This study investigates the technical level and industrial structure for the case of the Gazelle industry in Chungnam Province. As a results of the empirical study, the Gazelle industry of Chungnam Province shows a competitive position in terms of scale and growth capacity, which. in turn, provides income and tax collection effects due to the high level of industrial efficiency. Among the Gazelle industry of Chungnam Province, low-level technology industry, compared to high and middle-level technology industries, accelerates higher level of agglomeration and industrial growth, which provides a rapid change of industrial structure of the province. Theses research results imply that research and development investment in the Gazelle industry is essential and industrial development strategy should be conducted via step-by-step with business scale quotient (BQ) and industrial growth rate (IG). Meanwhile, there should be a serious policy review whether low-level technology industry is better off for the province compared to high and middle-level technology industries. This study expects that regional industrial policy applying the concept of Gazelle industry can accelerate regional development since the Gazelle industry contributes to the high level of income growth and employment creation.

Recently, It became possible to transport freights and energy resources via Northern Sea Route(NSR) as global warming has been accelerated. As a result, all countries of the world and Korean local governments have had a struggle to take the advantageous position first in NSR development. However, this extreme competitions might have a negative effect on the national port industry and cause unnecessary social costs and economic losses. Therefore, the main target of this study is to find the most suitable port for NSR using AHP analysis. Most of the data was gained from previous literatures and public statistics and the weight of each factor was calculated by the result of expert survey. As a result, Busan port has the biggest competitiveness, followed by Yeosu Gwangyang, Ulsan and Incheon. From the result, this study suggested 3 possible scenarios. The first scenario specializing Busan port in NSR focuses more on developing the related businesses such as repair of ships, refueling, ship stores trade than attracting the more cargoes. the second is a strategy to make Ulsan port as a hub for energy resources, especially liquid cargo on NSR. the last is a mixed one to assign suitable roles to the ports according to their competitive capabilities.

This study is to suggest the current security education programs and improvement of industrial security curriculums in Korea. We live in a world of insecurity; the world is changing at an ever accelerating pace. Life, society, economics, international relations, and security risk are becoming more and more complex. The nature of work, travel, recreation, and communication is radically changing. We live in a world where, seemingly with each passing year, the past is less and less's guide to the future. Security is involved in on one way or another in virtually every decision we make and every activity we undertake. The global environment has never been more volatile, and societal expectations for industrial security and increasing if anything. The complexities of globalization, public expectation, regulatory requirements, transnational issues, jurisdictional risks, crime, terrorism, advances in information technology, cyber attacks, and pandemics have created a security risk environment that has never been more challenging. We had to educate industrial security professional to cope with new security risk. But, how relevant is a college education to the security professional? A college degree will not guarantee a job or advancement opportunities. But, with a college and professional training, a person has improved chances for obtaining a favored position. Commonly, Security education and experience are top considerations to find a job so far, also training is important. Today, Security is good source to gain competitive advantage in global business. The future of security education is prospect when one considers the growth evident in the field. Modern people are very security-conscious today, so now we had to set up close relevant industrial security programs to cope with new security risk being offered in colleges or several security professional educational courses.

Whereas the early financial information technology invested a large amount of investment on developing and adopting its own new systems. it is now focusing on reducing expenses and improving internal efficiency but applied for securing a company's competitive advantage considering the long term strategic level. As relevant researches, studies on information system quality and performance are actively going on. In previous research, the relations of the influence on the financial performance by information system quality or absorption capacity have been reviewed. In other words, the information system quality and absorptive capacity, respectively, in the position of the independent variables have been studied as a factor to have a significant effect on financial performance while the research on the relationship between these two variables is lacking. Thus, in this researches, quality of financial information systems and the absorptive capacity, respectively, as independent variables and parameters on the mediating effect on the financial performance were researches. As a result, quality of financial information systems showed a positive effect on the performance of company, the absorption capacity was perfect to play the role of mediating one. However, absorptive capacity as an independent variable has a positive impact on financial performance, but the quality of financial information systems as a parameter was not affected in any manner.

