  • Oh (2009) has proposed a likelihood ratio test for comparing two agreements for dependent observations based on the concept of marginal homogeneity and marginal stochastic ordering. In this paper we consider the comparison of more than two agreement measures. Simple ordering and simple tree ordering among agreement measures are investigated. Some test procedures, including likelihood ratio test, are discussed.

  • Petri nets aare capable of modeling a large variety of systems, it is necessary to analyze the modeled system for verifying the behavior. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which analyzes Petri nets by comparing initial marking with modified incidence matrix. The proposed algoriths is able to analyze petri net involving self-loop, and is able to verify the order of sequence according to that of firing.

  • This study was undertaken to identify the influence which affect on gait speed and energy consumption regarding putting on arm sling during gait of the 40 hemiplegic patients selected from University Hospital and rehabilitation center in seoul during two months. The analysis of data was performed using the paired samples ttest to compare the differences of gait velocity, heart rate, oxygen consumption and oxygen cost in gait of preand post- arm sling. The results of this study were as follows; 1. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, gait velocity after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly increased(p<.05). 2. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, heart rate after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly decreased(p<.05). 3. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, oxygen consumption per weight after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly decreased(p<.05). 4. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, oxygen consumption rate per weight after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly decreased(p<.05). When putting together the above result, the gait with arm sling in comparison with the gait without arm sling was to increase gait velocity, decrease heart rate, decrease oxygen consumption and was finally to decrease energy consumption in the gait of hemiplegic patient.

  • This study conducted an analysis of strategies that the 3rd to 6th grade elementary students used when they were solving problems of comparing the size of the fractions with like and unlike denominators, and unit fractions. Although there were slight differences in the students' use of strategies according to the problem types, students were found to use the 'part-whole strategy', 'transforming strategy', and 'between fractions strategy' frequently. But 'pieces strategy', 'unit fraction strategy', 'within fraction strategy', and 'equivalent fraction strategy' were not used frequently. In regard to the strategy use that is appropriate to the problem condition, it was found that students needed to use the 'unit fraction strategy', and the 'within fraction strategy', whereas there were many errors in their use of the 'between fractions strategy'. Based on the results, the study attempted to provide pedagogical implications in teaching and learning for comparing the size of the fractions.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the change of lower extremity alignment according to plantar surface compliance in standing status. The thirty normal adults (15 men and 15 women) aged between 20 and 29 were assigned to 3 groups: control group, experimental groups (AHPS group, ASPH group). The lower extremity alignment was examined before and after adaptation with corresponding foam types. The results of this study were as follows : 1. As the result of comparing lower extremity alignment before and after test of the control group which any change did not exist in plantar surface compliance, there were not significant differences in the angle A, B, C, D, E of right and left(p>0.05). 2. As the result of comparing lower extremity alignment before and after test of the AHPS group which forefoot part of plantar surface is hard and rear foot part is soft, there were not significant differences in the angle A of right and left(p>0.05). But, there were significantly decreased in the angle B, C, D, E of right and left(p<0.05). 3. As the result of comparing lower extremity alignment before and after test of the ASPH group which forefoot part of plantar surface is soft and rear foot part is hard, there were not significant differences in the angle A of right and left(p>0.05). But, there were significantly increased in the angle B, C, D, E of right and left(p<0.05). 4. As the result of comparing lower extremity alignment of the control group, AHPS group and ASPH group, there were not significant differences in the angle A, B, C, D, E of right and left before test(p>0.05). But, there were significant differences in the angle C, D of right and left after test(p<0.05).

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to understand and compare the knowledge of the adolescents and adults among the residents of Seoul metropolitan city about water fluoridation program. Methods : A total of 613 adolescents and adults between the age of 15 and 31-49 was surveyed by the questionnaire. Among them, the source of drinking water, the source of cooking water, awareness of caries prevention effect of water fluoridation program, awareness of cost benefit of health insurance of water fluoridation program, approval of water fluoridation program, awareness of health safety of water fluoridation program were surveyed. Results : 85.5% of adolescents and 88.9% of adults were surveyed to use public water supply for drinking water, and 95.3% of adolescents and 96.8% of adults were surveyed to use public water supply for cooking water. But only 14.0% of adolescents, comparing to the 42.1% of adults, were surveyed to be aware of the caries prevention effect of water fluoridation, and only 6.0% of adolescents, comparing to the 24.6% of adults, were surveyed to be aware of the caries prevention effect of water fluoridation to reduce to health insurance expenditure. About 82.6% of adolescents, comparing to the 92.1% of adults, were surveyed to vote for the fluoridation program, and only 6.8% of adolescents, comparing to the 28.6% of adults, were surveyed to be aware of health safety of water fluoridation program. Conclusions : Extensive oral health education program to the adolescents are necessary about using water fluoridation to prevent the dental caries.

  • This study analyzed the concentration of the lead in blood (n=774) from May, 2007 to Oct 2007. The subject was residents in G, Y, H industrial area, Jeollanam-do, in which exposure to the lead is expected due to the adjacency of the industrial complex. As to the lead concentration in the blood of the residents in the whole exposed region and the comparing region, $2.81{\mu}g/dl$ in the exposed region group, and $2.86{\mu}g/dl$ in the comparing region group Respectively, which indicates that the concentration of the comparing group was higher than that of the exposed group. The geometric mean concentration of lead in blood was $3.26{\mu}g/dl$ as to men, and $2.46{\mu}g/dl$ as to women, which indicates that the concentration of men is higher than that of women (p<0.01). The lead concentration for each age group increased in proportion to age except those under 10 for some substances (p<0.01). As to geometric mean concentration in blood according to the smoking history of the subject, the concentration of the smoking group and the non-smoking group was $3.57{\mu}g/dl$ and $2.66{\mu}g/dl$ respectively, which indicates the former is higher than the latter (p<0.01). To clarify the factors affecting the heavy metal concentration in blood among the subjects, the multiple regression analysis was conducted. As a result, it turned out that as to lead content in blood, gender, age, smoking all affect the lead concentration of the subjects ($R^2$=23.3%).

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze problems in the experiments for comparing properties of a mixture with a compound of iron and sulfur and then to suggest the improved experiments. For this study, the experimental methods in 9th science textbooks described were analyzed and middle school science teachers were asked to conduct the experiment according to the process of the textbook and to point problems of the experiment. Two alternative experiments, which improves the problems of the toxic and provocative experiment and of distinction between a mixture and a compound by magnetic properties, were proposed. The two experiments were applied to the 10 science teachers and 60 students from a “S” middle school. They responded that the experiments were suitable for comparing properties of a mixture and a compound and helpful to understand the concept.
