Compared to the 2007 packaging contest winners' work of Korea and Japan, their packaging trends have been studied in this study. Environmental-friendly packaging have been turned out the main trend at the same time in both Korea and Japan markets in this comparative research. In applied technology aspects, there was a remarkable distinction compared to packaging technology of both countries; Korea's technology was evaluated out to be lagged behind Japan by three or four years in this study. The road map for future packaging development plan shall be suggested by following comparative studies from the annual packaging contests which are supposed to be held in many developed countries.

This is a comparative cultural study on the cultural dimensions of the Korean original film and its Chinese remake film. This research is based on the cultural dimension study by Dutch organizing psychologist Geert Hofstede (1991). In this research I have tried to compare cultural dimensions that are shown implicitly in the original Korean film of "Blind" and its Chinese remake, entitled "The Witness", in terms of the narrative structures.

The goal of heat transfer studies is the accurate prediction of temperature and heat flux distribution on material boundaries. To this purpose, general-purpose computational fluid dynamics(CFD) code is used : FLUENT. Mass fluxes and pressure ratio are calculated for two types of nozzle. The comparative studies reveal that the computational results are in agreement with the experimental data. Also, heat transfer coefficients from FLUENT for one type of nozzle are very similar and agree well with the experimental data in the diverging part of the nozzle, but the calculated results are large in the converging part. The heat transfer coefficients from Bartz equation are over-predicted. We can consider various reasons for these differences, i.e., laminarization by the highly accelerated flow in the nozzle, turbulent flow model and grid generation.
Rates of molecular evolution are known to vary widely among taxonomic groups. A number of studies, examining various taxonomic groups, have indicated that body size is negatively and clutch size is positively correlated with the rates of nucleotide substitutions among vertebrate species. Generally, either smaller body mass or larger clutch size is associated with shorter generation times and higher metabolic rates. However, this generality is subject to ongoing debate, and large-scale comparative studies of species below the Order level are lacking. In this study, phylogenetically independent methods were used to test for relationships between rates of the mitochondrial cytochrome b evolution and a range of life history traits, such as body mass and clutch size in the Order Galliformes. This analysis included data from 67 species of Galliformes birds and 2 outgroup species in Anseriformes. In contrast to previous studies, taxa were limited to within-Order level, not to Class or higher. I found no evidence to support an effect of life history traits on the rate of molecular evolution within the Galliformes. These results suggest that such relationship may be too weak to be observed in comparisons of closely related species or may not be a general pattern that is applicable to all nucleotide sequences or all taxonomic groups.
This article aims at analyzing melodramas in films of Northeast Asia for seeking comparative studies of popular narrative which have been widely favored in Korea, China and Japan since the 1990s. It is explored of expectation and desire of public who have taken pleasure in watching the films in each countries of Northeast Asia as well. It is selected to Letter(1997) made in Korea, The Road Home(1999) in China and Love Letter(1995) in Japan for the research as above Melodrama of each countries has been searched at not only maintaining the traditional melodramatic convention but also corresponding to sociocultural environment of each countries for meeting tastes of public 'in the 1990s' when cultural interchanges have been more active along each countries of Northeast Asia. It will be concretely pursued to the interchanges and influence-reception relation of melodrama for follow-up research as it has been sprightly enjoying as well as transforming common cultural contents at each countries of Northeast Asia since the 1990s.
Using the observation technique and in-depth interview, the current study compared various aspects of multicultural education between Korea and Canada and suggested the direction Korea's multicultural education needs to take. As a part of class curriculum, the researcher interviewed the representative of Ansan Foreign Center (AFC) and the president of the Kosian's House, a NGO for multicultural educations. The observations and experiences of the researcher were also used in this study. The results of the current study are as follows. First, multicultural education is provided for the minority group in Korea, whereas multiculturalism is included and taught for every student in Canada. In addition, the current multicultural education of Korea focuses on language and culture acquisition to help the students to adjust. Canada, on the other hand, focuses on accepting other cultures and ethnic equality, creating both identities as their ethnic origin and as Canadians. Second, in language educations, both countries had students enrolled in lower school years than their age. However, the differences occurred in terms of emotional support and availability of expert teachers. Third, comparing teacher's attitude towards multicultural education, Korean teachers were not free from perceiving the multicultural student as 'different', whereas Canadian teachers have been taught since little to consider multicultural students as Canadians, but accept their ethnic backgrounds. Based on the results, the current study suggested multicultural education program for the majority group, increase in number of expert language teachers and teaching assistants, and an education program to teach multiculturalism as part of an identity of humankind. The limitations and suggestions for future studies were provided afterwards.
