Development of Hybrid OCB Beam for the Long-span Building Structures (장경간 건축구조를 위한 하이브리드 OCB보의 개발)

  • The building structure in Korea is planned to maximize the use of space in recent. The hybrid OCB(Optimized Composite Beam) beam is developed to take advantage of using the space. The OCB beam is composed of the steel H-beam section reinforced by open strands in negative moment zone and the pretensioned PSC concrete section in positive zone. Flexural behavior of typical architectural hybrid OCB beam section was investigated by F.E.M. The 15m, 20m, 30m OCB models were tested on nonlinear material and geometry under static loading system. Following results are obtained from the analysis; 1)The OCB beam develop initial flexural cracking over full service loading. 2)Overall deflections of OCB beam under the service loads are less than those of the allowable limits in KCI Code(2012). 3)The ultimate load capacity get over the nominal strength of the OCB main section. The OCB beam is verified of structural reliability from the finite element analysis.

  • Tongwamen Bridge is a critical link between Dongmen Island and the land in Shipu town, Zhejiang province, China. It is a 238 m span, half-through, concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) X-type arch bridge. The width of the deck is only 10 m, yielding a width-to-span ratio of 1/23.8. The plane truss type section rib was adopted, which made of two CFST chords and web member system. The lateral stability is the key issue to this bridge. However, the existing researches on Tongwamen Bridge's lateral stability are all the deterministic structural analysis. In this paper, a new strategy for positioning sampling points of the response surface method (RSM), based on the composite method combining RSM with geometric method for structural reliability analysis, is employed to obtain the reliability index of lateral stability. In addition the correlated parameters were discussed in detail to find the major factors. According to the analysis results, increasing the stiff of lateral braces between the arch ribs and setting the proper inward-incline degree of the arch rib can enhance obviously the reliability of lateral stability. Moreover, the deck action of non-orienting force is less than the two factors above. The calculated results indicate that the arch ribs are safe enough to keep excellent stability, and it provides the foundation that the plane truss rib would be a competitive solution for a long-span, narrow, CFST arch bridge.

Shear Performance of RC Beams Using Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composite (DFRCC) (고인성 섬유 시멘트 복합재료를 사용한 RC보의 전단보강효과)

  • This paper presents the results of experimental investigations on the shear failure behaviors of reinforced concrete beams using ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite (DFRCC). Total 10 RC beams of $150{\times}300{\times}1,000mm$ size were tested by 4-point bending under the displacement control. The main parameters of the experiment are surface treatment by grinding and preloading to the cracking point in the repair process. The load-displacement curves, diagonal tension cracking load, flexural cracking load, and shear strength were obtained. The test results showed that the DFRCC can be used effectively for restoring the shear strength approximately 99% to the original value under the condition that the appropriate thickness and surface treatment like grinding are assured. For further research, the specimens taken from real deteriorated structures will need to be tested after being repaired with DFRCC.

An Experimental Study on Structural Performance of HRC Composite Beam according to types of Connection Plate with Stud Bolts (HRC 복합보의 연결플레이트 보강법에 따른 구조성능실험)

  • Recently, for the purpose of reducing work terms and improving performance for construction work, various methods in structure field were developed. This included the HRC system which is applicable to a typical structure (e.g., parking and office building). The HRC system introduced the Gerber Joint to raise structural efficiency and used connection plate to bolt HRC composite beam to H beam in the construction field. In this research, the experimental tests for six specimens, which were in the same field conditions, were conducted with several parameters such as the length and height of the connection plate and the number of stub bolts. The test result was compared with those made by current design codes for the deflection and strains of the main bar. Within the given load, the integration of concrete in beam and connection plate, welded with stud bolts, was verified.

The Structural Characteristics of Non-slip Device in Connecting Method Between Steel Pipe Pile and Footing (미끌림 방지턱을 이용한 강관말뚝 머리 결합부의 구조특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • To find the structural characteristics of non-slip device in connecting method B between steel pipe pile and concrete footing, compression and uplift test was performed for full sized specimens not having non-slip device, those having non-slip device with two curved steel plate bars welded inside the steel pipe pile(standard method), and those having non-slip device with serveral curved steel plate bars bolted inside the steel pipe pile(new method). As a result, specimens not having non-slip device had chemical debonding failure at 15.6tonf of peak uplift load and 27.57tonf of peak compression load. And the standard method and the new method showed about 8.9 times of peak uplift load and 6.2 times of peak compression load higher than specimens not having non-slip device. The load transfers of lower non-slip devices of the standard method and the new method were similar in behavior, while the higher non-slip device of the new method showed higher ratio of load transfer than that of the standard method. And these two methods had nearly the same composite action and structural capacity caused by non-slip devices.

