  • For the Mo-tip field emitter array, the method by which the geometrical structure of the gate insulator wall could be modified in order to improve field emission properties(turn-on voltage and gate leakage current). The device having a gate insulator of complex shape, which means the combined geometrical structure with round shape made by wet etching and vertical shape made by dry etching processes, was fabricated and the field emission properties of the three kinds of devices were compared. As a result, the electric field applied to tip apex could be increased and gate leakage current could be decreased by employing the gate insulator having geometrical wall structure of mixed shape. Finally, the obtained empirical results were analyzed by simulation of electric field distribution at/near the tip apex and gate insulator using SNU-FEAT simulator.

  • A feasibility study on the alternating jet flow under the static electromagnetic field was carried out. When a fluid with electrical conductivity lies in the static electromagnetic field and moves electric current occurs in the fluid. Due to the electromagnetic field and the electric current, lorentz force generates in the fluid, which undergo the 'breaking' effect to the fluid. In order to simulate the complex fluid flow in the magnetic field, electromagnetic and fluid flow analysis need to be solved simultaneously. In the present study, a SOLA (SOLution Algorithm) scheme was used in order to calculate electromagnetic and fluid flow field. Jet flow without an electromagnetic field was compared with analytical solution in order to validate the flow analysis scheme. Effect of jet velocity on the flow pattern down the jet was investigated.

  • In this research we have used the definition of standard fractional vector cross product to obtain fractional curl and fractional field of a standing wave, a travelling wave, a transverse wave, a vector field in xy plane, a complex vector field and an electric field. Fractional curl and fractional field for a complex order are also discussed. We have supported the study with calculation of impedance at γ = 0, 0 < γ < 1, γ = 1. The formula discussed in this paper are useful for study of polarization, reflection, impedance, boundary conditions where fractional solutions have applications.

  • In the present study, a numerical analysis on electrohydrodynamics (EHD) of the flow and the collection mechanisms inside a electrostatic precipitator with a spiral spike electrode were investigated. The phenomena of the electrostatic precipitator include complex interactions between the electric field, the fluid flow and the particle motion. To validate the numerical method, the numerical computation for the electric field of a simple wire-pipe type electrostatic system having an analytic solution were performed. Using this numerical method, the electric field of the spiked electrostatic precipitator was simulated. And the fluid flow and the particle motion inside the spiked electrostatic precipitator were numerically analyzed.

공기 압력과 전기장이 접목된 액적 분무에 관한 연구 (Atomization of Liquid Via a Combined System of Air Pressure and Electric Field)

  • Conventional electrospray and air spray methods have the vulnerabilities of limited flow rate (throughput) and droplet size, respectively. Since high throughput with uniform size of droplet is required for various applications, an improved technique should be adopted. Here, we report a combined system of an air pressure and an electric field and evaluate the atomization performance of it. The air flow allowed applying high flow rate range and the electric field reinforced the atomization process to generate fine droplets. A correlation between two forces was investigated by comparing the droplet produced by each method. The atomized droplets were measured and visualized by image processing and a particle image velocimetry (PIV). The quantitative results were achieved from the parametric space and the effect of both forces was analyzed. The motion of charged droplets followed the outer electric field rather than the complex vortex in the shear layer so that the droplets accelerated directly toward the grounded collector.

An Electric-Field Coupled Power Transfer System with a Double-sided LC Network

  • Electric-field coupled power transfer (ECPT) systems employ a high frequency electric field as an energy medium to transfer power wirelessly. Existing ECPT systems have made great progress in terms of increasing the transfer distance. However, the topologies of these systems are complex, and the transfer characteristics are very sensitive to variations in the circuit parameters. This paper proposes an ECPT system with a double-sided LC network, which employs a parallel LC network on the primary side and a series LC network on the secondary side. With the same transfer distance and output power, the proposed system is simpler and less sensitive than existing systems. The expression of the optimal driving voltage for the coupling structure and the characteristics of the LC networks are also analyzed, including the transfer efficiency, parameter sensitivity and total harmonic distortion. Then, a design method for the system parameters is provided according to these characteristics. Simulations and experiments have been carried out to verify the system properties and the design method.

펄스 전기장 처리에 의한 수용액의 물성 변화 (Property Change of Solution by Pulsed Electric Field Treatment)

  • 본 연구에서는 펄스 전기장 처리장치를 이용하여 물, 계면활성제 그리고 휴믹산의 물리화학적 변화 특성을 검토하였다. 펄스 전기장 처리에 따른 물의 구조적 특성변화를 검토한 결과, FT-IR 분석에서 C-N 복합구조와 C=O 구조에서 변화가 일어나는 것으로 나타났으며, NMR 분석에서는 물분자의 운동속도 증가폭이 최소 2.3 Hz에서 9.9 Hz로 나타났다. 각각의 계면활성제를 펄스 전기장 처리 한 결과, 양이온 계면활성제와 음이온 계면활성제의 CMC는 각각 1.3%와 9.2% 낮아지는 것으로 나타났고, UV-vis 값은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 휴믹산은 펄스 전기장 처리를 할 경우 UV-vis 값이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 펄스 전기장 처리는 물과 유기화합물의 구조적 특성변화에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
