  • Team decision making is a collective behavior that needs to be understood by considering properties belonging to team and individual member domains together. This paper introduces a conceptual model called "Dual-Level(DL)" model that describes a team decision-making process in terms of team level, member level, and the relationship between them. The team-level view explains the decision-making process by considering the team as a wholeand divides the process into three stages: Problem Conceptualization, Alternative Generation, and Selection. The member-level view describes what happens to individual members when they go through the group process and splits it into the five phases: Individual Cognitive Mapping, Problem Decomposition, Subproblem Session, Subproblem Integration, and Team Decision. The DL model works as a theoretical framework to explore team decision making by using a set of computational models of team design and team members. In practice, the conceptual framework is used to build a computational model of decision making team, called "Team-Soar."

  • Prestige products, such as apparel, are infrequently purchased and require a higher level of interest and knowledge because they are strongly related to an individual's self-concept. This study was designed to conceptualize prestige seeking behaviors by investigating the underlying motives and its influence on brand loyalty. This study adapts Vigneron and Johnson's (1999) framework as a conceptualization of prestige seeking apparel consumption. A survey questionnaire was developed to measure the five underlying values of prestige consumption and brand loyalty. Data from 554 college students were used for the analysis. Results of confirmatory factor analysis using LISREL indicated that apparel prestige consumption does not consist of five distinctive dimensions. Among five theoretically driven dimensions, prestige consumption due to conspicuous, social and emotional value were highly correlated. Structural equation modeling using LISREL showed that brand loyalty was significantly influenced by prestige consumption due to conspicuous value, hedonic value, and uniqueness value.

  • While past knowledge management researches have focused on conceptualization and strategic implications, knowledge asset researches attempt to provide practical guidelines for companies. However, each research classifies knowledge asset from its own perspective, and thus it is not a trivial task to leverage consistent and inclusive criteria in managing corporate knowledge asset. The objective of this paper is to develop a knowledge asset classification schema on the basis of the three business functions: customer relationship management, product innovation, and infrastructure management. To demonstrate the feasibility of our schema, it has been applied to 9 Korean corporations. Knowledge assets are evaluated according to core capabilities, which are main drivers of sustainable competitive advantages. The results of case study show that the leveraged classification schema reflects current knowledge asset management and characteristics of corporations. Our finding is that most top-quality knowledge management corporations are likely to develop well-balanced knowledge asset.

  • Consciousness is really regarded as too ambiguous a concept to be understood and accepted as a mental construct without the inclusion of memory and attention in any conceptualization. However we need one criterion to count satisfactorily as an explanation of consciousness in information processing. An operational working definition of consciousness could be made in comparison of memory and attention: Consciousness would be a subjective awareness of momentary experience and also have the characteristics of an operating system performing control and consolidation information processing. This could be called a cognitive consciousness. It is possible that some distinctions between consciousness, memory and attention can be made conceptually and functionally from the perspectives of information processing.

  • Weak competencies in urban local bodies (ULBs) for implementing public private partnership (PPP) projects has been recognized as a major hurdle in uptake of PPP model in India. In this context, a questionnaire survey was conducted to evaluate perception of urban PPP experts and ULB representatives on three aspects related to competency development, including, critical competencies for implementing urban PPP projects, approaches for competency development in ULBs and constraints faced by ULBs in development of competencies. The five critical competencies identified are project identification, project conceptualization, transaction design, PPP process management and contract management. The approach of training programs for municipal staff and elected representatives, and capacity building oriented technical assistance for implementing urban PPP projects have been preferred by survey respondents for competency development. The frequent transfer of municipal decision makers and low motivation among municipal staff have been identified as the most significant constraints for development of competencies.

  • school mathematics is based on the premise that teacher have extensively complex mathematics content and pedagogical content knowledge to employ teaching to facilitate students' conceptualization of mathematics knowledge. In this paper we have presented the realities of teacher education program about several countries and three source area in teaching school mathematics. As a result we suggest that for developing mathematics teacher education First, communities have to hold teachers in high esteem due to confucian heritage. Second, our university have t provide one year internship for training for practices and the use of interactive multimedia simulation. Third, college courses have to help students discard misunderstanding knowledge and briefs about mathematics and pedagogy they bring to the university. Fourth, our country have to reform teacher education system. Fifth, the government have to pay the tuition costs for more students.

  • Drawing from journal articles, community nutrition textbooks, government documents, national conference reports, the author's own work in community programming, and discussions with practicing Community Nutritionists, this article illuminates the scope and character of community nutrition in the United States. It traces the roots of community nutrition in home economics, nutrition, education, communication, social and behavioral sciences, and describes the evolution of theory. And finally it suggests issues to be addressed by community nutrition researchers and practitioners through collaborations that integrate perspectives within community nutrition and strategically cross disciplinary boundaries. These include: 1) theory development and application in research and practice within philosophically consistent perspectives; 2) methodological development (qualitative and quantitative) drawing from the social and behavioral sciences that apply to community nutrition; 3) taking a long view of community nutrition and recognizing that change requires integrated efforts over long periods of time; 4) engaging community stakeholders in research as well as program planning and 5) engaging with community nutritionists from other countries for cross-cultural research and conceptualization. This journal and the Korean Society for Community Nutrition, as the only journal and society expressly devoted to community nutrition, would be the best context for such collaborations.

  • This study was aimed to identify the conceptualization of apparel store service quality and to investigate the dimensions of apparel store service quality. Apparel store service involves tangibles like employees and equipment and intangible like policy convenience and credit. Apparel store service quality is composed mlti-dimentionally. In the empirical research a questionnaire was developed and statistical data were collected during June 1998. The subjects were 244 women in the age of 20's SAS were used to analyze collected data. Frequency percentage mean STD, factor analysis and Cronbach's a were applied. From the results of analysis the apparel store service quality were classified into four dimenstions ; salesperson(7 items) VMD(6 items) reliable policy(5 items) and customer convenience (3 items)

  • Process of thinking on the form in product design includes the process in which unclear requirements are transformed into defined concepts, and the process in which the design as a form conforming to the concepts in conc1uded.(The former is called fconceptualizationJ which deals with abstract matters, and the latter "manipulation of the formJ which deals with more embodied matters) In conceptualization process the operation which transform the diverse requirements in the initial phase of de\ulcornersign to related linguistic expressions or to an image that directly suggests the form is executed. In the process of manipulation of the form the transformation to design as the description of relationships between the formal elements of the design solution resulted from the transformed requirements. It is the job of selecting the most suitable formal elements, balancing the relationships between them, out 01 the possibilities that reside in the individual attributes of formal elements, and finally leading to the design as the end solution. This writing focuses down to the wilfulness and ambiguity of design, and the diversity of design solution after the requirements, formal elements, and the process of relating the formal attributes to each other is built up the two phases.ases.

  • This study presents a new conceptualization of the history of Islamic astronomy. Islamic history is an embedded global cultural phenomenon and will be analyzed at different levels: a) the history of institutional aspects (observatories, including buildings), b) instruments, c) manuscripts, and d) scholars. This phenomenon will be analyzed as a multi-lingual phenomenon with Arabic as the language of sciences as a starting point. Although this is not a study of a geographical region in a narrow sense, it is a historical note on the entanglement of research written in Arabic, Persian and other languages and contextualized in a framework reaching geographically far beyond the confines of the Islamic world and being part of global history.
