This paper proposed a dual-band RF switch using a Composite Right/Left Handed transmission line(CRLH TL) and PIN diode. RF switch is usually consist of $\lambda/4$ Right Handed transmission line(RH TL) and PIN diode. The dual band characteristics of RF switch was achieved by using CRLH transmission line instead of RH transmission line. CRLH Open-Stub was designed for resolve to reduction of isolation due to Package Inductance of PIN diode. The proposed RF switch was designed at GSM and DCS frequency-band. The measurement results showed a good agreement with theoretical result.

Since the track pin is subjected to large transverse track tension from the track link, conventional track pins for high mobility vehicles are usually made of high strength steel, which increases the weight of tracked vehicles due to the high density of steel. In this paper, several composite materials were employed for track pin design to reduce weight of track pin as well as to enhance the fatigue life of rubber bushings. Especially the effects of shear stiffness of the composites on the life of rubber bushing were investigated.
This study surveys the physical properties of DTY composite yarns manufactured by pin, disk and belt texturing systems. For this purpose, 208d/36f POY PET and 40d/12f high shrinkable PET filaments are prepared for specimens. The composite yarns are manufactured with this texturized POY and high shrinkable PET filament using the pin, disk and belt type texturing machines. While the processing conditions of the pin and disk types texturing machines were fixed, those of a belt type texturing machine were varied with over feed to compare and analyze with the yarn physical properties of pin and disk type composite yarns.

A combined finite element and experimental study based on the characteristic length method is performed to investigate the strength and behavior of the pin joint in composite control rod. The failure is estimated by the Yamada-Sun and Tsai-Wu criteria on the characteristic curve. The gap elements are used to simulate the contact between the pin and the composite fitting with hole. The accuracy and applicability of the method are validated by the joint tests. All the specimens were failed in the bearing mode in the test and finite element analysis, and good agreement was found between the predicted and test results on the joint strength of composite control rod.

Stress analysis was conducted with finite element method to study the stress distributions in both single-pin and multi-pin loaded composite laminates. The various parameters involved in the design of the joint method were considered. The stress distributions in the vicinity of the holes were predicted considering the effects of various parameters such as the lay-ups, number of pins, number of rows, row spacing, and hole patterns. The results show that the performance of joint is greatly affected by these parameters.
The effect of stainless steel jagged-pin reinforcement on the pull-off strength of the composite hat-joint was studied by the test. The pins were physically and chemically surface-treated and inserted in the thickness direction over the interface where the skin and stiffener meet. The specimens including the jagged-pins were made by co-curing process. Diameters of the jagged-pins were 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 mm. The pin areal densities were set to 0.5 and 2.0% based on the interface area where the skin and stiffener meet. The specimens using 0.3 mm diameter normal (un-jagged) pins with 2.0% areal density were additionally fabricated and tested to investigate the pin shape effect on the pull-off strength. The pull-off strengths of specimens reinforced with 0.5% areal density by 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 mm diameter pins were 45, 19 and 9% higher than those of un-reinforced specimens, respectively. In case with 2.0% pin areal density, the strengths were 127, 45, and 11% higher than those of un-reinforced specimens, respectively. The test results show that the higher pin areal density results in the higher strength when the pin diameter is the same. When the pin areal density is the same, the smaller pin diameter leads to higher strength. When the joints using jagged-pins and normal pins in 2.0% areal density with 0.3 mm diameter, the joints of jagged-pins showed the 64% higher strength. From the results of this study, it was confirmed that jagged-pin reinforcement can be an effective method for improving the pull-off strength of composite hat-joint.
With the wide application of fiber-reinforced composite material in aero-structures and mechanical parts, composite joint have become a very important research area because they are often the weakest sites in composite structures. In this paper, the failure strengths of the bolted joint and pin joint which have variable hole clearance were evaluated and compared. From the tests, the first failure loads of the bolted joint and pin joint with $880{\mu}m$ hole clearance have decreased by 24.2 % and 51.3 % compared to those of joints with $0{\mu}m$ hole clearance, respectively. Also, the failure index of the joints were calculated by the finite element method and compared with experimental results.

In this paper, the dual-band voltage-controled oscillator (VCO) using the composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) and the tunable negative resistance based on the fin diode is presented. It is demonstrated that the CRLH TL can lead to metamaterial transmission line with the dual-band tuning capability. The dual-band operation of the CRLH TL is achieved by the frequency offset and the phase slope of the CRLH TL, and the frequency ratio of the two operating frequencies can be a non-integer. Each frequency band of VCO has to operate independently, so we have used the tunable negative resistance based on the pin diode. When the forward bias has been into the pin diode, the phase noise of VCO is $-108.34\sim-106.67$ dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz in the tuning range, $2.423\sim2.597$ GHz, whereas when the reverse bias has been fed into the pin diode, that of VCO is $-114.16\sim-113.33$ dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz in the tuning range, $5.137\sim5.354$ GHz.
With the wide applications of fiber-reinforced composite material in aero-structures and mechanical parts, the design of composite joints have become a very important research area because the joints are often the weakest areas in composite structures. This paper presents an analytical study of the stress distributions in mechanically single-fastened and multi-fastened composite laminates. The finite element models which treat the pin and hole contact problem using a contact stress analysis are described. A dimensionless stress concentration factor is used to compare the stress distributions in composite laminates quantitatively In the case of single-pin loaded composite laminate, the effects of stacking sequence, the ratio of a hole diameter and the width of a laminate (W/D ratio), the ratio of hole diameter and distance from edge to hole (E/D ratio), friction coefficient and clamping force are considered. In the case of multi-pin loaded composite laminate, the influence of the number of pins, pitch distance, number of rows, row spacing and hole pattern are considered. The results show that P/D ratio and E/D ratio affect more on stress distributions near the hole boundary than the other factors. In the case of multi-pin loaded composite laminate, the stress concentration in the double column case is better than the other cases of multi-pin loaded composite laminate.

As a preliminary study for the three dimensional failure analysis of composite joints, the three dimensional stress analysis on a pin-loaded unidirectional-fabric hybrid composite joints are performed. The contact and frictions between composite plate and metal bush are considered in the finite element method by NASTRAN. Experiments are conducted to validate the accuracy and feasibility of the finite element technique for 25 specimens with 5 different geometries. The finite element and experimental results show the bush cap induces the unsymmetric deformation, stress distribution, and failure behavior through the thickness. The experiment also shows the failure loads are higher in the joint with bush cap than without it.
