  • Malware Authorship Attribution is a research field for identifying malware by comparing the author characteristics of unknown malware with the characteristics of known malware authors. The authorship attribution method using binaries has the advantage that it is easy to collect and analyze targeted malicious codes, but the scope of using features is limited compared to the method using source code. This limitation has the disadvantage that accuracy decreases for a large number of authors. This study proposes a method of 'Defining semantic features from binaries' and 'Defining allowable ranges for redundant features using the concept of survival network' to complement the limitations in the identification of binary authors. The proposed method defines Opcode-based graph features from binary information, and defines the allowable range for selecting unique features for each author using the concept of a survival network. Through this, it was possible to define the feature definition and feature selection method for each author as a single technology, and through the experiment, it was confirmed that it was possible to derive the same level of accuracy as the source code-based analysis with an improvement of 5.0% accuracy compared to the previous study.

  • The reliability based design optimization (RBDO) approach requires high computing cost to consider uncertainties. In order to reduce the design cost, the single loop single vector (SLSV) approach has been developed for RBDO. This method can reduce the cost in calculating deign sensitivity by elimination of the nested optimization process. However, this process causes the increment of the instability or inaccuracy of the method according to the problem characteristics. Therefore, the method may not give accurate solution or the robustness of the solution is not guaranteed. Especially, when the function is concave, the process frequently diverges. In this research, the concept of the conjugate gradient method for unconstrained optimization is utilized to develop a new single loop single vector method. The conjugate gradient is calculated with gradient directions at the most probable points (MPP) of previous cycles. Mathematical examples are solved for the verification of the proposed method. The numeri cal performances of the obtained results are compared to those of other RBDO methods. The SLSV approach using conjugate gradient is not greatly influenced by the problem characteristics and improves its convergence capability.

  • In this paper, a novel static overmodulation scheme (OVM) for space-vector PWM (SVPWM) is proposed. The proposed static OVM scheme uses the concept of adding offset voltages in linear region as well as overmodulation region to fully utilize DC-link voltage. By employing zero sequence voltage injection, the proposed scheme reduces procedures for achieving SVPWM such as complicated gating time calculation. In addition, this paper proposes a stepwise discontinuous angle movement in high modulation region in order to reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The validity of the proposed scheme is verified through theoretical analysis and experimental results.

  • Motion Estimation/compensation(ME/MC) is one of the efficient interframe ceding techniques for its ability to reduce the high redundancy between successive frames of an image sequence. Calculating the blocking matching takes most of the encoding time. In this paper a new fast block matching algorithm(BMA) is developed for motion estimation and for reduction of the computation time to search motion vectors. The feature of the new algorithm comes from the center-biased checking concept and the trend of pixel movements. At first, Motion Vector(MV) is searched in ${\pm}$1 of search area and then the motion estimation is exploited in the rest block. The ASP and MSE of the proposed search algorithm show good performance.

  • An efficient bit rate distribution technique that distributes available bits for multiple objects based on motion vector magnitude, size of object shape, and coding distortion is presented. This coding concept using the three parameters was exploited in MPEG-4 multiple object coding. But the scheme is likely to produce poor results such as allocating more bits to less important objects and degrading picture quality, due to the lack of analysis and research in view of human visual aspect. In this paper importance of each object is represented by the three parameters and visually analyzed. Target bits are distributed according to coding distortion using the pre-assigned shape and motion information.

  • A 2-frame PTV (particle tracking velocimetry) system using the concept of match probability between two consequent image frames has been developed to obtain instantaneous velocity fields. The overall 2-frame PTV system including image pre-processing, tracking algorithm and post-processing routine was implemented to apply to real flows. The developed 2-frame PTV system has several advantages such as high recovery ratio of velocity vectors, low error ratio and small computational time compared with the conventional 4-frame PTV and the FFT-based cross-correlation PIV technique. The 2-frame PTV system was applied to a turbulent channel flow over a rectangular block to check its reliability and usefulness. Total 96 sequential image frames have been captured and processed to get both mean and fluctuating velocity vector fields over the recirculating region. The mean velocity and turbulent intensity profiles were well agreed with hte LDV measurements in the separated region behind the block. Time-averaged reattachment length is about 6.3 times of the block height.

  • As the transmission of 3D shape models through Internet becomes more important, the compression issue of shape models gets more critical. The issues for normal vectors have not yet been explored as much as it deserves, even though the size of the data for normal vectors can be significantly larger than its counterparts of topology and geometry. Presented in this paper is an approach to compress the normal vectors of a shape model represented in a mesh using the concept of clustering. It turns out that the proposed approach has a significant compression ratio without a serious sacrifice of the visual quality of the model.

  • A new control algorithm so called equal excursion sliding mode (EESM) control method is proposed to control the position of DC servo motor. This method introduces the concept of phase velocity vector that Filippov presented, and simplifies the problem of control gain selection in a conventional VSC strategy. And, by making state trajectories have equal excursions on both sides of switching hyperplane we minimized the probability of sliding mode's being collapsed, and approximated to the ideal sliding moed. Also, we proved the validity of this method by comparing the application results of this method to DC servo motor with those of conventional VSC strategy.

  • A new approach to the position sensor elimination of PM synchronous motor drives is presented in this study. Using the position sensing characteristics of PMSM itself, the actual rotor position as well as the machine speed can be estimated by adaptive flux observer and used as the feedback signal for the vector controlled PMSM drive. The adaptive speed estimation is achieved by model reference adaptive technique. The adaptive laws are derived by the Popov's hyperstability theory and the positivity concept. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, computer simulations are carried out for the actual parameters of a PM synchronous motor and the results well demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides a good estimation value of the rotor speed without mechanical sensor. It is also shown that the actual rotor position as well as the machine speed can be achieved under the variation of the magnet flux linkage. Since the flux linkages are estimated by the adaptive flux observer and used for the identification of the rotor speed, robust estimation of the rotor speed can be performed.

  • The determination of firing order is very significant procedure in initial stage of design for medium speed diesel engine. Generally, the selection of firing order has been accomplished in view of minimum excitation forces condition. In this paper all possible firing orders under the given number of cylinder were considered to decide the optimum. Meanwhile torsional vibration characteristics using the phase vector sum method and minimum excitation force concept were applied. From these results, some superior cases were selected. And then, the torsional vibration response analysis and the resonance characteristics of engine structure were investigated for the final decision.
