  • This paper investigates the parameters that control the design of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) reinforced concrete flexural members proportioned following the ACI 440.1R-06. It investigates the critical parameters that control the flexural design, such as the deflection limits, crack limits, flexural capacity, concrete compressive strength, beam span and cross section, and bar diameter, at various Mean-Ambient Temperatures (MAT). The results of this research suggest that the deflection and cracking requirements are the two most controlling limits for FRP reinforced concrete flexural members.

  • Elastomeric bearing is used as one of the most useful way for isolation structures, because the horizontal stiffness is much lower than the vertical stiffness. In the design criteria of Elastomeric bearing, the stability of the bearings is evaluated by shear strain due to compression, lateral displacement, and rotation. The question how soft rubber can sustain heavy structure is now able to be solved by Ultimate capacity test of Laminated Elastomeric Bearings, which results 1,200kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ of the max. compressive stress and this shows what a sufficient safety factor Elastomeric bearing has !

  • In this study, the reinforcing effect of micropile for weathered rock is analysed by laboratory model tests. Especially, the effect of the number, the surface roughness, and length of micropile are focused. The results of tests are as follows: $\circled1$ The deformation modulus of reinforced ground is less than equivalent deformation modulus, and $\circled2$ Increasing effect of unconfined compressive strength is not large as times as increasing the number of micropile.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish flexural behavior of high-strength concrete by means of both theoretical approach and experimental analysis of beams in which confinement stirrups have been introduced into pure bending zone. The experiment was carried out on full-scale high-strength reinforced concrete beams whose compressive strengths are 400 and 700kgf/cm$^2$, and confined with rectangular closed stirrups. The test results are reviewed in terms of flexural capacity and ductility.

  • Experimental studies for the laminated elastomeric bearing and the lead-rubber bearing, those are often used to improve the seismic capacity of the structures recently, are conducted to evaluate the seismic capacity of the bearings. The shear stiffness of the bearings decreases as the shear strain amplitude or the constant axial load level increases, but not sensitive to the strain rates effect. Bearings are strong for the axial compression but weak for the axial tension.

  • A nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) model is presented for simulating the behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tube (RACFST) beam-columns subjected to constant axial compressive load and cyclically increasing flexural loading. The FEA model was developed based on ABAQUS software package and a displacement-based approach was used. The proposed engineering stress versus engineering strain relationship of core concrete with the effect of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement ratio was adopted in the FEA model. The predicted results of the FEA model were compared with the experimental results of several RACFST as well as the corresponding concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) beam-columns under cyclic loading reported in the literature. The comparison results indicated that the proposed FEA model was capable of predicting the load versus deformation relationship, lateral bearing capacity and failure pattern of RACFST beam-columns with an acceptable accuracy. A parametric study was further carried out to investigate the effect of typical parameters on the mechanism of RACFST beam-columns subjected to cyclic loading.

  • This paper is an experimental study on shear capacity of the high strength R/C beams with a shear span-depth ratio between 1.5 and 2.5. a total of 15 beams was tested to determine diagonal cracking and ultimate shear strength. The major variables are shear span-depth ratio (a/d=1.5, 2.0. 2.5) , vertical shear reinforcements ratio(Vs = 0 , 25, 50, 75, 100% ( Vs = Pv/Pv(ACI)), and concrete compressive strength (f'c= 747㎏/㎠). Test results indicate that ACI 318-89 Eq(11-31) generally underestimates shear strength carried by vertical shear reinforcements, and the mode of failure may change from shear tension to shear compression for the beams having higher Vs than 75%, thus the effectiveness of r-fy on ultimate shear strength (vu) decreased.

  • Tubular joints having a large diameter in the offshore structure are reinforced using internal ring stiffener in order to increase the load carrying capacity. In this study, the static strengths of internally ring-stiffened tubular T-joints subjected to compressive brace loading are assessed. Nonlinear finite element analyses are used to compute the behavior of unstiffened and ring-stiffened T-joints. From the numerical results, internal ring stiffener is found to efficient in improving the ultimate capacity, and reinforcement effect are calculated. The influence of geometric parameters for members and ring is evaluated. Based on the FE results, regression analysis is performed considering practical sizes of ring stiffener, finally strength estimation formulae for ring-stiffened T-joints are proposed.

  • The present paper provides test data to evaluate the seismic performance of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) filled steel square hollow section (SHS) beam-columns. Fifteen specimens, including 12 RAC filled steel tubular (RACFST) columns and 3 reference conventional concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) columns, were tested under reversed cyclic flexural loading while subjected to constant axially compressive load. The test parameters include: (1) axial load level (n), from 0.05 to 0.47; and (2) recycled coarse aggregate replacement ratio (r), from 0 to 50%. It was found that, generally, the seismic performance of RACFST columns was similar to that of the reference conventional CFST columns, and RACFST columns exhibited high levels of bearing capacity and ductility. Comparisons are made with predicted RACFST beam-column bearing capacities and flexural stiffness using current design codes. A theoretical model for conventional CFST beam-columns is employed in this paper for square RACFST beam-columns. The predicted load versus deformation hysteretic curves are found to exhibit satisfactory agreement with test results.

  • In remodeling business or construction of both new strucures and existing structures, Case that pile foundation was set is often. Micro pile, holding compressive force and tensile force by spherical friction, is supported by skin friction rather than end bearing capacity. but, This is weak in tension. Active area of micro pile's skin friction is narrow and micro pile don't do unification behavior hence. So bearing capacity was not fully mobilized in existing researching. In this study, in order to compensate for this method, micro pile to install Resisting Fixture is proposed.
