  • The Possibility of using acoustic impedance as an input Parameter for computation of underwater acoustic field in shallow waters was investigated. Analysis of the acoustic reflection from the ocean bottom with shear wave effect showed that acoustic impedances below the critical grazing angle have nearly angle-independent property and could be approximated with a single value of near-grazing impedance $Z_0$. Computations of the Propagation loss based on the concept of 'effective depth' indicate that near-grazing bottom acoustic impedances could be used as an input parameter for simulation of the acoustic fields in shallow waters.

  • Feedrate is one of the factors that have the significant effects on the productivity, qualify and tool life in the cutting mechanism as well as cutting velocity, depth of cut and width of cut. In this study, in order to realize the high-efficient machining, a new feedrate optimization method is proposed based on the concept that the optimum feedrate can be derived from the allowable cutting power since the cutting power can be predicted from the cutting parameters as feedrate, depth of cut, width of cut, chip thickness, engagement angle, rake angle, specific cutting force and so on. Tool paths are extracted from the original NC program via the reverse post-processing process and converted into the infinitesimal tool paths via the interpolation process. And the novel NC program is reconstructed by optimizing the feedrate of infinitesimal tool paths. Especially, the fast feedrate optimization is realized by using the Boolean operation based on the Goldfeather CSG rendering algorithm, and the simulation results reveal the availability of the proposed optimization method dramatically reducing the cutting time and/or the optimization time. As a result, the proposed optimization method will go far toward improving the productivity and qualify.

  • In recent years. the concept of the modified compression field theory (MCFT) was develped and applied to the analysis of reinforced concrete beams subjected to shear, moment, and axial load. Although too complex for regular use in the shear design or beams. the procedure has value in its ability to provide a rational method of anlysis and design for reinforced concrete members. The objective of this paper is to review the MCFT and apply it for the prediction of the response and shear strength of reinforced concrete beams A Parametric analysis was Performed on a reinforced T-section concrete beam to evaluate and compare the effects of concrete strength. longitudinal reinforcement ratio shear reinforcement ratio, and shear span to depth ratio in two different approaches the MCFT and the ACI code. The analytical study showed that the concrete contribution to shear strength by the MCFT was higher than the one by the ACI code in beams without stirrups, while it was lower with stirrups. On the other hand. shear reinforcement contribution predicted by the MCFT was much higher than the one by the ACI code. This is because the inclination angle of shear crack is much smaller than 45$^{\circ}$assumed in the ACI code.

  • The thrust vectoring concept has been used for use in new advanced supersonic aircraft. This study presents the performance characteristics of the thrust vectoring nozzle by visualizing the shock behaviors with Schlieren method. We performed experimental tests to see the geometrical effects of the thrust vector nozzle by changing pitch angle and length of pitch flaps. From this study we could understand the supersonic flow characteristics of the thrust vector nozzle. The total thrust of thrust vector nozzle is diminished by increasing the flap angle. But there is an optimum flap length ratio for attaining the highest thrust level and proper pitch effect.

  • This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of a co-axial swirl injector. Especially to predict the initial liquid sheet thickness and spray cone angle of an outer orifice a concept of effective area was introduced from hydraulic analysis. In addition, the parameters determining the characteristics of a co-axial swirl injector were re-defined around outer orifice. The calculated results-SMD, spray cone angle, and spray thickness agreed well with the test results qualitatively.

  • An anisotropic version of Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion is proposed in order to provide a strength criterion for transversely isotropic rock. The concept of fabric tensor introduced by Pietruszczak & Mroz (2001) is employed to define the friction angle and cohesion as scalar functions of the fabric tensors. The anisotroy in these two strength parameters are calculated in association with the consideration of the relative rotation between the principal stress coordinate and the principal material triad. The critical plane on which the anisotropic function maximized is found by an optimization technique based on the Lagrange multiplier method. To demonstrate the performance of the anisotropic failure criterion, conventional triaxial tests on the samples having various inclinations of weakness plane are simulated and the resulting triaxial strength and dip angle of failure plane are discussed.

  • A spacecraft alignment measurement requires highly precise measurement accuracy which is less than ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}$. In general, such an alignment measurement has been performed by using three or more theodolites. However, it contains the latent accuracy error because of a position stability of spacecraft, etc. The new alignment measurement system which consists of a theodoilte, a rotating table and a digital inclinometer has been developed to possibly to possibly reduce the error. This paper describes the concept and methodology of methodology of measurement system. It was found that new measurement system can provide more accurate results than the conventional system.

  • This paper studies measurement of sonic boom created by supersonic flight and its arrival angle estimation techniques. Since sonic boom propagates as an impulsive noise and includes infrasound frequency, we propose measurement instrumentation acquiring sonic boom signature without distortion. And we suggest the methodology for an arrival angle estimation with its performance analysis in accordance with sensor array configurations. The performance of our estimator is verified by comparing theoretical performance bound with statistics of its Monte-Carlo simulation results. Furthermore, we presents the analysis of the sonic boom measurement from real flight tests. This work provides an intuitive concept for sensor array configurations and measurement instrumentation.

  • The T-50 advanced supersonic jet trainer employs the Relaxed Static Stability (RSS) concept to improve the aerodynamic performance while the flight control system stabilizes the unstable aircraft and provides adequate handling qualities. The T-50 flight control laws employ a proportional-plus-integral type controller based on a dynamic inversion method in longitudinal axis and a proportional type controller based on a blended roll system with simple roll rate feedback and beta-betadot feedback system. These control laws are verified by flight tests with various maneuver set flight envelopes and the control laws are updated to resolve flight test issues. This paper describes several concepts of flight control laws used in T-50 to resolve those flight test issues. Control laws for solving the roll-off problem during pitch maneuver in asymmetric loading configurations, improving the departure resistance in negative angle of attack conditions and enhancing the fine tracking performance in air-to-air tracking maneuvers are described with flight test data.

  • We developed wire frame drive unit based on SMA for the 3D Shape display. Our basic concept is wire frame combination connected with a chain form which can create various shapes and it compared with pin array mechanism which is not able to display mushroom shape. It imitates antagonist mechanism of human musculoskeletal system. we create similar motion using repair-relaxation mechanism and locking mechanism by SMA. Therefore, in this paper, we propose SMA control solution for actuating repair-relaxation mechanism and locking mechanism. In our control system. we use optical sensor and quantitative angle between wire frames for closed loop control. And we supply amplified current for SMA by circuit composed of transistor and apply PWM signal to circuit for efficient control. So, wire frame drive unit enable diversity angle control based on sensor data. And then combination of wire frame drive units will create various objects.