Purpose - The structure of retailing has changed as retailers develop markets in response to business environment changes. This study aims to analyze the general situation of retailers in order to predict future global strategy using case studies of overseas expansion strategy and the Metro Group's global strategy. Research design, data, and methodology - The backgrounds to the new retail business model and retailer classification are analyzed as theoretical data. In addition, the key success point of the Metro Group's "cash and carry" strategy is analyzed as is the Metro Group's global CFAR (collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment) strategy. Finally, the plan for cooperation and precise forecasting under the Metro Group's supply chain management are analyzed from the promotion environment viewpoint. Related materials analyzed included the 2012 annual report, the Metro Group's web page, and a video interview with the executive in charge of global strategy and the new market development department. Some data were revised to avoid disrupting essential aspects of the case studies. Results - The important finding was that the Metro Group could be a world-class retail company with its successful global expansion strategy. The Metro Group's global strategy's primary goal is to have a leading business position in Eastern and Western Europe. The "cash and carry" strategy is highest priority in its overseas expansion strategy. Moreover, the Metro Group has standardized product planning capacity, which could be applied in various countries with different structural and cultural backgrounds. This is the main reason that the Metro Group could rapidly become successful in the Eastern Europe and Asian markets through its structural overseas expansion strategies. In addition, the Metro Group emphasizes the importance of supply chain management. Conclusions - First, retailers should create additional value through utilizing the domestic market, market power, and economies of scale to launch a global strategy to maximize benefits from diversification. Second, the political, economic, and cultural background of the target country needs to be understood to successfully implement the overseas expansion strategy. Third, the main factor of successful cooperation with a local partner is how quickly the company gains total understanding of the business resources and core competence of its partner. All organizations should focus on the achievement of goals in order to successfully operate the partnership. Fourth, retailers should improve their business, financial and organizational structure. Moreover, the work processes and company culture should also be improved to respond strongly in the competitive global market. Fifth, the essential point of a successful retail business is the control capacity of its branding and format. The retailer could avoid forecasting errors through supply chain management by perfectly distributing the actual amount of its inventory. In addition, the risks along the supply chain are effectively shared between the supply chain partners. Finally, the central tendency of the market is to gain in strength with this taking place across all parts of the business.

Scientometrics means the metrics of science, and it plays a role in the measurement of scientists' activities by using research results like papers. Objective numerical values or indicators obtained by scientometric analysis may make a significant contribution to correct evaluation by excluding political or relationship bias or revealing significant researchers or their research fields that have been assessed relatively lower for their performance. In the period when the scale of technology was relatively large, such as for the development of heavy chemistry, it was possible to make a not-bad selection by an assessment made only with the intuition of the assessor. However, it is nearly impossible for experts with a narrow knowledge in a field to judge the direction of change correctly as the current science technology changes rapidly and tremendously. Even in an assessment of research performance of researchers or research institutions, only some notable researchers are able to attract attention owing to the Metthew effect, and the majority who have accumulated research results in depth are not able to receive reasonable research funding. Therefore, it might be natural that there is a growing need for assessment using scientometrics. The purpose of this research is to suggest some applicable scientometric techniques for an assessment of research performance to science and technology researchers and policy planners. In order to accomplish this, we used a frequency analysis of papers and its citations to assess the research performance of researchers, institutions, and countries for OLED technology as a case study. Furthermore, we position detailed technologies for OLED technology as arriving, growing, maturing, and declining technology by utilizing several network analysis techniques, make groups with researchers and institutions of same research interest. And we review the current international joint research of Korea, China, and Japan, who are in a competitive relationship. Also, at the end of each analysis result, we describe what kind of assessment should be available to Korean policy planners and research managers for such scientometric analysis results.

The health care environment becomes more competitive every day. It has fallen to nurse managers - from vice presidents of patient care to nurse managers and their assistants - to recruit and develop a workforce that successfully meets the needs of both patients and the organization. This means employees who demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills, creative problem solving, and sound decision making skills combined with clinical skills and patient advocacy. The environment which nurse managers create and the way they relate to their workforce, are pivotal to organizational viability. Especially leadership of first -line nurse managers contributes to the success of their organizations. First-line nurse managers are deserved to be one of the most administrative supervisors through the middle stratum in a hospital organization as being a manager in the field service if assessed from the overall aspects of hospital, as being an interim managers in the nursing department as well as being a supreme supervisor in a unit in terms of an organizational structure in the hospital. Similarly, as a compete leader, the first-line nurse managers have not only a professional which is qualified to perform a role of appropriate coordination with medical staff and key personnel but also hold an important key position a being responsible for performing his or her given role. The first-line nurse manager is expected to manage human and fiscal resources in ways not required before. While an identified need for well-prepared first-line nurse manager continues to plague the profession, first-line nurse managers often have difficulty providing the leadership required. The need leadership training to function effectively in their positions. But we hardly find a useful leadership training program for first-line nurse managers, therefore the purpose of this study was to developed the leadership training program for them. The steps of leadership program development were below: 1st step, 2 studies were done before develop a leadership program. One was done to ask to first-line nurse managers what they want to learn through leadership training, the other one was to ask the staff nurses what their opinions are for their first-line nurse managers leadership. 2nd step was searching other leadership programs contents. The results of this study were below: The total amount of hours is 24. Leadership training program contents are : Future of nursing profession (210min), understanding basic factor's of leadership and leadership theories(310 min), self understanding as first- line nurse managers(320 min), basic principle and practice of interpersonal relationship(210 min), assertiveness training, conflict management (180min), and group study(210min). This is challenging time to be a leader, especially in nursing. As nurse managers look toward the new millennium, it seems as through the same struggles are ahead that are behind. So nurse managers need to embrace change with a positive attitude. They need to demonstrate risk taking and support it in their staffs. All these things are possible that after they participate the leadership training program.

