  • The deployment of 5G is in full swing, with a significant yearly growth in the data traffic expected to reach 26% by the year and data consumption to reach 122 EB per month by 2022 [10]. In parallel, the idea of smart cities has been implemented by various governments and private organizations. One of the main objectives of 5G deployment is to help develop and realize smart cities. 5G can support the enhanced data delivery requirements and the mass connection requirements of a smart city environment. However, for specific high-demanding applications like tactile Internet, transportation, and augmented reality, the cloud-based 5G infrastructure cannot deliver the required quality of services. We suggest using multi-access edge computing (MEC) technology for smart cities' environments to provide the necessary support. In cloud computing, the dependency on a central server for computation and storage adds extra cost in terms of higher latency. We present a few scenarios to demonstrate how the MEC, with its distributed architecture and closer proximity to the end nodes can significantly improve the quality of services by reducing the latency. This paper has surveyed the existing work in MEC for 5G and highlights various challenges and opportunities. Moreover, we propose a unique framework based on the use of MEC for 5G in a smart city environment. This framework works at multiple levels, where each level has its own defined functionalities. The proposed framework uses the MEC and introduces edge-sub levels to keep the computing infrastructure much closer to the end nodes.

  • Cloud computing markets are rapidly growing as cost savings and business innovation are being carried out through ICT worldwide. In line with this paradigm, the nation is striving to introduce cloud computing in various areas, including the public sector and defense sector, through various research. In the defense sector, DIDC was established in 2015 by integrating military, naval, air and military computing centers, and it provides cloud services in the form of IaaS to some systems in the center. In DIDC and various future cloud defense systems, It is an important issue to ensure availability in cloud defense systems in the defense sector because system failures such as network delays and system resource failures are directly linked to the results of battlefields. However, ensuring the highest levels of availability for all systems in the defense cloud can be inefficient, and the efficiency that can be gained from deploying a cloud system can be reduced. In this paper, we classify and define the level of availability of defense cloud systems step by step, and propose the strategy of introducing Erasure coding and failure acceptance systems, and disaster recovery system technology according to each level of availability acquisition.

  • With the proliferation of cloud computing infrastructures, service providers are able to deploy services in on-demand manner. Recently, microservice architecture has been attracting attention in order to maximize the efficiency of resource expansion in cloud infrastructure. Instead of implementing all of the service functions in a single software, service providers can easily and autonomously implement the necessary services by interconnecting the necessary services through an efficiently designed application programming interface (API). Moreover service developer can freely choice programming languages and define software, and functional structures to meet their functional requirements. In this paper, we propose virtual infrastructure manager service based on microservice architecture and evaluates its performance in scalability perspective.

  • The real-time tracking system is an essential factor for the development of low cost sensor networks for use in pervasive computing and ubiquitous networking. In this paper, we address the interference problems of the sensor network platform with ultrasonic for location tracking system. Ubiquitous indoor environments often contain substantial amounts of metal and other such reflective materials that affect the propagation of radio frequency signals in non-trivial ways, causing severe multi-path effects, dead-spots, noise, and interference. Especially we present a novel reducing interference location system that is particularly well suited to support context-aware computing. The system called Pharos, aims to combine the advantages of real-time tracking systems that implement distributed environment with regardless of infrastructure or infrastructure-less wireless sensor networks.

  • Effective cost management requires reliable cost estimates at every stage of project development. The primary purpose of this research is to develop systematic modeling procedures and an automatic computing program for infrastructure estimating in the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The computing system toggles between project input information and segregated district unit prices for highway work item quantity estimates associated with earthwork and landscape, subgrade treatments and base, surface courses and pavement, structures, miscellaneous construction, and lighting, signing, markings and signals. This quantity-based approach was chosen because of the conventional approach lacking of quantity information until primary design is complete.

  • In the rapidly growing field of quantum computing, it is evident that a robust supply chain is needed for commercialization or large-scale production of quantum chips. As a result, the success of many R&D projects worldwide relies on the development of quantum chip foundries. In this paper, a variety of quantum chip foundries, particularly the ones creating photonic integrated circuit (PIC) quantum chips, are reviewed and summarized to demonstrate current technological trends. Global projects aiming to establish new foundries, as well as information regarding their respective funding, are also included to identify the evolutionary direction of quantum computing infrastructure. Furthermore, the potential application of lithium niobate as a novel material platform for quantum chips is also discussed.

  • The emerging technologies at the industrial level have deployed rapidly within the energy transition process innovations. The nuclear industry incorporates several technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Digital Twins, High-Performance-Computing (HPC) and Quantum Computing (QC), among others. Factors identifications are explained to set up a regulatory framework in the digitalization era, providing new capabilities paths for nuclear technologies in the forthcoming years. The Analytical Network Process (ANP) integrates the quantitative-qualitative decision-making analysis to assess the implementation of different aspects in the digital transformation for the New-Energy Transition Era (NETE) with a Nuclear Power Infrastructure Development (NPID).

  • Cloud computing makes extensive use of virtual machines that permit for workloads, as well as resource usage, to be isolated from one another, and a hypervisor can be used by a virtual machine to construct cloud computing infrastructure. However, the hypervisor has high resource usage when constructing virtual machines, which results in a waste of allocated resources when not activated. Docker provides a more light-weight method to obtain agile computing resources based on a container technique that handles this problem. In this study, we have chosen this specific tool due to the increasing popularity of MapReduce and cloud container technologies such as Docker. This study aims to automatically configure Twister workloads for container-driven clouds. Basically, this is the first attempt towards automatic configuration of Twister jobs on a container-based cloud platform VM for many workloads.

  • Ubiquitous computing represents the most explicit attempt yet to move computing technology beyond the confines of tool usage towards a pervasive penetration of everyday life. In this report, as a general introduction of Ubiquitous computing, a trend of Ubiquitous computing devices is proposed for the applied technology fields and our everyday life. We outline a broad analysis of this technology based on a close examination of the researches advancing it. After introducing a framework for understanding modem device technology, we develop an interpretation of ubiquitous computing concentrating on its guiding principles, technological infrastructure, and trends.