Area studies are sometimes framed as focused on specific localities, rooted in deep linguistic, cultural and historical knowledge, and hence empirically rich but, as a result, as yielding non-transferable/non-translatable findings and hence as theoretically poor. In Europe and North America some social science disciplines like sociology, economics and political science routinely dismiss any reference to local specifics as parochial "noise" interfering with their universalizing pretensions which in reality obscure their own Euro-American parochialism. For more qualitatively oriented disciplines like history, anthropology and cultural studies the inherent non-universality of (geographically constricted) area studies presents a predicament which is increasingly fought out by resorting to philosophical concepts which usually have a Eurocentric pedigree. In this paper, however, I argue that concepts with arguably European pedigree - like religion, culture, identity, heritage and art - travel around the world and are adopted through vernacular discourses that are specific to locally inflected histories and cultural contexts by annexing existing vocabularies as linguistic vehicles. In the process, these vernacularized "universal" concepts acquire different meanings or connotations, and can be used as powerful devices in local discursive fields. The study of these processes offer at once a powerful antidote against simplistic notions of "global"/"universal" and "local," and a potential corrective to localizing parochialism and blindly Eurocentric universalism. I develop this substantive argument with reference to my own professional, disciplinary and theoretical trajectory as an anthropologist and historian focusing on Vietnam, who used that experience - and the empirical puzzles and wonder encountered - in order to develop theoretical interests and questions that became the basis for larger-scale, comparative research projects in Japan, China, India, South Africa, Brazil and Europe. The subsequent challenge is to bring the results of such larger, comparative research "home" to Vietnam in a meaningful way, and thus overcome the limitations of both area studies and Eurocentric disciplines.
Chinese literature once had its splendid era in the Tang and Song Dynasties culminating in Tang poetry and influencing the literatures of its neighboring countries. However, during the past centuries, it has largely been "marginalized" on the map of world literature. On the one hand, large numbers of foreign literary works, especially those from Western countries, have been translated into Chinese, exerting a huge influence on the formation of a sort of modern Chinese literary tradition. On the other hand, few contemporary Chinese literary works have been translated into the major foreign languages. With the help of the rise and flourishing of comparative literature, contemporary Chinese literature has been moving toward the world and had its own Nobel laureate. The author, after analyzing the reasons why Chinese literature has been "marginalized," argues that Chinese literature will develop steadily in the age of globalization. Globalization in China has undergone three steps: first, it has made China passively involved in this irresistible trend; second, the country has then quickly adapted itself to this trend; and third, China has started to play an increasingly leading role in the first decade of the present century. In this way, contemporary Chinese literature and comparative literature studies will steadily develop with the help of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
Purpose: A network meta-analysis was conducted to assess the comparative effects and ranks of repositioning for pressure ulcer prevention in adults. Methods: A network meta-analysis was performed in a frequency method, using the "netmeta" package of R software version 4.1. The effects of repositioning intervention were confirmed by the odds ratio. The comparative ranking of the repositioning effects was confirmed using the cumulative probability (P-score). Results: Seven intervention studies were included in this study. Based on the P-score, the use of the repositioning system was ranked as the most effective among all interventions (P-score 78.7%). Next was 3~4-hour repositioning combined with memory foam mattress use (P-score 77.2%), use of wearable sensor (P-Score 61.4%), 2-hour repositioning combined with memory foam mattress use (P-score 59.1%), 2-hour repositioning combined with powered air pressure redistribution mattress use (P-score 18.0%), and 4-hour repositioning combined with powered air pressure redistribution mattress use (P-score 18.0%). Conclusion: This study provides information on the relative comparative value of various repositioning interventions to prevent pressure ulcers using network meta-analysis. This is expected to be useful for nurses' decision-making when applying repositioning interventions in clinical practice
This paper analyzes the specific product-basis trade structure between Busan and Japan using the recent 2000-2007 trade statistical data. Several specific product-basis trade structure tests such as intra-industry trade index and market comparative advantage index show that there are considerable differences in intra-industry trade structure between Busan and Japan. Furthermore, this paper found that Busan has high quality vertical intra-industry trade and horizontal intra-industry trade as well as low quality vertical intra-industry trade in trading with Japan. While Busan has the market comparative disadvantage in automobile-part products in Japan. This paper also examines the contribution to trade balance of Busan's exports and the movement of Busan's comparative advantage patterns in Japan. The comparative advantage appears to have overall stability and convergence properties using symmetric indices.
