  • In this paper we propose the force controller using a neural network for a redundant manipulator. Jacobian transpose matrix of a redundant manipulator constructed by a neural network is trained by using a feedback torque as an error signal. If the neural network is sufficiently trained well, the kinematic inaccuracy of a manipulator is automatically compensated. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated by computer simulation using a three-link planar robot.

  • This paper describes numerical modeling for thermal characteristic of vapor-cooled current leads under pulse operation. The transient thermal analysis considers the temperature difference between a helium gas (low and a copper lead and temperature dependent properties of helium gas, copper and stainless steel. This numerical modeling was compensated and validated by an experiment with commercially available 100 A vapor-cooled current leads. A proper overloading factor was suggested for the current leads under pulse operation through this modeling, which can significantly reduce heat input to a cryostat.

  • In this paper, the voltage-fed series compensated inductor type load-resonant high-frequency inverter is originally presented for driving a newly-developed silent discharge ozone generating tube. The effective power regulation scheme of this ozonizer is proposed, which is based on PDM (Pulse Density Modulation) related PWM strategy due to DSP implementation. The effectiveness of this inverter type ozonizer is proved in simulation and experiment.

  • The current source inverter-fed induction motor(CSIM) drive is widely used in industry because of its four quadrant operation, fuseless protection, fuseless protection, and ruggedness. the CSIM drive system, however, has shortcomins such as slow response and dynamic stability to load torque disturbance and reference speed change. Such a disadvantages can be compensated considerably by means of introducing additional angle angle control loop. The angle control method is dependent upon the inverter type. In this paper, simultaneus recovery and commutation inverter(SRCI) which is developed recently is considered.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the tension control in a web transport system. Direct self-tuning regulator method was applied to tension controller and variable-gain PID control algorithm was applied to web speed controller. The designed controllers compensated for the time-varying parameters and tracked reference tension in process speed changing. The simulation shows that direct STR tension controller improves tension control performance in comparison with other controllers.

  • In this study, a position and force simultaneous trajectory tracking control algorithm is proposed for a driving apparatus that consists of two pneumatic cylinders connected in series. The controller applied to the driving apparatus is composed of a non-interaction controller to compensate for interaction between cylinders and a disturbance observer aimed to reduce the effect of model discrepancy that cannot be compensated by the non-interaction controller. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is proved by experimental results.

  • A study on the measuring and evaluation of LSC(Least Square Center) roundness was carried out. The experimental set-up was made by index head and indicator, and the measuring data were compensated by a developed computer program. The results obtained are as follows : 1) An index head can conveniently be used to measure LSC roundness. 2) A program for calculating LSC roundness is developed. 3) Without a high quality roundnes measuring apparatus, LSC roundness can be measured and calculated by using index head and the developed program in machine shop as well as in a measuring room

  • The transfer matrix method is proposed to compensate the attachment effect of a piezo-electric impedance head. To validate the proposed method, an experiment is carried out for axial vibration of a uniform rod for which an analytical solution is known. The impedance head is attached to the test rod by a stud and is connected to the exciter. The frequency response function is mesured by applying random excitation from the electro-magnetic exciter. The frequency response function compensated by the method proposed in this research shows good agreement with the analytical solution.

  • The investigation of subsynchronous resonance by utilities has resulted in proposed and applied method to mitigate or eliminate SSRdamage to turbine generators. Many papers presented various methods and devices that can be used as countermeasures for the SSR. This paper introduced the availability of Superconducting magnet energy storage as an countermeasure for the SSR in the capacitor compensated transmission line.
