  • Web system helps high-performance processing for big-data analysis and practical use to make various information using IT resources. The government have started the RPS system in 2012. The system invigorates the electricity production as using renewable energy equipment. The government operates system gathered big-data with various related information system data and the system users are distributed geographically. The companies have to fulfill the system, are available to purchase the REC to other electricity generation company sellers to procure REC for their duty volumes. The REC market operates single auction methods with users a competitive price. But the price have the large variation with various user trading strategy and sellers situations. This papler proposed RPS system modeling and simulation in web environment that is modeled in geographically distributed computing environment for web user with DEVS W/S. Web simulation system base on web service helps to analysis correlation and variables that act on trading price and volume within RPS big-data and the analysis can be forecast REC price.

  • In recent, the importance and necessity of some studies on reliability evaluation of grid comes from the recent black-out accidents occurred in the world. The quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important under competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power under the deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. This paper introduces features and operation modes of the Transmission Reliability Evaluation for Large-Scale Systems(TRELSS) Version 5_1, a program made in EPRI, for assessing reliability indices of composite power system. The package accesses not only bulk but also buses indices for reliability evaluation of composite powers system. The characteristics of the TRELSS program are illustrated by the case studies using the IEEE 25buses system.

The quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important under competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power under the deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. The various results of many case studies for the IEEE 25buses system using the Transmission Reliability Evaluation for Large-Scale Systems(TRELSS) Version 5_1, a program made in EPRI are introduced in this paper. Some sensitivity analysis has been included. This paper suggests that the some important input parameters of the TRELSS can be determined optimally from this sensitivity analysis for high reliability level operation of a system.

  • The power systems should be improved to reduce the number of black-out events occurring throughout the world. Quantitative evaluation of composite power system reliability is very important in a competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power systems under a deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. This paper presents sensitivity analysis of probabilistic reliability indices of Korea power systems with checking application of HTS-FCL.

  • The most concerning issue of these days is the energy crisis caused by increasing threat of dependence on imported oil and volatile market trend. Under these circumstances, the PHEV(plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) is drawing attention for the next generation's car which could give a chance to decrease the dependence on imported oil and reduce the environmental impact of vehicle. The fueling cost of PHEV, one of the core factor of decision about buying car, should be calculated in the circumstances of Korea to make sure that PHEV has competitive power in real market. The fuel cost saving of PHEV versus CV(conventional vehicle) is simulated and discussed in the condition of increasing gasoline cost, electricity rate, and city-gas rate. In conclusion, the PHEV60-FS shows the best economic feasibility when gasoline price goes up. The PHEV20 has the most stable economic feasibility as electricity rate increases. The fuel cell cogeneration system for RPG could be an alternative for charger of PHEV in the near future.

  • In this paper, we estimate whether changes in the economic environment a firm operates in affects technical efficiency. Since efficiency gains can manifest themselves in a variety of ways, we estimate for efficiency gains on annual generating plants input demand for expenses and fuel use. We find that generating plants reduced their workers and costs respectively by 6.8% in 1999 and 37.9% in 2001. However, they didn't show any systematic caloric consumption changes facing various economic environmental shocks. These results suggest that restructuring brought efficiency gains by replacing regulated monopoly with a more competitive firms in the context of the Korean electricity market.

  • Transmission networks play an important role which transfer generated electric power to a consumer in power system operation. In a competitive environment of electric power industry, developing the technological criterions and methodologies on transmission planning is becoming new challenge to transmission system planner. The use of a locational signal and the provision of a indicative plan to control the transmission investment reasonably is very important in the viewpoint of a regulator. The main target of this study is to develop a systematic criterion of transmission expansion planning. And system congestion cost is considered. The proposed methodology was demonstrated with several case studies.

  • In recent years, the electric utility industry in Korea has undergone fast change. Private power generation has been introduced by competitive bidding to improve economic efficiency and to strengthen the competitive generation market. In these private generation projects, the yearly pattern of purchase price between the utility and IPPs is very important. Currently, the levelized payment schedule is applied to capacity payment, and price escalation rates are reflected to energy payment. In this paper, we Proposed different patterns of payment and analyzed the outcomes. As a result, we found possibility of applying the partial front-loading pattern in Korean market to share the risk of the long-term business. And, the importance of discount rate is also found.

  • A competitive generating company (GENCO) could maximize its payoff by optimizing its generation assets. This paper considers the GENCO's arbitrage problem using price-based unit commitment (PBUC). The GENCO could consider arbitrage opportunities in purchases from qualifying facilities (QFs) as well as simultaneous trades with spots markets for energy, ancillary services, emission, and fuel. Given forecasted hourly market prices for each market, the GENCO's generating asset arbitrage problem is formulated as a mixed integer program (MIP) and solved by a branch-and-cut algorithm. A GENCO with 54 thermal and 12 combined-cycle units is considered for analyzing the proposed formulation. The proposed case studies illustrate the significance of simultaneous arbitrage by applying PBUC to multi-commodity markets.