The purpose of this paper is to suggest to tackle the problem of poor cooperation in space activities, by re-examining the nature of the competitive political environment, and by building up a normative overarching framework, One of the most acute problems that hampers regional cooperation is the U.S. influence as represented in the MTCR, a supplier's cartel, as was evidenced in the ill-fate of the 2001 launch contract between China and Korea the next year. Notably China, the third space power in the world, has not been allowed to join the MTCR despite her application in June 2004. A possible reconciliation between China and the MTCR over her application for a partnership would set a cornerstone in building up a cooperative environment in the Northeast Asia. Just as the Helsinki process was an overarching norm building framework, comprising human rights, security and environmental issues, it would be desirable that a future peace framework in Northeast Asia dealing with the pending issues of Korean peninsula should also comprise of such broad issues as one relating to cooperation in space activities in the region. South Korea could tap expertise from her neighbor China. When South Korea become an independent space power either with her own technology or otherwise, she would be in a better position to play a role as a balancer in coordinating between the two neighboring space giants. It is remarkable that the Japanese led APRSAT has contributed much in establishing Sentinel Asia as a part of the Disaster Management Scheme, in that each participant, whether it be a state agency, or a private entity like a university or a research institute, can tap the common data to contribute to the common good of safety.

Recently, executives learned of the strategic impact that information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) could provide to their organizations. In other words, through IS/IT companies could squelch competition, secure suppliers, obtain customer loyalty, reduce the threat of new entrants, and identify new opportunities. Because of these potential benefits, organizations are investing ever-increasing amount of organizational resources in IS/IT to make their organizations as information-based ones. Information-based organizations depend largely upon computer hardwares and softwares for their ongoing operations and management. Thus, organizations must manage their information resources, especially hardwares and softwares very effectively to remain competitive. Information resource management (IRI) is a program of activities directed at making effective use of information technology within an organization. These activities cover from corporate IS/IT planning to application system development, implementation, and maintenance. In more detail, IRV activities include planning for and acquiring computer hardwares and communication equipments, planning for, selection, and management of software development projects, and re-engineering business processes as IS/IT are integrated into organizational management. Among these activities, planning for and acquisition of computer hardwares, and planning for and management of software projects are the most critical ones since these activities require enormous amount of such important corporate resources as money, people, and time. Furthermore, corporate's eventual success largely depends upon whether corporate's policy on IS/IT is effective one or not. Numerous approaches and concepts to specific IRM activities have been proposed. However, many organizations have experienced various problems in the process of applying these approaches to their IRM activities mainly because existing methodologies and guidelines are too general to adapt to each firm's unigue situation. Also, these approaches are having its own strengths and weaknesses. Thus, people in charge of organization's IRM policy should come up with effective guidelines to maintain his position very long. In this study, we reviewed some existing approaches for planning, evaluation, and acquisition of computer hardware. Then, real experiences from Taechang Steel Co., Ltd. located in Taegu, which is one of the largest Coil Service Centers in Korea, are discussed. The major purposes of the study are : (1) to discuss the tradeoffs of existing approaches on hardware evaluation and acquisition, (2) to provide a real experience of a company to facilitate the application of theoretical concepts to the real environment.

To evaluate the potential of Hypochoeris radicata L. for the development of environment-friendly organic materials, its growth characteristics, allelopathic effects and antifungal activity was investigated. The growth characteristics of H. radicata L. was investigated by measuring comparative number of shoot and flower, and the diameters of clones in mowing areas and non-mowing areas, respectively. As a result, the number of shoot and flower, and diameters of clones of H. radicata L. grown in mowing areas were much higher than those grown in non-mowing areas. Water extracts of H. radicata L. inhibited seed germination, and shoot, root and root hair growth of 14 test plants including Trifolium pratense, Festuca myuros, Bidens bipinnata and finally reduced heir biomass remarkably. The inhibitory effect of the extract was different depending on the kind and the part of tested plants. The extracts showed high antifungal activity against Pythium spp. and Phytophthora However, it showed comparably less antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani than Pythium spp. and Phytophthora. In conclusion, cutting H. radicata L. resulted increase of its vegetative and seed propagation and helped it to form large colony. Also it had an effect on growth of microbes and germination and growth of other plants. Therefore H. radicata L. holds the competitive dominant position in plant ecosystem in Jeju Island and it can be used as candidate of environment-friendly organic materials.
