피라미드 구조 및 국부 오차 보상을 이용한 물체지향 부호화 (Object-oriented coder using pyramid structure and local residual compensation)

  • In this paper, we propse an object-oriented coding method in low bit-rate channels using pyramid structure and residual image compensation. In the motion estimation step, global motion is estimated using a set of multiresolution images constructed in a pyramid structure. We split an input image into two regions based on the gradient value. Regions with larte motions obtain observation points at low resolution level to guarantee robustness to noise and to satisfy a motion constraint equation whereas regions with local motions such as eye, and lips get observation points at the original resolution level. Local motion variations and intesity variations of an image reconstructed by the golbal motion are compensated additionally by using the previous residual image component. Finally, the model failure (MF) region is compensated by the pyramid mapping of the previous displaced frame difference (DFD). Computer simulation results show that the proposed method gives better performance that the convnetional one in terms of the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), compression ratio (CR), and computational complexity.

  • This paper presents an $H_{\infty}$ based robust STATCOM supplementary controller design to suppress the SSR in series-compensated line. This controller is designed to have the robust stability against the plant model uncertainty. Time domain simulations using a nonlinear system model show that the proposed STATCOM supplementary controller can suppress the SSR efficiently against the plant model uncertainty

  • This paper presents a distance relaying algorithm for transmission line compensated with Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC). The compensation voltage driven by SSSC is calculated from the line current measured at a relaying point Then the compensation voltage is subtracted from the voltage measured by the relay. We can apply conventional distance relaying algorithm with this subtracted voltage to locate a fault. The results of case studies using EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transient Program) show the proposed algorithm has higher precision.

  • Recently, due to the tremendous growth of media technology, demands of the aspheric glass lens which is a high-performance and miniaturized is gradually increasing. Generally, the aspheric glass lens is manufactured by GMP(Grass Molding Press) method using WC(tungsten carbide) mold core. In this study, the thermal deformation which occurs in the cooling step of GMP was considered, and it was compensated the form of mold core. The lens which was molded by compensated mold core was satisfied that can be applied to the actual specifications.

  • In this article, process voltage temperature (PVT) compensated on-chip oscillator is implemented by using proportional to absolute temperature (PTAT) circuit and process compensator. Process compensator circuit based on current subtracter and PTAT circuit are proposed for compensation of oscillation frequency to cope with process variation and temperature variation. All circuit can operate in the range of $3.5{\sim}5\;V$ supply voltage. It can be applied to PVT insensitive low frequency clock reference generator.

  • 본 논문에서는 rail-to-rail 복합입력단을 갖는 증폭회로의 옵셋전압을 보상해주기 위한 방법을 제안하고 집적회로로 구현하였다. 두 개의 보조증폭회로와 옵셋보상 커패시터들을 사용하여 NMOS 차동쌍과 PMOS 차동쌍의 옵셋을 각각 보상하고, ping-pong control을 사용하여 연속시간 동작이 가능한 3V rail-to-rail CMOS 증폭회로를 설계하였다. 설계된 증폭회로를 0.8㎛ single-poly double metal CMOS 공정으로 제작한 후 성능을 측정한 결과, 옵셋보상후의 옵셋전압은 옵셋보상전에 비해 약 20배정도 감소하였다.

보상 퍼지 제어기를 이용한 비선형 시스템의 안정화 (Stabilization of nonlinear systems using compensated fuzzy controllers)

  • The objective of this paper is to present a controller-design method that can guarantee the global stability for nonlinear systems described by takagi-sugeno fuzzy models, and to apply the method to a typical nonlinear control problem. The presented method gives us a compensated fuzzy controller through the following major steps: First, if each local linear model of a given takagi-sugeno fuzzy system does not have the same input matrix, the method expands the system into the one with a method finds a takagi-sugeno fuzzy controller guaranteeing the global stability of the closed loop via solving relevant linear matrix inequalities. Compared to the conventional PDC (paralled distributed compensation) technique, the presented method has an advantage that trial-and-errors to check the global stability are not necessary. An illustrative simulation on the control of inverted pendulum is performed to demonstrate the applicability of the presented method, and its results show that a controller satisfying the global stability and robustness can be obtained by the method.

  • The measurement of residual stresses by the hole-drilling method has been commonly used to evaluate residual stresses in structural members. In this method, eccentricity can usually occur between the hole center and rosette gage center. In this study, the error due to the hole eccentricity is compensated using the neural network. The neural network has trained training examples of normalized eccentricity, eccentric direction and direction of maximum stress at eccentric case using backpropagation learning process. The trained neural network could compensated the error of measured residual stress in experiments with hole eccentricity. The proposed neural network is very useful for compensation of the error due to hole eccentricity in hole-drilling method.

  • This report presents an automatic measurement method of 3-dimensional profiles of free-formed surfaces, by using a touch a touch-trigger contact probe along with a conventional coordinate measuring machine. The method proceeds in three steps; The surface profile under consideration is traced by the probe in an automatic manner, and then its measured data is compensated by considering the actual probe radius. Finally the compensated data is rearranged in the form suitable for the further processings of CAD/CAM applications. Some experimental results are discussed to verify the validity of the method suggested in this study.

  • In this study, the micro-FE analyses were carried out for the plastic behaviour of vertebral trabecular bones. Many researchers have investigated the elastic behaviour of trabecular bones by using the micro-finite element models based on the micro-CT images. However, there was no micro-FE model to account for the plastic behaviour of trabecular bones. Ulrich et at. reported that best results at coarser model were obtained when using 'compensated hexahedron models' with the same relative density. This study indicates that, for the elastic and plastic analysis, 'the compensated hexahedron FE model' is likely to be limited to about 63$\mu\textrm{m}$ image resolution in the vertebra trabecular bones.