  • The factors affecting the shear strength of the angle shear connectors in the steel-concrete composite beams can play an important role to estimate the efficacy of a composite beam. Therefore, the current study has aimed to verify the output of shear capacity of angle shear connector according to the input provided by Support Vector Machine (SVM) coupled with Firefly Algorithm (FFA). SVM parameters have been optimized through the use of FFA, while genetic programming (GP) and artificial neural networks (ANN) have been applied to estimate and predict the SVM-FFA models' results. Following these results, GP and ANN have been applied to develop the prediction accuracy and generalization capability of SVM-FFA. Therefore, SVM-FFA could be performed as a novel model with predictive strategy in the shear capacity estimation of angle shear connectors. According to the results, the Firefly algorithm has produced a generalized performance and be learnt faster than the conventional learning algorithms.

  • This study was based on an experiment that examines the manufacture and performance of fiber-reinforced cement composite panels. The conclusions were drawn after testing the mechanical properties and durability characteristics of fiber-reinforced mortar, and the mechanical properties and fire resistance of ECC fire resistant column panels. It was found that the fluidity of CEL fiber was lower than that of PVA and NY fiber. The amount of air increased slightly as the combination of fibers caused the number of fine pores to increase. It was found that the mechanical performance and deformability of high strength concrete could be improved through the confinement effect of ECC fire resistant column panels. Through continuous studies on the manufacturing and field construction methods of fire resistant column panels, a new PC method that eliminates weakness in the existing processes may be developed for skyscrapers.

Development of Oil Leakage Stability Evaluation for Composite Aterproofing Methods using Asphalt Mastic and Modified Asphalt Sheet in Concrete Structure (콘크리트 구조물에 사용되는 개량아스팔트 시트와 아스팔트 매스틱을 복합화한 방수공법의 누유안정성 평가방법 개발)

  • In this study, a revised oil leakage evaluation method for assessing oil leakage stability of asphalt mastics used in upper slabs of below-grade residential parking lots was developed and presented. In order to verify the reliability and reproducibility of leakage results, the parameters the revised evaluation was carried out for three products with actual leakage history, and it was confirmed the leaks could be reproduced whereas the existing methods could not. To quantitatively verify the reproducibility, the filler content of the leaked samples was derived and the maximum filler content was 64% lower than that of the normal sample. The same results was found with the samples from the actual leakage site, thus verifying the reliability of the revised evaluation method.

  • A sprayable waterproofing membrane which has relatively high adhesive property onto concrete enables faster construction with better waterproof performance compared with a conventional sheet membrane. However, the sprayable waterproofing membrane is a recently developed material and its performance and behavior with structures are not sufficiently reported. Therefore, in this study, the shear behavior of sprayable waterproofing membrane was numerically analyzed using the results of previous studies of composite shotcrete with sprayable waterproofing membrane. From the previous study, shear behavior of shotcrete with sprayable waterproofing membrane was different from shotcrete case and there was a limitation to express the behavior of the interface in general shear strength method. Therefore, in this study, the direct shear test was numerically simulated using two contact models, and then the best suitable method to express the shear behavior of the sprayable waterproofing membrane was suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural performance of press-formed type asymmetric column to beam connections of steel-PC composite module frames. Most of the column sections of the joints making up the modular frame use a closed square steel section. The column-beam connection using the closed column section has difficulty in reducing the workability and securing the fire resistance. In order to overcome this disadvantage, concrete is filled in the asymmetrical open type cross section of the steel plate by press forming. A total of four specimens were fabricated to investigate the structural performance of press formed type asymmetric column to beam connections. The experimental results show that the structural performance and behavior of the asymmetric columns are different depending on whether the asymmetric column cross section is composited or the column width thickness ratio. The structural performance of the press formed type asymmetric column to beam connection was evaluated by comparing the experimental results with the theoretical formulas.
