freezing-thawing and chloride attack in Korea. In this study, we conduct on test for the compound deterioration subjected to both freezing-thawing and chloride attack, in order to investigate effects of de-icing salts on the deterioration of concrete.
