Objectives : To evaluate the anti-tumor and synergic effect of Soonkiwhajungtang with doxorubicin. Methods : The inhibitory concentration (IC), $IC_{50}$ and $IC_{90}$ of single use of doxorubicin and Soonkiwhajungtang with their concomitant treatment against MKN-45 (human stomach carcinoma) cell line were observed using MTT (microculture tetrazolium test) assay. In addition, their anti-tumor effects were also observed in xenograft nude mice models against the MKN-45 cell line. Results : Soonkiwhajungtang has only minimal direct anti-tumor effect against MKN-45 cell line but it reduced general depressed signs induced by implantation of the tumor cell lines and increased the total WBC and lymphocyte numbers. Conclusions : It is considered or expected that Soonkiwhajungtang extract reduces the critical toxicity of doxorubicin and has favorable synergic anti-tumor effect when administered concomitantly with doxorubicin.

Methods : The inhibitory concentration (IC), $IC_{50}{\;}and{\;}IC_{90}$ of single use of doxorubicin and BIDC with their concomitant treatment against Colon-26 (murine rectum carcinoma) cell line were observed using MTT (microculture tetrazolium test) assay. In addition, their anti-tumor effects were also observed in xenograft nude mice models against Colon-26 cell line. Results : BJDC had only minimal direct anti-tumor effect against Colon-26 cell line but it reduced general depressed signs induced by implantation of the tumor cell lines and increased the total WBC and lymphocyte numbers. Conclusions : It is considered or expected that BJDC extract is reducing the critical toxicity of doxorubicin and has favorable synergic anti-tumor effect when administered conconitently with doxorubicin.

Objectives : I report 12 cases of strabismus presented at [Oriental Medical Clinic of Kim Joong-Ho and Strabismus - Amblyopia Clinic, East-West Neo Medical Center, Kyung Hee University] from 2nd March 2006 to 29th February 2008. All have experienced good improvement of strabismus by treatment with Oriental medicine. Methods : Patients were treated with acupuncture, infra-red and herb medicine. The acupuncture points of (B2) 絲竹空(TE23) 承泣(S1) 陽白(G14) 太陽(E36) were mainly used. Herb medicines prescribed were Gagamseunggal-tang and Gamiboik-tang. Results : 9 cases of strabismus were caused by paralysis of the sixth cranial nerve and the third cranial nerve, while 3 cases happened with concomitant strabismus of esotropia and exotropia. They were treated to recover paralytic muscles and unelastic muscles around the eyes and face. Treatment took between 1 and 8 months. Conclusions : In the results of this study, treatment was effective to correct position at the eyeball. I report it is possible to treat strabismus successfully with Oriental medicine in a shorter time compared to western medicine.

We have experienced three cases of congenital bronchoesophageal fistula which is rare and usually has an insidious clinical course. The patients included a thirty year old man and thirty six, thirty eight year old women respectively. Bronchiectatsis was found in all three cases, and bronchoesophageal fistula was found in one case preoperatively by esophagography and esophagoscopy, and other two cases operative field. The fistula was found between right lower esophagus and right lower lobe in all cases and esophageal diverticulum in one case. So they belonged to type I[1 case , II[2 cases of Braimbridge and Keith`s classification of congenital bronchoesophageal fistula . The fistulectomy was performed in all cases and concomitant lobectomy [2 cases and bilobectomy [1 case were done. There were toxic hepatitis in two cases and prolonged air leakage in one case postoperatively. They were discharged on recovered state and have continued to do well.

We present a rare case of a patient with aortoiliac occlusive disease on the background of type A crossed renal ectopia, for whom open surgical intervention was required. Aortic exposure in patients with concomitant crossed renal ectopia can present technical challenges to the vascular surgeon. The knowledge of variations in the ectopic renal blood supply is of paramount importance when performing surgery to treat this condition and affects the choice of surgical exposure. We present and discuss the operative details of our patient and outline an approach to this subset of patients.

We report a case with squamous cell lung cancer with concomitant Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) as a paraneoplastic syndrome. A 67-year-old patient who was previously diagnosed as metastatic squamous cell lung cancer developed mild symmetrical weakness, paresthesia and sensory ataxia. Nerve conduction study showed sensorimotor polyneuropathy. Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid showed high tilter for monospecific anti-GD1b IgG antibody without onconeuronal antibodies. After treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin, the patient's symptoms improved.

This paper analyses the effect of social atmosphere on fashion model image with a study on two Periods, 1960s and 1990s. To be specific, we focus on two fashion models, Twiggy and Kate Moss who were famous in the late 60s and the early 90s respectively. We also study the works of Mary Quant and Calvin Klein in order to understand Twigg9y '||'&'||' Moss syndromes. Thee "waif" image which is usually associated with those uncared, homeless, pitiful, and immature is commonly found in Twiggy and Moss. It is argued that this dramatic change of image, that is, from a confident, mature one to the opposite, is strongly influenced by economic recession and a concomitant increase of social tension and pessimistic and decadent attitude.e.

Bony lesions of the glenoid and Hill-Sachs lesions are the most common injuries after a first-time traumatic shoulder dislocation. However, fracture of the coracoid process after traumatic shoulder dislocation is rare. A single, open surgical procedure could be performed by a Latarjet procedure using a fractured fragment of the coracoid process. If a fracture of the coracoid process is associated with a traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation, the Latarjet procedure may be the most appropriate surgical option.

Hemorrhagic cystitis is a common stem cell transplantation-related complication. The incidence of early-onset hemorrhagic cystitis, which is related to the pretransplant conditioning regimen, has decreased with the concomitant use of mesna and hyperhydration. However, late-onset hemorrhagic cystitis, which is usually caused by the BK virus, continues to develop. Although the BK virus is the most common pathogenic microorganism of poststem cell transplantation late-onset hemorrhagic cystitis, pediatricians outside the hemato-oncology and nephrology specialties tend to be unfamiliar with hemorrhagic cystitis and the BK virus. Moreover, no standard guidelines for the early diagnosis and treatment of BK virus-associated hemorrhagic cystitis after stem cell transplantation have been established. Here, we briefly introduce poststem cell transplantation BK virus-associated hemorrhagic cystitis.

Increased concentrations of yeast extract led to increased growth yields and faster growth rates of the newly isolated Clostridium thermobutyricum. This species produced butyrate as its main fermentation product from glucose as well as from yeast extract. In the presence of peptone or tyrptone and during growth on agar, up to 70% of the cells sporulated. Growth yields were 30 and 55 g per mole glucose in the presence of 0.05 and 2.0% yeast extract, respectively. The Arrhenius graph was biphasic, exhibiting an intermediary plateau around $38^{\circ}C$ with a concomitant change in the Arrhenius energy. The optimum temperature was $55^{\circ}C$. An unusually sharp decline in the growth rate occurred above $59^{\circ}C$ .
