  • In the present study, a fibular osteotomy guide based on a computer simulation was applied to a patient who had undergone mandibular segmental ostectomy due to oncological complications. This patient was a 68-year-old woman who presented to our department with a biopsy-proven squamous cell carcinoma on her left gingival area. This lesion had destroyed the cortical bony structure, and the patient showed attenuation of her soft tissue along the inferior alveolar nerve, indicating perineural spread of the tumor. Prior to surgery, a three-dimensional computed tomography scan of the facial and fibular bones was performed. We then created a virtual computer simulation of the mandibular segmental defect through which we segmented the fibular to reconstruct the proper angulation in the original mandible. Approximately 2-cm segments were created on the basis of this simulation and applied to the virtually simulated mandibular segmental defect. Thus, we obtained a virtual model of the ideal mandibular reconstruction for this patient with a fibular free flap. We could then use this computer simulation for the subsequent surgery and minimize the bony gaps between the multiple fibular bony segments.

  • This paper proposes a distributed simulator for general control system in CEMTool. Systems can be described by SIMTool likes the simulink in Matlab. For distributed simulation, we can seperate any system into several parallel subsystems in SIMTool. The number of parallel subsystem can be determined by the system's property. After seperation, parallel simulator will do initialization, one-step-ahead simulation, block-distribution and ordering and so on. Finally, simulator will create independent C codes and executive files for each subsystem. The whole system is fulfilled by several PCs, and each PC executes one subsystem. There are communications among these subsystem using reflective memory or ethernet. We have made several experiments, and the 5-stand cold rolling mill control system is our main target. The result of parallel simulation has shown effective speedup in comparison with one pc simulation.

  • War game Simulation System is a simulation system of military operation. In order to ensure all of the data that are running are secure, this system has to emphasize the security policy. In this paper, we analyze the running environment and the weakness of the security about exiting system. For improving the weakness, we design and implement this security system that is consisted of three components: Authentication System, Encryption System and Network Security System. Therefore, we can apply War game Simulation System to security system and improve the secure performance of this one.

  • A computer simulation method is introduced to understand the joining phenomena of PC and CFRP by estimating the temperature of the weld zone. Following the prior or preliminary research, the power range was set between 3 watts and 7 watts, and the scanning speed was set at 500 mm/min and 1,000 mm/min, respectively. Based on the computer simulation, the temperature near the joining boundary was not sufficient at the scanning speed of 1,000 mm/min, regardless of the selected powers. However, the temperature increases above the melting temperature of the selected polymers at the scanning speed of 500 mm/min. The simulation results were compared with actual weld samples to validate its actual use.

  • Die design by computer simulation has some advantages compared with the conventional method which has performed by designer's experiences and trials and errors. The die filling and solidification process of thixoforming process were simulated by MAGMAsoft/thixo module. Furthermore, the die design for thixoforming was performed with the various geometry shape. The effect of designed gate dimension on filling phenomenon was estimated by filling simulation. The calculated results was compared with experimental data. The free surface phenomenon obtained by experiment have good agreement with computer simulation results. The solidification effect much as prosity and shrinkage for designed semi-solid forging die had been predicted by computer simulation. The designed die for semi-solid forging had been applied to produce of the frame part which is used to airconditious system.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the performance of a transient queueing approximation when it is applied to modeling computer communication networks. An operational computer network that uses the ISO IS-IS(Intermediate System-Intermediate System) routing protocol is modeled as a Jackson network. The primary goal of the approximation pursued in the study was to provide transient queue statistics comparable in accuracy to the results from conventional Monte Carlo simulations. A closure approximation of the M/M/1 queueing system was extended to the general Jackson network in order to obtain transient queue statistics. The performance of the approximation was compared to a discrete event simulation under nonstationary conditions. The transient results from the two simulations are compared on the basis of queue size and computer execution time. Under nonstationary conditions, the approximations for the mean and variance of the number of packets in the queue erer fairly close to the simulation values. The approximation offered substantial speed improvements over the discrete event simulation. The closure approximation provided a good alternative Monte Carlo simulation of the computer networks.

  • Two dimensional numericl analysis program of power VDMOSFET structure has been developed. Modeling for equipotential distribution, current flow pattern and carrier distribution are presented. I-V characteristic curves due to saturation velocity, mobility value, transconductance and on-resistance are studied by comparison of computer simulated results and exeperimental data. These are found to agree with the simulated results and experimental data.

  • A mobile agent is an autonomous software agent capable of moving from one computer to another while performing its tasks. We view the agent as a discrete event system in the view of its computation and communication. This paper presents a methodology far modeling and simulation of such a mobile agent system as a discrete event system. The methodology is based on the Mobile Discrete Event System Specification (MDEVS) formalism and the associated simulation environment AgentSim which are previously developed by the authors. Within the methodology an atomic model represents dynamics of a mobile agent; a coupled model is modeled as mobile agent servers for representation of structural changes between atomic agents. Being based on the object-oriented environment the modeling methodology exploits inheritance of basic classes AtomicModel and CoupledModel provided by AgentSim.

  • This Paper presents micro-computer simulation programs for a pneumatic control system. The simulation programs have been written in BASIC language which is suitable for 6502CPU with 48KB memory and consist of 11 programs which describe the time response and frequency response of the pneumatic actuation system. This simulation package is stored in 51/4 inch floppy diskette. The user requires no simulation expertise on the part of designer. As the result of using this simulation programs for the pneumatic control system with stabilizing tank, it has shown that the response time of the system using air as working medium takes more time to be settled but relatively stable rather than the system using helium.
